Yellow it's the Tara Lee DVD I've gone for as well. Haven't read any reviews but have seen it mentioned quite a lot so hopefully it's good! And I don't blame you being upset at being called lazy! I still haven't fully forgiven my DH for saying 'god, you're so unfit' when I had to sit down part way up the 300-odd steps of the Petrin Tower.

Spam88 · 05/02/2017 22:50

Dream that is a level of organisation I can only dream of.

Teaspoon74 · 05/02/2017 22:55

What a day!! Started with the Mamas and Papas event at 10am at Stratford. Some useful stuff, including a 10% off voucher for anything bought that day (including bundles) and a goodie bag with water, a free toy, and a £10 gift card which can be used anytime until October. Highly recommend going along to their next one of you have one within travelling distance!

Jealous of the swimmers (Peaches and MrsJW). I was pretty good at going a couple of times a day pre bump but haven't been for weeks now. Just haven't got the energy! Did a half mile at the aquatic centre just after Xmas and felt like I was nearly dead after!!

Gin impressive DIY but don't go overdoing it!! OH is trying to do lots of v physical/manual work but I figure if we can afford to let some things slip/ get help with them then we should.... better than getting broken!! Same applied to you too ;)

Yellow hope you're ok. Is the pressure getting to him too? Shouldn't be taking it out on you!

Welcome vanilla!

Rustler we had the same dilemma re prams and decided that the first few things we'd get that we'd use frequently we wanted to get new, if poss/affordable. We got a pram set by Egg (our fave in store) from PramWorld online for £599 including bassinet, brand new fleece liner (super soft) fleecy footmuff, hood, change bag, etc. But more than some, but felt reasonable for what we got. Although they only do that price in the purple colour ;). Hope you're feeling better!

MrsPage re Egg - we love it! Liked some of the colours we saw in store but (as above) went for the gothic purple as it was so much cheaper... and it's actually really nice in the flesh. Not too vivid or intrusive. Try Pramworld online if you haven't already. Greg service and cheapest prices for Egg that we found.

Hiya Claire welcome! And with you on the superstition - apart from the pram, today is the first time we've properly started buying things. Just bought nursery furniture, mattress, sheets, couple of grobags, change mat, toy & some clothes. Knackered. & skinted! Still need car seat & base.

Hope that Sah and anyone else who's under the weather is bearing up.... nearly in the home strait now. Think tri3 starts for me from Tuesday!!

yellowismyfavourite · 05/02/2017 23:04

Thanks badger and spam I will take a look at that one

Sorry for rant earlier!! My DH is usually very supportive and I think we both caught each other at a bad moment! tea you might be right about him feeling pressure... He has a job interview on Tuesday and also tonight he suddenly said he would be glad when it's the end of February because it would be past 30 weeks by then. I didn't even know he was worrying about it...

tea wish we had a mamas and papas near us... sounds amazing!

ginandcake · 05/02/2017 23:06

Thanks teaspoon, the builders come in a week tomorrow to basically renovate our whole upstairs and we said we'd get all the wallpaper off by then, and the previous owners put woodchip on every possible surface! DH has been great to be fair and has done most of it himself, but it's much quicker if I join in. When the builders come in we have 8 weeks of sleeping on a sofa bed in the playroom with the girls and no bathroom! Just can't wait for it to be done so we can focus on nettings things ready for thd baby.

Sadly we don't have a Mamas and Papas nearby because that sounds great.

savagehk · 05/02/2017 23:12

Eek! Tea how are you counting? 40/3*2 or 28 weeks? I'm past the first already (just checked!)

Rustler74 · 05/02/2017 23:19

Must be a 74 thing Grin

Teaspoon74 · 05/02/2017 23:35

Yellow ;).

Gin - wowzers! Best of luck! Just think how fab it will be when it's all done!

Savage - the former. I may go at 38 (says obs) which would be even more defo Confused

& yup Rustler Grin

Sah1987 · 05/02/2017 23:46

Found this article on a Kent breastfeeding forum.
I couldn't breast feed with my first, she didn't take to it and midwife and health visitor plus nurses at the hospital all told me switching to formula was better for my LG.
However looking back I think it was the "easy" option for them to give me, rather than time/support.
I don't want to start a right or wrong debate, just using the article as a reminder not just about breastfeeding but about every choice we will ALL be making as new mothers - babies aren't good or bad, it's perception.

lullaby23 · 06/02/2017 01:10

Welcome to the newcomers.

I haven't been swimming this time as difficult to find the time, once DS is in bed I don't really feel like it. I haven't been paddling in the kids pool with him for ages either! I find it really difficult not to do breaststroke legs which apparently aggravates SPD. I have a maternity tankini from ASOS.

Jugoo28 · 06/02/2017 05:26

I got my swimsuit from Asos and I really like it, it's got lots of ruching so I can wear it the whole way through and is generous in the boob area.

I got a very retro sixties armchair today for free from a lady down the road. I'm loving it though, fits with the scandi ish nursery furniture that we went for.

I've also got some embroidery patterns and a pattern for a mobile to get started on from etsy :)

mrspage1985 · 06/02/2017 06:23

Teaspoon thank u so much for the link to pramworld - just had a look and the purple is still on offer!
Only problem I have is the original pram we bought which we have now gone off and wished we had stuck to our original love of the egg was bought from mothercare and we are slightly outside the 28 day returns policy, they agreed yesterday they would take it back and swap it for the egg and we pay the difference, however I am going to give them a go today to see if I can get them to put that money on a gift card / store credit as we will end up using it over the next 12 months or so!
If they will do that then I think we too will go for the purple from pramworld - it is such a good deal!!! Thank u again, fingers crossed for mothercare playing ball with my return! X

Just place marking while I catch up with the last few days.... you're a chatty lot!!! Grin

EsmesBees · 06/02/2017 07:08

Good article Sah. I think there is a lot of truth in that. Bfeeding support is so important but so hard to access. There was a great weekly clinic near me, but it ran at 9am (which was a right effort with a newborn) at a children's centre in the middle of a horrid estate. And the staff would wonder why noone turned up.

Rustler74 · 06/02/2017 08:29

What an idea to run bf clinics at 9am! I bet the support was not deemed necessary unless there were problems for which the mums would 'make that effort'.
I agree with the article Sah, and it strengthens me to persuade the bf route even if things may not go too smooth to begin with.
A little scare this morning when it took a lot longer than normal to feel baby move. I had a bite to eat and now lying on my left side and lo and behold baby is moving! Jeez what a relief!
I was worried and I had to share with my partner who is off work today. At least it's back to pram buying now I felt baby. Which brand is Egg? Couldn't find it last night...

Autumnsweater · 06/02/2017 08:37

I went swimming for the first time in years yesterday, it was lovely to feel weightless in the water! It was nice to be able to get breathless again have been missing proper exercise. I did breaststroke arms and front crawl legs as didn't want to aggravate my PGP.

I just wore my normal bikini (it's quite generous in the boob coverage) with the bottom bit under bump.

savagehk · 06/02/2017 08:42

For those wanting to breastfeed, it's worth checking in advance what support there is nearby, both from NHS / children's centres, or NCT (in our area apparently very good peer supporters), La Leche League (LLL) and local peer supporters. I never needed to access any - my first latched well from the start and i never even had so much as a sore nipple! - but i know others who've had issues which needed support or intervention (such as tongue tie).

savagehk · 06/02/2017 08:43

Also search out local Facebook groups aimed at supporting new mothers

coxsorangepippin · 06/02/2017 08:56

Good idea to look for support in advance for bfing problems, thanks! I will add that to my to-do list Grin as it somehow hadn't occurred to me.

Swimming - I bought a primark bikini with the top half three sizes bigger than the bottom half and let the bump go free!

Sah1987 · 06/02/2017 09:06

I've been added to LLL local page where I found this article, they have weekly meet ups to help with latching and Bf issues.
Luckily I have 3 friends who Bf both babies who all have different days off during the week.
With my first I had no one who breastfed, and felt very very alone. Seeing this article then would have supported me so much more.
Hope it helps someone, even just a nudge xx

RasperryInAMelon · 06/02/2017 09:07

Just place marking to have a catch up, off to the Midwife now for my 25 week appt Smile

Is it just me or does anyone else have a bigger bump when wearing maternity clothes?
I've even had comments on it... Shock

Sah1987 · 06/02/2017 09:55

My bump is bigger in my work maternity trousers! I agree totally! X

CinnamonTwist · 06/02/2017 10:17

3 May ladies... today is 100 days to the end of the 2 week window after due date... in theory it's a maximum of 100 days until we meet our little ones Shock 💯

mrscrocopop · 06/02/2017 10:27

Wish I totally agree! I get loads of comments when in maternity dresses/tops etc but out of them I just look fat!!! Ha ha! They must be cut in a shape enhancing way!
