The time is flying ShockWe're in the major house renovations period and living with the toddler will get very exciting! Luckily newborns are not that mobile so we should be okay for a while.

FoxMulder · 23/01/2017 16:29

Constantly work going on at our house too. Only DH does it all because he is a builder so it is slow progress.

Had a checkup with the midwife today. All fine. I'm so desperate for this placenta to move up so I can have my home birth though.

Nurse15 · 23/01/2017 16:30

Placemarking!

savagehk · 23/01/2017 16:41

We're due to renovate/extend. I'm wanting to move out during the process as it's now too close to due date for my liking and I have no desire to live in the house while we're doing the messy stuff while pregnant or with a newborn, don't think all the dust would be healthy.

newbieho · 23/01/2017 17:49

Fox I understand you so well! DH is doing the most of work on his own so the progress is mot as quick as we would like to.

MrsJW15 · 23/01/2017 17:49

DH spoke to MIL again last night about some of the things she is planning to give us. She keeps mentioning things, although nothing has actually appeared so far (thankfully). Previous offers have been clothes for toddlers so not hugely helpful at this point! This time she mentioned that she had some lovely things that were in 'pristine' condition, and various things that were handwash only. Think we may need to say thanks but no thanks!

growcookeat · 23/01/2017 18:04

Missmoo that sounds worrying for you. Hope they put your mind at ease eventually?

I'm having a rough couple of days. Started with stomach pain on Sunday after eating (far too much) Sunday roast. Thought I was just full/bloated but have had pain, bloating, shivering/chills, tiredness ever since. I've hardly eaten since as everything I try seems to irritate my stomach. Kind of feels like IBS that I used to have a couple of years ago. DH is worrying and thinks I should see someone but I'm not sure there's anything they will do? I'm taking paracetamol for the pain and plenty of fluids.

Anyone had similar?

jennymac31 · 23/01/2017 18:09

Evening ladies

Thank you for setting up the new thread raspberryinmelon!

Today's not been a great day. Haven't got much work done today because dd has caught a nasty tummy bug. Dh went to work even though he didn't look 100% but I suspect that's due to lack of sleep on his part. Keeping fingers crossed that I don't catch the bug but we shall see!

I've got 12 weeks before I take the remainder of my annual leave before my maternity leave kicks off. Cannot wait!

savagehk · 23/01/2017 18:23

grow worth calling the midwives?

mrspage1985 · 23/01/2017 18:40

Evening all, thanks for new thread. I'm right at the back of the bus, so got 15 weeks until I break up from work...but do have two weeks off at Easter so only 13 working weeks left!! Minus 4 days (2 long weekends!) so essentially only 12 weeks worth of working days!!!
Think I'm starting to feel kicks - anterior placenta here so a bit behind, 22 week tomorrow and cannot wait for my husband to be able to feel them as well!
Just taken my two labradors out for a walk and think I have twinged my back a bit - an evening on the sofa is in order I think!! X

coxsorangepippin · 23/01/2017 18:43

So I'm in the minority here who have bought nothing for the baby yet, and who don't have a room for the baby either Grin. I mostly think it will be fiiiine - what babies need is love and for the rest there's Amazon, right? Wink

Can any second time mums say whether you reckon we probably
need a lie-flat pram, or should we make do with a sling until the baby is old enough for a folding pushchair?
We will try to buy second hand if we can. So I'm dithering between not getting one if we might never use it, vs the risk that means we need one quickly and have to buy new for £££!

Samatamfabahaba · 23/01/2017 18:48

I love these threads, I learn so much! I've not got my Matb1 form yet, I just assumed I'd get it at my 25 week midwife apt? One of my best friends who is due exactly the same day as me (not planned at all!!) got hers weeks ago, but we think her midwife gave her that instead of her exemption form thing for the dentist as she's still not got that. Do I need to specifically request it do you reckon?

Spam88 · 23/01/2017 19:09

coxs First time mum here, so can't really answer your question...but you can get some prams where it's the same seat part that lays flat as a pram or goes up into a pushchair, which might be more suitable for you? That's what we've gone for rather than having a separate carry cot taking up space!

fuzzywuzzy · 23/01/2017 19:14

Cox I'm getting a light flat lightweight stroller with baby pack so converts to a lram type stroller, for times when I don't want to be wearing my baby. Helps when out shopping or if I want to go for coffee or lunch out.

A quick hello to everyone on this thread I'm also due end of May, but as I've had previous losses I've been quietly trying to take a day at a time. It's getting real now :)

yellowismyfavourite · 23/01/2017 19:17

Missmoo glad all is ok with the baby and hope you are feeling better. All of you coping with pregnancy, toddlers and renovations... I am amazed and in awe of your ability to cope. I am struggling some days just to get to work
I have 10 weeks of work then 2 weeks holiday before maternity leave starts. My cover is actually coming in tomorrow to cover someone else for the day and am looking forward to meeting her.

MissMooMoo · 23/01/2017 19:29

Thanks all for the well wishes, have been taking the antibiotics for 24 hours now and I feel much better!
Hope you are on the mend soon grow

sam I am not seeing my midwife until I am 25+6,technically you are supposed to give it to your employer by 25 weeks I think.
I just rang my surgery to ask if I get it from them or from the midwife and they said they could do it so I went for that as its closer for me to collect, I see the midwife at a community midwife centre which is seperate from my surgery.

As for things we have for baby, not too much that we have purchased!
I bought some things over the wknd at the aldi baby event but we just have 6 newborn vests,6 newborn babygrows,6 0-3 etc.
2 cellular blankets.
My friend gave me tons of things for later on and a carseat,we have yet to order the pram but have chosen one.
I feel like babies dont need much, nappies, clothing and somewhere to sleep should be fine!

EsmesBees · 23/01/2017 19:42

Could it be good poisoning Grow? Probably is nothing that can be done but worth getting it checked out if you can't eat at all.

Cox depends on your lifestyle I reckon. We have friends who only ever used a sling but drove everywhere so didn't need to worry about transporting shopping home in a buggy. I liked having the option of both a pram or a sling but live in London and rely on busses/walking. If you don't have much space then there are a number of travel systems where a newborn can lie flat without a carrycot. Join your local FB parents groups. There are great bargains if you are considering second hand.

EsmesBees · 23/01/2017 19:43

Or, indeed, food poisoning

MrsJW15 · 23/01/2017 19:46

Sam I'm also seeing my GP at 25+6. My work said that it was fine just to give them the MatB1 when I have it.

Have decided that I love the look of the Egg - although haven't seen it in person yet - but I'd be interested to know any names of the pushchairs that don't need a full carrycot. No idea where we'll store the carrycot once baby is a few months old and moves into the seat bit!

growcookeat · 23/01/2017 19:52

Esmes I don't think it is this time. No sickness today just cramping and pain in my stomach. I've managed to eat some fruit tonight. I think I'll have an early night and call midwife or doc if I'm no better tomorrow.
10 weeks left at work woop!

EsmesBees · 23/01/2017 20:06

mrsJW they tend to be the smaller ones, like the bugaboo bee and the icandy raspberry (I think, it's been a while since I looked at singles). The uppababy Cruz does as well if you buy an insert seat. The Phil and Ted's I've just got is a double but the seat reclines for newborns. You still need something, like a cacoon for a newborn, but not the full on carry cot.

coxsorangepippin · 23/01/2017 20:08

spam, fuzzy and esme - thank you, that sounds like a great idea! What models have you gone for?
fuzzy wishing you lots of peace of mind - glad all going well so far

sam, missmoo and mrsjw - I diligently got my matb1 before 25 weeks, and when I gave it to my manager he said 'why would I need this' !!

EnterWittyUsernameHere · 23/01/2017 20:25

Thanks for setting up the new thread raspberry Smile

I'm currently studying a Masters so I have 9 weeks of lectures to go, followed by 3 weeks study leave over Easter and a 2 week exam period. The snag is that my due date is right in the middle of the exam period. I wonder if baby will let me sit my exams before appearing...it's going to be interesting!!

Rabbitykins55 · 23/01/2017 21:04

Thank you for the new thread! Smile

MrsJW15 · 23/01/2017 21:10

Eeek, fingers crossed Enter!
