While you're buying things for yourself during labour don't forget to buy/pack a button-down shirt for your OH. That way he can do skin to skin after as well and is likely to feel a lot more self conscious than you will about sitting there with his top off. I can't even remember what I was wearing last time during labour and for weeks/months after felt unusually comfortable wheeking out whatever bits were requested by midwife/hv/dr/baby.

Sonnet18 · 30/01/2017 18:04

lucie I did a one day course followed by 2 weeks worth of home study (quite a few hours a day) when dd was 6 weeks old. It worked well for us (I earned money from it, only reason I did it!!)
I worked hard, prioritised the baby, the workload and myself last for those few weeks. Did us no harm at all. I still had bleeding (for about 10 weeks after the birth!) and baby was feeding on demand but personally I wanted to do it and decided if I couldn't continue then I would drop out. Ps- I'll be doing another course this time round when baby is only 4 weeks...

Wow this thread moves fast!

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 30/01/2017 18:17

Just placemarking as you had all dropped off my threads I'm on again. I hope MN fix that issue soon. Very annoying!

Turned 24 weeks on Sat- so happy to have hit V day! :) xx

lucieloos · 30/01/2017 19:10

Thanks Sonnet, that's really interesting to hear. What will you course involve this time around? Will it be home study?

growcookeat · 30/01/2017 19:19

Badger the lampshade is a plain white one from ikea for £3 which I covered with the woodland fabric (think I got it at dunelm some time last year) so it cost about £4.50 total with the trim.

The tree we ordered on Amazon, there are loads on Etsy but they're more expensive. This is what we've ordered below. Should be here by the weekend so I'll post an update if we ever manage to get it on the wall!!

I love that tree grow. I've been looking at a few of these this past week (though I really shouldn't be redecorating what will be the nursery!) and they look great - I think my main worry is I like the ones that are light on a dark background but don't think I'm brave enough to paint a wall dark enough. It's so good they are re-peelable though.

WishIWasSleeping · 30/01/2017 20:25

Peas, it was only 148/96, then 148/86... but I've always been borderline. Although I am already on asprin to reduce bp and I do keep forgetting to take it everyday..
overly cautious maybe as I have no other symptoms for pr-eclampsia, other than being a bit fat.. Hmm
They had to induce me last time (3 whole days) before I was due, and I'm a whole year older this time so I guess they are just playing it safe.

WishIWasSleeping · 30/01/2017 20:28

And grow that tree is lovely. I hope they send all the leaves on one roll as much as possible. We brought some words for my nephews wall and they came individually taped so I had to guess the spacing. Although don't suppose you can really go wrong with leaves!
I'm now wondering how it would look with same text names placed in there too...

uptown8617 · 30/01/2017 20:47

We've gone for white stickers on a dark wall. We thought they'd come on a roll but they were all individual!!

Bloomin hell Up, amazing job, well done. And that looks amazing. If we have a boy I may steal this idea... Grin

Rustler74 · 30/01/2017 20:52

wish I hope they get the BP under control. Loving the nursery photos x
I would like to be in our own place so we can make the children's room look nice.
3 sleeps to my 24 week appointment and intake for the new team from Stevenage. I can't wait really!

ginandcake · 30/01/2017 21:15

Hope BP is better tomorrow wish, like you said I don't think the stress of today would have helped.

Love that wall up and amazing job with all the individual stickers! Is that an IKEA day bed, thinking of getting one for the study for when my parents come to stay, seeing as the current spare room will now be the nursery.

27 weeks today, nearly into the third trimester (although to be honest not sure when that officially starts!)

peasandquiet · 30/01/2017 21:33

Wish that's not too bad, good that the second reading came down. Always make sure they use a large cuff, made a happy he difference for me as I have big arms (obviously have no idea if you do but worth mentioning incase your have the same big arm burden as me not intending to offend!) hope it's lower again tomorrow.
Beautiful nurseries ladies.

uptown8617 · 30/01/2017 21:57

Thanks! I can't really take the credit, the OH meticulously measured and stuck every single cloud himself. He's very proud!

Yes, it's the ikea hemnes daybed. We already had it in the spare room so I decided to keep it and I'll fill it with cushions to make it comfortable instead of any kind of nursing chair.

Badgerbird · 30/01/2017 23:13

grow that is stunning. That's it, I'm gonna have to paint a feature wall and get that tree!!

uptown cracking job! You're oh must be soooooo patient! Really like the colour too.

wish what a crappy day, I hope your bp is down tomorrow.

Brightsmoke · 31/01/2017 04:39

That's really impressive uptown! I'm far too impatient to do something like that to that standard!!

Loving all the nursery pictures!!

RedBlu · 31/01/2017 07:32

I hit 24 weeks yesterday, it's going so quickly.

We managed to get rid of some stuff in the "nursery" which we didn't need so it is actually looking more like a proper nursery now than a random room. Chose the paint and have the wallpaper but haven't decorated yet, might do it in a few weeks.

Autumnsweater · 31/01/2017 07:46

Lucie I'm in the middle of a 3 year post-graduate qualification, I have to go for a one day course 3 hours away from home every month, I have one course 2.5 weeks before my due date and the next one 4 weeks after my due date... Really really don't want to cancel as it means me deferring the entire course for one year which has a whole host of knock on implications for work in the future. But am bricking it... Plan is for husband to come with me for both of those two courses, first in case I go into labour, second with the baby so I can nip in and out to them (which should be doable) and leave a bit early.

Nurse15 · 31/01/2017 09:26

Up we've done something very similar, navy wall with silver star stickers! Snap!!

We're off to London to see the Harry Potter play this weekend and do the studio tour I am SO excited but a bit terrified of going into labour while over there! Would be just my luck!!

Have booked a 4d ultrasound for this evening and I cannot wait! Will share pictures later Grin

jennymac31 · 31/01/2017 09:48

Morning ladies

Have got my midwife's appointment this morning. It’s quite bad but I almost feel as though it's a waste of time because I've barely had any contact with her. This will be the first time I've seen her face-to-face! I guess it's because it's my second pregnancy but I feel that I've been quite detached from the midwifery service this time round and fear that the experience won't be any better the further along the pregnancy progresses.

Fingers crossed I'm proven wrong!

lucieloos · 31/01/2017 10:09

Thanks Autumn i think a day or two would definitely be doable but I'm thinking 5 days is quite a lot and will be difficult with breastfeeding but it would resolve all our money worries during maternity. I've expressed an interest for now and will see what happens further down the line.

Had my 24 week midwife appt this morning and all was well. Listened to the heartbeat again and signed up for parentcraft classes. Got to go back again in 2 weeks to be measured.

MrsJW15 · 31/01/2017 11:28

Nurse I'm jealous of your weekend plans!

lucieloos · 31/01/2017 12:44

That sounds like a lovely weekend nurse. Is anyone else planning a getaway before baby arrives?

ShiniBerry · 31/01/2017 12:58

Loving all the gorgeous nursery pics!

Nurse have a lovely time! I booked tickets for the HP play back in 2015, and have just realised they are exactly for a week before my due date! Hmm Hoping I don't go into labour during as well!
