For heartburn, milk, natural yoghurt, gaviscon eat something - repeat for the rest of the day Sad and prop yourself up at a funny angle in bed at night. This has been me since about 4 weeks ago. Having never had heartburn before I didn't know that's what it was BlushI do think McDonalds milkshakes will probably help too Grin

If you go to a pharmacy in Scotland (and i assume England since your prescriptions free when you're pregnant) the pharmacist can prescribe you gaviscon under minor ailments so you don't need to try to get a gp appointment Smile

PeachIcedT · 29/01/2017 15:13

Sorry to hear there has been a lot of heartburn in this group, I only had it on Friday when really stressed at work and I had to keep fake burping constantly to manage it (sorry that's not so nice a description!)

If you bought Gaviscon/Peptac over the counter in England you'd have to pay, though your GP could obviously prescribe this and it would be free. Though if seeing your GP I would consider ranitidine as it reduces your stomach's acidity rather than just coat the contents like Gaviscon does - I think coating the contents only helps to an extent if they are being forced up too high anyway by the pregnancy. Most likely if you end up having a c section you'll be given ranitidine before this anyway so it is widely prescribed.

Hi ladies, just catching up after a very busy weekend - ending up with 10 people plus a 5 month old for lunch! Collapsed on the sofa now, and enjoying all your updates.

coxsorangepippin · 29/01/2017 18:18

A friend has just promised me a box of all the clothes I'll need for 0-3 months except hats and cardis! So pleased.

1004Rise · 29/01/2017 18:19

You're right Peach did a quick google apparently it's only selected England/Wales trusts that offer the minor ailments prescriptions by pharmacists... officially rubbish! HmmConfused

growcookeat · 29/01/2017 18:29

Feeling excited as I found out today that a close friend is expecting an autumn baby! And another asked for advice on ttc so hopefully will be another one on the way!

Nursery is coming along now - bit dark but here is pic.

Forgot to say, ordered a tree sticker to go above the cot too so that should brighten things up!

FoxMulder · 29/01/2017 19:08

I'm not going to do a nursery but I guess I will need somewhere to store baby's clothes. DS has two sets of ikea draws but I think all his stuff would fit in one, so I might try to clear one for baby and move it to the spare room. This means I will have to get rid of the wardrobe that's in there with all my spare clothes in...

RasperryInAMelon · 29/01/2017 19:16

That's good cox it's so worth getting seconds - I realised today just how much we've got for so little money!

That's most of the 0-3 and 3-6 stuff, I've got a ton of 6-9 and 9-12 on the washing line at the moment and I think I've spent less than £60 on the lot. DH wants to be able to buy something new, perhaps some kind of coming home outfit then I think we're done.

We also got a donation of blankets from SIL so have enough to last a lifetime!

So the yogurt helped for a few hours, but it's back!!
Will be getting some Gaviscon tomorrow!!
We're not doing a nursery this time round. As in a rented 2 bed flat, we can't really decorate, however the cot is all set up & the changing table will be being emptied of my partners clothes in next few weeks!!
Feeling prepared!! Only 8 weeks until I have a 6 week holiday!! X

peasandquiet · 29/01/2017 20:29

Rasberry I can't believe you have washed a years worth of clothing already Shock you are one organised lady, what will you do on maternity leave?
No baby prep this weekend for us, just a lot of cleaning and home stuff... dullsville but lovely to spend time with my little family.

Brightsmoke · 29/01/2017 20:52

Rasperry, that's so cute!! Part of me wishes we had found out what we are having as I want to be able to buy more clothes, but I know family want to have something to buy us, all I've left them is clothes and toys 😂. We will be bulk buying some 2nd hand bits as soon as baby is here and we know if it's a boy or girl. It feels wrong calling baby an it!

Hope you all with acid reflux and heart burn are feeling better soon! Mine was fixed with rennies so far, hopefully it stays away!

We've had a lovely relaxed weekend, went out and bought some new tropical fish so have spent the evening watching the tank, whilst warming in front of the fire! Bliss

I'm also immensely jealous of those of you saying (agggges ago) about having dry hair. Only now I've discovered conditioning first am I able to wash my hair every other day, I've tried loads of brands but Aussie seems to be the best. What are you all using?

peasandquiet · 29/01/2017 21:08

Bright I use redken shampoo and I can honestly say it is worth the money, especially as I'm only washing my hair every three days or so. Dry shampoo was what change my habit of shampooing daily about 5yrs ago. pregnancy hair is the biggest bonus I've had both times!! I tried conditioning first once but then I couldn't get a brush through it after.
Tropical fish 🐟 will be lots of fun for baby once they start to notice them! My son would love a pet of any kind.

RasperryInAMelon · 29/01/2017 21:09

It's not all washed yet Peas I'm working my way through it, but needed to get it hung up and out of my kitchen, it was driving me mad.

Mat Leave I intend on spending 7 weeks with my feet up! Although I have ordered a cot mobile, which I'm thinking of taking apart to use the musical part, but making my own mobile as I can't find something I like that much, then lots of knitting and reading too I expect Smile I've been banking up a few spa days I have too - those last few weeks are going to be all about me!

Nursery's looking lovely Grow!
*
Ticky are you hoping to move before or after? Good luck!

Sah* I quite literally feel your pain - little miss is tap dancing on my cervix at the moment. Seems to do it whenever I sit or lie down. And she's getting increasingly powerful!

Rasperry- just wow!!! Awed by your preparation!!

Bright- thanks for the tip! Starting writing this and then got distracted by about an hour of sale shopping!! So much lovely stuff.

Anyone got any tips/ suggestions on how much of what to get in advance? I feel like I'm a bit scatter Hun in sizing and types of clothes at the moment but I don't want to get too much 0-3 and then have it go to waste!

Hiya Gulnak- welcome!

Re dreams and emotions - can't believe how teary I am at the moment. And the dreams are insane!!

Teaspoon74 · 29/01/2017 22:05

Badger - was your lovely red bag from TKMaxx? Think I saw it yesterday in Woolwich but it was about £25 ;(

Tickyboovicki · 29/01/2017 22:16

Tea originally we had hoped before, but looking very unlikely now! In a bit of a bind until someone puts an offer on our house so can't do anything for the moment anyway! Who doesn't love a nice hectic move with a tiny baby anyway Grin

ginandcake · 29/01/2017 23:27

Loving the nurseries.

Ticky we were like that with DD1, had an offer accepted on our flat when I was 5 months pregnant but only managed to move when she was 7 weeks so all the lovely nursery furniture was in boxes in the spare room for ages. All worked out fine in the end though.

Our nursery-to-be is currently a complete tip as we're having the builders in in 2 weeks to have some major upstairs renovation done. Can't wait to get it all sorted.

Rennie's and gavsicon have been on my bedside table and in my work bag for weeks, only thing that's getting me through the day and night!

Jugoo28 · 30/01/2017 00:28

We just booked flights to Australia (a short haul flight for us) for a wedding and to see DPs family when Bubs is two months old. Hopefully bubs just sleeps for most of it or we are going to be those people!

uptown8617 · 30/01/2017 08:36

Hi

I've been lurking for a few days! Due on 17 May.

Bit of a random thing to share as my first post but I went shopping at the weekend and bought a button down nightie from primark to wear during labour. It was only a few quid and thought it would make skin to skin easier afterwards with it opening at the front.

I've got all the big stuff sorted so just starting to pick up little things like this now.

themoonandsixpence · 30/01/2017 10:26

Welcome uptown that was a handy tip with the nightie.

I love all the nursery pictures. I would take a picture of mine however it's become a hoarders paradise again and we need to move a lot of bits out of the room.

themoonandsixpence · 30/01/2017 10:27

Also how do I join the Facebook group? Smile

Badgerbird · 30/01/2017 10:32

grow I was thinking how nice your lampshade was, can you post piccie of tree sticker please. All along I've says I'd like a tree painted on nursery wall. Planning on whitewalls then green and natural colours but may change my mind if I see nice bits and bobs in the shop.

The acid indigestion is a total pain and bore!!! I actually forget it's not normal to have it Confused I find it worse in afternoon between lunch and dinner. Strangely enough I'm ok after dinner, it somehow settles my tummy. Along with rennies!

teasoon yes tkmaxx in Watford £14.99!!! Maybe online?

Loved hearing about your wknds :) mine was a mixture of lovely preggo yoga class, lots of horrid tax return paperwork (learnt my lesson, HAVE to be more organised!!) then lovely dog walk and dinner with family at mums. Today we are going to an Art Deco cinema to watch a film in the middle of the day!!! How decadent for a Mon SmileMaking the most of time with my mum before she goes back home abroad. Oh and making most of time just as Me!

CinnamonTwist · 30/01/2017 11:26

Moon if you PM me your email I can add you, I'm on the app though so just let me know when you have done to remind me to go over onto the Internet version to check!

MissMooMoo · 30/01/2017 11:36

Welcome uptown I am also due on the 17th.
That is a good tip about the nightie, I will add that to my ever growing list of hospital bag things!
