Haven't posted in a while, but have been lurking.

All symptoms seem to have calmed down (not that I had much to start with), which is worrying me. Still, booking in apt tomorrow (9 weeks), and then hopefully I'll get my 12 week scan date soon! Time is going soooooo slowly.

Welcome Amber, it's quite nice to be on two threads - double the chat!!
Harrumph. I snapped at dh earlier and he's really stewing on it... Hate this!! We have been getting along so nicely and he's done loads with dd recently so I get a chance to rest... Just wish he wasn't such a ruddy sulker... Makes me feel like I have to be a bloody Saint all the time!

Amz26 · 08/02/2017 12:29

Welcome amber

calimommy That makes sense! Can't believe how expensive it is and how much they charge the insurance companies! I totally understand why people go privately, both the families that I worked for have gone private and the care that they were giving was just amazing!! If I had the money I would definitely go private.
I'm not knocking the NHS as I think that amazing too!
Kskifred did you self refer or did you get the GP to refer you? x

OkyDoke · 08/02/2017 12:40

Hello Amber, you have the exact same dates as me. I am due with my first on 28th August. My scan is the day after you though on Valentine's Day! I won't lie, I am hoping for a September baby!

Had my repeat blood test today for elevated platelets (increased chance of blood clots). Got to ring in Friday for results. Please be normal!

oliversmummy26 · 08/02/2017 12:55

Afternoon all! I'm 9+4 today, had my booking in 2 weeks ago when I thought I was 8 weeks. Early scan last week showed me about 4 days behind where I thought I was, so 12 week scan has been pushed back from 21st to 27th February Sad still over 2 weeks to wait!

Been having a little bit of pink discharge intermittently since Sunday, only 3 times so far and only when I've wiped, all my symptoms are still going strong especially nausea and big tingly boobs...so not too concerned..DH and I are considering another private scan to put our minds at rest but I'd been saying that another £100 would be silly when we only have to wait another 2 weeks...but seeing what some of you are being charged for private care that seems very little!

Another hospital appt today done, this was just the diabetes team. All happy with me, am back next week for my 3 monthly skin check after skin cancer (so I get to strip off on Valentine's Day lol), then week after for another scan and see all the docs, just to check things are ok after mc last time, then week after is community midwife, then two weeks after that is 12 week scan! Busy!

calimommy · 08/02/2017 17:35

hells it's based on how much each individual consultant charges. I know lots of people will disagree but I really appreciated having a private service because I was never waiting for my appointments and I had the same midwife and consultant every visit. She was also at both of my deliveries. I also think (much debated subject) that if you can afford it that you should go private because it takes pressure off the public system which is pretty maxed out. There's an argument for equality but I'm more interested in equity, i.e. The people who need it getting it, not just everyone getting it. But that's a discussion for another day I'm sure!
amz I think it is significantly more expensive to go private in the uk, I had heard upwards of 10grand sterling being the minimum, but I could be wrong. With full private being almost 40g. But I'm not positive. With figures like that the patient is obviously paying for the consultants medical insurance as well, which is very high.

sherbertlemon17 · 08/02/2017 17:37

So so sorry cashmere. Flowers

HellsBellsK · 08/02/2017 17:44

Oh Cali I am loving my Consultant at the moment, She has given us her mobile number so I can text her with any questions, we haven't been waiting long to see her etc. As you say we can afford it at the moment so thats why we are going with it this time.Yes it is what consultant you go with. But so far we are happy with the private care but you could definitely get into a debate about it Smile

Amz26 · 08/02/2017 18:18

MrsY87 · 08/02/2017 20:00

So sorry cashmere, take care of yourself. Flowers

I'm seeing a consultant privately in the U.K at the moment for some extra reassurance after my mcs last year. It's not cheap though so we certainly won't be staying private the whole way through, will probably just see him a couple more times but will have delivery on the nhs. I mentioned that I was seeing the consultant privately at my booking appointment and the mw said not at a problem at all, we are happy for you to have a mix of care if that helps you feel reassured and enjoy your pregnancy. Anyone finding it difficult hiding all these appointments from work? I'm sure my boss is suspicious!

I've felt like I've had a hangover for weeks, not fair when you haven't even touched a drop of alcohol! Hope everyone else is doing ok.
