Hope it's not too late to join this thread, I'm due April 19th :) Currently counting down to the start of my maternity leave at 35 weeks :):)

purpleviolet1 · 01/02/2017 12:16

Anyone bought or seen a nice baby record book? Xx

marmitecheesetoast · 01/02/2017 12:47

Jpeg anti-d is only for if you have Rhesus negative blood type (majority of people are positive) so don't worry you haven't missed anything!! Amelie yes, god, massive needle deep into arm muscle, from a MW very lacking in any inter-personal skills! Hmm fun!

Awh Jpeg I love One born but some are a bit stressful! I re-watched with DH one of my favourite ever episodes the other day, it's series 2, the one where the young girl (Lydia I think her name is?) has a really beautiful water birth. Ever since I first saw that (several years ago, way before babies were on the horizon!) I always wanted a water birth. It watches as a really lovely calm, empowering birth. Hope you're feeling better soon.

That's great you got told you could take food/order takeaways! Grin I got a text this morning to take a cushion as the chairs are not very comfy! Nothing about food though! (to be fair, it's not til 7.30pm so I guess time for tea first!)

Amelie I think I'm likely to be one of the latest due dates in my group maybe. I was sort of between two courses, this one where I thought it was slightly early and the other where I worried it was slightly late and I might not make it all the way through! Try not to worry I'm sure it'll be fine! One of DH's friends was signed up to a weekend intensive course but they went into labour the week before! The NCT organiser still made sure she had everyone's contact details and was invited to the post-baby meet up however and they still made friends with everyone Smile

Welcome Hope!

PinkUnicorn1990 · 01/02/2017 13:27

Purple we bought a baby book based on Guess How Much I Love You because I love the original book! Very cute and can be read like a story so I thought baby would like it too when older, if that makes sense! From mothercare.

jpeg28 · 01/02/2017 13:36

Thanks marmite I was worried i had missed something!!
I've only watched a few episodes but I'm hooked! Just watched one where someone literally screamed the hospital down... sort of worried me a tiny bit!! I'm more intrigued of what it's going to be like!

jpeg28 · 01/02/2017 15:18

marmite I'm watching the Lydia one now... I hope I deal with pain like her!! I've asked for a water birth so fingers x we an both have lovely water births like that!

marmitecheesetoast · 01/02/2017 17:54

Awh it's a a really positive birth that one isn't it! It's really stuck with me! Definitely fx for lovely calm water births for us both then! (Apparently labouring in warm water great for the perineum too Wink)

I've had horrible stomach cramps on and off all day and now I've just had pretty bad diahhrea (sorry!) wondering if it's just coincidence or related to anti-d ?!

SharkBastard · 01/02/2017 21:25

I'll be studying Forensic Psychology, marmite :)

Welcome, Hope! How are you getting on?

I am shattered, wish I could sleep more. 6 weeks till mat leave Shock

HopeAndJoy16 · 02/02/2017 10:30

Marmite I don't think the cramps and runs are down to the Anti D, may even you've picked up a stomach bug?

I've started to get PGP recently, I could barely stand up and move around last night :( I've still got 6 weeks at work (on a busy hospital ward) so I've made myself an osteopath appointment. Has anyone else tried this for PGP? Any other advice?? Xx

peanutbutter310 · 02/02/2017 10:39

Hope I've had some niggles for a few weeks, but it's really developed in the last couple of days and now in quite a lot of pain. Particularly when I first get up in the morning. Will be booking in to speak to my GP, but keen to hear what advice you get!

marmitecheesetoast · 02/02/2017 15:26

Sounds exciting Shark!

Thanks Hope still a bit off today but feeling fine generally, I reckon baby is maybe just pressing on my gut or something.

Had a terrible night's sleep last night and really struggling to concentrate even more than usual at work today. Feel like I spent a large part of my time at my desk eating and on MN HmmBlush

First NCT class last night was really good, teacher was really funny and down to earth. There's 8 couples in total although one of the couples couldn't make it to the first session. Everyone seemed really nice and chatty and like they wanted to make friends so hopefully will have some mum friends in the making there, eek! Quite looking forward to going back again on Monday now!

Hope and Peanut hope you find some ways of relieving your pelvic pain soon. NCT teacher last night was saying swimming can be helpful for it?

jpeg28 · 02/02/2017 15:56

Glad your NCT went well marmite... mines tonight! It's 2.5 hours! Seems such a long time!

Theknittinggorilla · 02/02/2017 16:20

Anyone with a previous section getting any scar pain? I'm getting a really sharp stinging pain on one side of my scar, been really sore for the last week or so. Mainly after I've been running around after the ds admittedly. Not sure whether to worry or not, remember getting a bit of pain when I got bigger last time but not quite as sore as this I don't think

abeandhalo · 02/02/2017 16:27

I went to the GP with PGP pain last week as I couldn't even walk last Wednesday. She is looking in to it to see if there is a PGP trained physio near me, but it has really got better anyway by resting more often and following the advice on Pelvic Partnership such as:

  • pillow between knees in bed
  • keep knees together as much as possible, especially when turning over in bed and getting in/out of car
  • frequent warm baths
  • sit down to get dressed

I was getting really worried as I still had 6 weeks at work & I was just in agony but thankfully it seems to be stable rather than getting worse so that's something!

Strubo · 02/02/2017 16:47

I've seen physio for PGP but they just said the same as above advice from abe they have me a support belt but it was more uncomfortable than helpful and they offered crutches but I refused as they didn't help last time.

I'm definitely getting sorer as the days go on but hoping I get through next week at work as after that I've only 2 days before mat leave!

marmitecheesetoast · 03/02/2017 14:40

How did your NCT go jpeg and more importantly did anyone order takeaway?! Grin

CarryOn2016 · 03/02/2017 19:14

nice to hear other people experiences re: delivery.
As I had previous miscarriages and this is the 1st viable baby, consultant wants to make sure baby is safe so looks like it will be an elective c.s but have no date yet. seeing cons at 32 weeks on 24/2 so we will see.
nervous and will go to look at prams, car seats this weekend,
reason I am going NCT is hopefully to meet couples who are similar to us

everdene · 04/02/2017 10:27

Glad your NCT was good Marmite, I am really enjoying meeting other couples!

Am having a lazy day today as I'm shattered - PGP and a ricked shoulder after a pregnancy massage, alongside heartburn, mean I feel as though I have barely slept! Xxx

Strubo · 05/02/2017 11:07

Everybody has been very quiet this weekend! I washed a load of clothes I've been given yesterday, worked out how to fold the pram and attach the car seat adaptors (detaching them was the really fun part, all the instructions tell you how to put the seat on but not how to take it off again!)
Went for a pregnancy massage yesterday which was lovely during it but has made no difference to how achy I am today Confused. I also asked H to blow up my gym ball so I can sit comfortably in the evening, still hasn't been done Hmm will need to nag him later!
How is everyone else doing?

Helbelle75 · 05/02/2017 12:02

It has gone quiet!
All fine here - had the last week off work with a mystery virus that knocked me out. We had our last antenatal class on Thursday- we chose an earlier date to get prepared. It was incredibly useful and I'm now actually looking forward to the birth!
Got a load of clothes from a fb selling site yesterday so washing and sorting those today. Finishing touches to nursery later as well.
Hope everyone's ok, not feeling too grotty.

everdene · 05/02/2017 13:35

Strubo and Helbelle I'm impressed by your organisation!

We haven't yet started the nursery really, it's tidy and ready but full of things still flat-packed (and not much storage yet!).

I want to get a built in wardrobe but am not sure about the cost.

I also need DH to hurry up and suet the garden so we can get a shed and put some of our downstairs cupboard stuff in there so we'll have room for the pram when it arrives.

I am starting to get really grumpy, the aches and heartburn are doing my head in!

Helbelle75 · 05/02/2017 13:54

Oh yes, the heartburn. It's awful, particularly at night.

HLBug · 05/02/2017 14:35

I've started keeping a bottle of gaviscon beside my bed! Quick glug during the night when heartburn strikes is fab. Much better than my old method of sucking rennies...then falling back asleep with them in my mouth and nearly chocking!

I have a day off work on Tuesday. It's officially going to be a "get organised" day.

MygirlKeith · 05/02/2017 16:16

Just to say I NC as I was a bit too recognisable outwith this group as Strubo.

peanut2017 · 05/02/2017 17:54

Hi all

Had a good day yesterday - met a friend of mine who has 3 kids so well experienced & we went shopping for my hospital bag! Smile lovely maternity & breast pads coming out of my ears! Got a baby mat & rocker and baby clothes for the hospital! 4.5 hours on the go shopping & was wrecked after it! The ol girdle pain is back so going to have a bath & do some exercises!

Oh and our cleaner seems to have stolen our camera and a bracelet of mine. DH came home on Friday & the usual bits weren't finished & her key was left on our mat inside the door with no note. Sent her a text to see if everything was ok & no reply. Then spotted the cover for the lens on the ground & DH searched the house (which isn't that big) and it wasn't were we left it! Looked in my drawers where I have a few Tiffany pieces & an old bracelet was taken & a costume one put back in the pouch!

Dp text her to innocently ask did she move it & still no reply! With us for 8 months & was really good. Did leave the agency & the last 3 times she cleaned the house was me paying her directly. She knew I was pregnant & camera (big Nikon one) has our wedding photos, holiday snaps etc & of course was going to be used for when baba arrives! Karma and all that! Felt really strange yesterday knowing she did that & am thinking of getting licks changed!

Hope you all are having a lovely Sunday!
