Ah congratulations amelie! Great to hear your experience of induction wasn't too negative either. Enjoy those newborn cuddles!!

HLBug · 10/04/2017 16:36

Congratulations!! Hope you get home soon x

LuchiMangsho · 10/04/2017 17:50

Aw. How lovely! Newborn snuggles are the best.

peanut2017 · 10/04/2017 18:14

Congrats Amelia. Great news, mind yourself

HLBug · 10/04/2017 18:21

To those who have already had a section - possibly a TMI question - but did you / mws have to shave you before the operation? I have pre op clinic on Friday so I guess they'll tell me then? Just a random thought that popped into my head now!! I'm not sure I'd be able to reach to do it myself Blush

Theknittinggorilla · 10/04/2017 20:01

Hi HL - I had a bikini wax before my due date for my first two sections (as prep for labour as I wasn't expecting to have a section). I don't know if they had to do any additional shaving to do the section, I certainly didn't notice if they did!

This time I haven't bothered with a wax and definitely can't safely do it myself so I reckon I'll just leave it. They will sort if they need to when you are in theatre and you probably won't even know. Could always ask at your preop appointment?

Theknittinggorilla · 10/04/2017 20:03

Sorry obviously didn't read your full message properly! I did have a preop app for my second app as my section was booked for if I didn't go into labour. No mention of shaving, they just took bloods but think it will have been a different experience as I was trying for a vbac and already in early labour.

Theknittinggorilla · 10/04/2017 20:04

And congratulations amelie!

peanutbutter310 · 10/04/2017 20:34

Congrats amelie!

TopKittyKat · 10/04/2017 20:56

Congratulations Amalie
That's great news and great to hear that induction wasn't so bad.
Enjoy your newborn snuggles.

And another arrival! Our baby boy was born on schedule Monday morning although the C-section itself didn't quite go to plan (I was a bit resistant to the anaesthetic unfortunately ShockShockShock)... But we're both fine now and taking it easy. The cliche is true - the baby is so worth whatever you go through to get them!

Oh, and my milk has come in already so all that prenatal colostrum pumping must have had a good effect Smile

LuchiMangsho · 11/04/2017 00:56

What lovely news. Congratulations! And hope you recover quickly.

TopKittyKat · 11/04/2017 07:33

Congratulations Cuppa
Great news Grin

peanut2017 · 11/04/2017 08:39

Brilliant cuppa that's great news

HLBug · 11/04/2017 08:50

Congratulations!!

petiteange28 · 11/04/2017 09:09

Just catching up. Congrats on arrivals.

Peanut I had an internal last night just to check how we are getting on. Apparently my cervix isn't ready yet. It's not a particularly pleasant experience but doesn't last long and to be honest I figured it was nothing compared to what's to come Shock. Unfortunately nothing I can do to get the cervix moving apart from patience (oh and they suggested spicy foods, which I hate, sex, which is super uncomfortable at this size and walking, which I am trying to do but my fat ankles are not loving me for it)

HLBug · 11/04/2017 10:46

Had my last midwife appointment this morning in advance of pre op clinic on Friday - baby is 2/5 palpable so already more than half way down, eek. Midwife seemed to think as long as baby doesn't go much further down it should be straightforward enough to 'pull' back out. So now I'm totally paranoid,! Might just spend the next week on the sofa defying gravity to try and convince baby to stay put rather than keep on moving down!

The irony of this is really brilliant- I went over by 2 weeks with DS and had to be induced in the end. Could I get him to engage?! Could I get him to move himself any closer to the exit hatch?! No!! Did I walk miles every day (well, hobble with SPD) and spend hours on end bouncing on the birth ball to try and encourage him down?! You bet I did!! Sigh.

Midwife said to keep very close eye on signs of early labour...just in case.

peanut2017 · 11/04/2017 14:18

Hi petite that's good to know. It's more the thoughts of it! Had the trace done & just waiting on the doctor to come to do the internal! Wish it was over at this stage!

peanut2017 · 12/04/2017 07:30

Well didn't get the bloody internal in the end! Doctor was busy and we were already there for 2 hours. So back in this morning!

Need to literally wear my big girl pants & get a grip as much more will be happening when baby arrives ha ha

I've had massage and reflexology over last few weeks and has so helped with my ankles. Plus had to buy a slip on pair of shoes a size bigger which helps

TopKittyKat · 12/04/2017 21:48

I hope the internal went ok peanut.

HLbug - I hope you're enjoying chilling.

I've had a lazy day today. I just had no energy and so have been parked on the sofa most of the day pigging out but then regretting it because I get awful heartburn.

I'm off to bed now. I hope you all get a restful night's sleep. Zzzzzzz

peanut2017 · 13/04/2017 09:16

Hey top the internal was grand. Got a tour of the hospital too which definitely helped so at least we have an idea of where we go.

Had a day to myself yesterday then also but enjoyed it to a point. Not used to just sitting and then like you said I'm just stuffing my face then.

Back in on Tuesday to see what is what but doctor said I will go next week Smile really excited now and so happy I took 3 weeks off before baby comes

Hope all the mammies and babies are doing well! Thinking of you all

Cuppaqueen · 18/04/2017 10:06

Just to say for those of you expecting a c-section for the first time (like I was): the first 48 hours are the hardest in terms of restricted movement and pain when you move, but after that things improve rapidly assuming no complications. I'm just over a week post-op and can do most everyday actions comfortably now (including getting up off our low squashy sofa - that took a week!) and walk to nearby shops/cafes.

Also, not to worry anyone, but do communicate with the theatre staff if you find you are feeling a lot during the operation: they can boost your epidural and in my case knocked me out for five blessed minutes (not a full general). So if you're one of those women - and I believe it's rare - who do feel more than they should, you can get help.

Looking forward to hearing more baby news soon! Grin

HLBug · 18/04/2017 13:57

Thanks cuppa that's good to know. I'm still waiting on the ward...not even gowned up yet! They are quite busy today but hopefully I'll get called soon....

Theknittinggorilla · 18/04/2017 22:04

Hi everyone - we had a very smooth elective section today and after being convinced this would be ds3 we had a little girl!

Feeling very relieved and chuffed, she is feeding well and currently having a nice long sleep

HL hope you had a smooth section are enjoying baby cuddles too

Dandelionrarrrr · 19/04/2017 08:18

Hi ladies. I was on the thread 3 months in to my pregnancy but I just couldn't keep following it because of work and home life. I dipped in and out but I feel sad because with DS1 mumsnet was a massive support and I loved following people's birth/pregnancy stories. Never mind. Baby boy due 2 days ago and was feeling incredibly grumpy for the last week because both my dP and DS have been off for 2 weeks and thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to spend time together as a family and for visitors over Easter etc etc. Well it didn't happen... now I've kind of given up trying to induce at home as all my many methods have failed. So pleased to see some of you have had your babies and are enjoying your cuddles.

I kept checking childbirth and pregnancy threads in the hope that something I read miraculously induces my labour 😉😉.
