Argh Peanut and Jpeg I have been looking into perineal massage too Blush

There's not much evidence but it must be worth a go!

That said, in the evenings I am often so tired that even rubbing bio oil into my bump is beyond me by 10pm!

everdene · 31/01/2017 07:56

I found this nhs article which totally contradicts myself - evidence here: ((www.ouh.nhs.uk/patient-guide/leaflets/files/10938Pmassage.pdf))

MyGreenSofa · 31/01/2017 08:57

I just find the thought of perineal massage a bit too cringe and if I ever get a spare 5 minutes I'm not going to spend it doing that!

I've got yet another cold, it's just been one after the other this pregnancy! Feel guilty all the time because I've got no energy for my 2 year old and she's having far too much screen time!

hello
I can't believe it's the 3rd trimester! I have nothing yet.......
anyone having a planned c.section?

LuchiMangsho · 31/01/2017 15:58

Hi, Little one is fine. 30 weeks on Friday. On air, ie no breathing support. Might alternate between that and low flow oxygen but for now is managing fine. Drinking only breastmilk (that I express). He needs to feed and grow and avoid infection. And is being moved to our local hospital soon. Also he's out of intensive care and in SCBU.

PinkUnicorn1990 · 31/01/2017 16:47

Luchi he is lovely, glad to hear he's doing well!

Not been on in a while, Can't believe I'm now in single figures, 9 weeks to go!

Seem have got everything overnight though, I now also have hip and pelvic pain, which combined with a rotten cold giving me rib ache from sniffing and coughing isn't great!

Hope everyone else is ok!

MonkeyArms · 31/01/2017 17:12

That's such great news Luchi and a lovely photo!! Hope you're ok.

I'm feeling horrendous today. Just got home, had a massive plate of beans on toast (as I have done every day for weeks!!) and now on the sofa. I have a banging headache and feel just shit!! Thinking of taking a day off tomorrow but I hate having time off!

11 weeks today for me... still feels like forever!!

Helbelle75 · 31/01/2017 17:28

I'm having to take the week off jpeg. Hate doing it but been to go and Have a coral infection that's really afecting my breathing. Look after yourself first.

luchi he is gorgeous. Cheers me up no end seeing that picture.

10 weeks to go for me. nursery done, hospital bags packed, just need to make some pretty things for the nursery now.

SharkBastard · 31/01/2017 17:44

Wonderful news Luchi he looks so cute!

I've done NOTHING in preparation, nothing. We're going to Ikea in 3 weeks so will buy stuff then. I'm planning on painting the nursery and setting it all up in March when I'm on maternity.

I just cannot be motivated by it all, just want to finish work then relax! I'm applying to do my Masters in October! I range from being excited to thinking I'm mad but such is life!

TopKittyKat · 31/01/2017 18:51

Oh Luchi it's great to hear from you. I've been wondering how you have been doing. He's absolutely gorgeous!

Sorry to hear that your suffering Pink, jpeg Helbelle. I was feeling awful at the end of last week but have bounced back a bit this week.

10 weeks to go for me - 8 at work. Tick tock!

Hayls17 · 31/01/2017 18:58

Lovely picture luchi glad he is doing so well, hope you are doing well too.
11 weeks to go here, and 7 weeks at work. Currently washing all my baby clothes and sorting into sizes, so exciting! I'm guessing the novelty might wear off when I'm forever washing them covered in sick and poo though!

HLBug · 31/01/2017 20:26

Luchi glad things are going well and that's good that you'll be moved to a local hospital soon.

CarryOn yes I'm booked in for a c section - don't have date yet but will be Easter week sometime. Are you having one too? I had my constant appointment on Monday - only thing I'm really worried about is panicking and having a total freak out whilst they are doing the surgery! But consultant basically just said if that happens then they'll knock me out because they won't want that either - talk about distracting! Recovery isn't bothering me that much as I figure it'll probably be the same / easier than recovery after first baby when I had a bad 3rd degree tear - despite the perennial massage attempts the rest of you are talking about!!!

Work is really busy just now so I think it'll actually be hard for me to stop. I normally work 4 days but actually been doing more hours rather than less recently due to looming deadlines. I do, however, have a day booked off next week when I'm going to get hospital bag etc all ready. Oh and must phone the roofer as a big yucky water stain has appeared on the nursery ceiling!!!! Not great timing Angry

Mummymulb16 · 31/01/2017 20:55

hlbug did you choose the c section after 3rd degree tear or was it suggested? My consultant said I could choose and I'm still unsure would like natural but very scared of another tearSad

Glad everyone is sorted I am waiting till I'm on mat leave to sort things hope it isn't too late. One thing I will do tho is pack hospital bag this weekend just in case 8 weeks to go can't wait 😊

HLBug · 31/01/2017 21:48

Mummymulb I was offered it and choose it, but consultants have been great and said I can change my mind back again at any time.

To me, neither option is great. I'm terrified of tear opening again and going further into 4th degree territory. A friend of mine had the same tear open recently (albeit only a 2nd degree so not so bad) and was really close to breaking down in labour because her body refused to let her keep pushing when it recognised the same pain.

Choosing to go through a surgery voluntarily is also scary though. But surely this must be the better option - I certainly wouldn't pick to go through my first labour again. It also will help me calmly send off DS to grannies house on a set day rather than worry about going naturally in the middle of the night and not knowing what to do with him!

I've just realised the first time mums are probably freaking out reading this - please, please, please don't worry!!!!! Although first birth wasn't fun, the fact I'm now pregnant again should hopefully reassure you that it's all worth it and, realistically, labour is just one or two days out of the whole wonderful life you get to have with your DC!

ChatEnOeuf · 01/02/2017 04:58

Ooh, Luchi that's great news! Hope you can get back to your home hospital soon :)

Strubo · 01/02/2017 07:45

Luchi that's great news. He's looking great and I hope you get back to your local hospital as soon as possible.

I'm having a planned section this time due to previous hip surgery. I've had 2 natural deliveries which were hard but OK and I'm feeling pretty nervous about having a section this time but I Keep reminding myself that it's the safest option this time around. It's also nice to know exactly what date he is coming, knowing I won't go 2 weeks over again and being able to organise childcare for the big 2!

marmitecheesetoast · 01/02/2017 09:42

Urgh just had my anti-d injection, what a horrible sensation! Feel like my arm muscle has gone into spasm!

Fantastic to hear from you Luchi and that little one is doing so well! Hope all continues to go to plan. Thinking of Scandi and her little one too.

peanut jpeg and everdene I have also been reading about perineum massage Hmm I think you're meant to start from 34 weeks? DH seems very keen, think he's got a somewhat misguided idea of what it'll involve!

Everdene I've started rubbing my bio oil in in the mornings now as so often I can't be bothered by bed time!

What Masters are you applying to do Shark? Sounds exciting!

First NCT class tonight which is exciting - bit nervous too though, feels a bit like first day at school! All starting to feel very real now.

30 weeks on Friday. Plan for this weekend is baby first aid course on Saturday and then finish getting bits for hospital bag on Sunday. We're still some way off to getting to the nursery though with this bloody ongoing building work ConfusedSad

choccybiscuit · 01/02/2017 10:23

So pleased he's doing well luchi!

Theknittinggorilla · 01/02/2017 10:35

Lovely photo luchi you are all doing so well.

I'm an elcs Easter week as well, my third one so a bit nervous but trying to think positive and like strubo pleased that I will have a date so can organise childcare for the bigger two! Expecting the section to be straight after Easter, and more likely than not on primary school allocation day - won't know which to be more stressed about!

I had a half hearted attempt at perineum massage with number one but pretty sure I wasn't doing it right, not harm in trying anything that might speed things along I reckon.

Sympathies for the sore arm marmite, it bloody hurts! I have escaped this time as baby is negative too Smile

11 weeks to go for me, should really start pulling some things together! So far I am using my mat leave to plan our house renovation and today I am treating myself to a very self indulgent afternoon cinema trip! Making the most of my time to myself as once baby comes it won't happen again for about a decade......

amelie427 · 01/02/2017 11:58

Marmite Had my Anti D this morning too. Ouch!!!! Bloody big one isn't it?!

Luchi Lovely to see an update from you and your little one, I hope Scandi and baby are doing well too.

I'm starting to get a bit anxious over how little we have done to prepare. Have a John Lewis nursery consultation appt booked next week so will get everything ordered in one fell swoop...

My NCT doesn't start until I'm 36 weeks which is a bit nerve wracking - fingers crossed I'll hold on for the whole course! Is anyone the same?

jpeg28 · 01/02/2017 12:10

Very dumb question but what's the anti-d injection for?? Sorry that it hurt marmite and amelie!

I'm off sick from work and cannot stop watching one born every minute!! It's like I want to torture myself!! I just want to know what it will feel like!

amelie my nct starts tomorrow night. No idea what to expect! We had an email saying to bring food and pillows and that we could get takeaways delivered! marmite let us know how yours goes tonight!
