SharkBastard · 30/03/2017 13:07

Congratulations unicorn!

marmitecheesetoast · 30/03/2017 15:14

Aw congrats unicorn!!

Eek sounds frustrating abe this is what I'm worried about, that it'll be difficult to tell if actual waters or what Hmm

Just back from 38 wk mw appt apparently baby is 4/5 engaged which I think technically means 1/5 engaged?!

amelie427 · 30/03/2017 15:41

Congratulations Unicorn!
*
Marmite -* if your midwife has written 4/5ths palpable, that means she can feel 4/5ths of the head, therefore the other 1/5th is engaged in your pelvis. If she's written 4/5ths engaged then... you're 4/5ths engaged! Although apparently this doesn't necessarily mean anything is imminent...

X

Congrats unicorn! Gorgeous.

Just home from having work lunch which was nice & then cake, flowers and a voucher for mamas & papas sweet!

Going for a walk later. Feel like I'm getting a bit of a cold which can feck right off!

Exciting! Hope you're all doing well!

I officially started maternity leave at lunchtime today! Very nice to walk out of the office and not have to go back. I was a little sad though as for other mums-to-bed who have left recently everyone in the team has signed a card and a collection has gone round to buy the mum a massage or vouchers for a nice dinner or something pre baby. But...seems like they forgot / didn't bother for me Sad.

My senior boss (manager above team leader), bless her, clearly realised this morning that no one had bothered and nipped out to M&S for some flowers which she discreetly passed over as I was leaving so that my last morning didn't completely go unnoticed. So...mixed pregnancy emotions!! Took myself off for a nice lunch and got my eyebrows done this afternoon to make myself feel a bit better.

peanut2017 · 30/03/2017 19:33

Sorry to hear that hlbug that is bad form! Hope you are ok! Are you working there long?

HLBug · 30/03/2017 20:02

5 years Confused To be fair, it is my second baby but recently someone else went off for the second time and they didn't forget about her. Ah well. Not to worry - my flowers from my boss are very lovely and the thought of not leaving the house and binge watching tv all day while DS is at nursery is even lovelier!

Totally unrelated but is anyone peeing A LOT at the moment? Like more than normal pregnant lady peeing? Every time I stand up I have to pee. It's been 11 times already today. I don't think it's an infection as had clinic on Monday and nothing came up then. Baby must just be sitting straight on top of my poor bladder! I think I might have read something about it being an early labour thing though...fingers crossed not!!

peanut2017 · 30/03/2017 22:37

That's still hurtful for you! I know I would be a bit hurt by it but sod them, you are finished now!

Am peeing quite a bit but not as much as that! They do say it could be things starting to happen

Tried to ham express again tonight but nothing is coming out! Getting a bit disheartened even though it's only the second attempt. Might give hospital a ring tomorrow

abeandhalo · 31/03/2017 07:31

I'm definitely peeing that much some days, or rather I feel like I need to but it's hardly anything at all when I get there. Luckily we have a downstairs loo that's no more than 6 ft from the sofa!

SharkBastard · 31/03/2017 07:49

I've not been peeing as much as in the 1st trimester, I feel the need when I stand up but when I sit down it's gone! Quite annoying as I'm drinking plenty.

That's really shitty HLBug, I'd be upset too. But I hope you can enjoy your maternity leave :)

Peanut have you tried heat pads and getting your partner to massage your shoulders and neck? When I went to the harvesting class, they said this would help as touching increases oxytocin which helps release the colostrum. I've been very lucky as I've been leaking since 18 weeks

Another day pregnant, getting a bit boring now!

peanut2017 · 31/03/2017 19:57

Hi shark haven't tried heat pads just a warm face cloth. Are they heat pads you would use on your neck?

Will definitely tell the other half to help with the massaging - didn't do it today but don't want to make it into a big thing

My Mam came up today was a great help. Washed the curtains so she ironed them & put them back up. Swept out the front and back & cleaned my shower and ensuite floor. Just gone now - she is 71! More energy than me even before I was pregnant,

Anyone up to anything nice for the weekend?

marmitecheesetoast · 31/03/2017 20:37

Thanks Amelie she didn't actually write it down, just told me verbally Hmm oh well, I don't think it necessarily means that much.

HLBug that's awful, poor you, that would upset me too. Could it be that they hadn't quite organised in time and there's something to follow?! I'm glad you at least got some flowers.

I am peeing a lot now too! Up several times in the night! But the tiniest amount at a time, frustrating! I'm the same Abe I feel like I desperately need when I stand up/am walking but the urge goes when I'm sitting...weird! I'm guessing its the added weight/pressure maybe when we stand up?!

Can't believe its Friday already, the first week of mat leave has flown by!!

SOunds like your mum was a great help Peanut, mine is coming down to stay for a few days on Sunday, looking forward to some help in the house and garden! Mums are just the best aren't they Smile

marmitecheesetoast · 31/03/2017 20:38

I meant to say Shark not abe with the needing to pee when standing up thing! abe I am jealous of your downstairs loo!!

abeandhalo · 31/03/2017 21:18

I have an en suite bathroom as well! I was put off by the ridiculous amount of loos (cleaning-wise) when we first bought our new build house but being pregnant it's been a blessing!! Grin

Even though I'm only just 39 weeks today I am so impatient for the baby to come now. Had my show earlier in the week & I really thought it was go time but now it just feels like there's no action at all I'm just waiting around.

SharkBastard · 31/03/2017 21:43

Peanut the heat bags might be worth a shot or a hot shower before trying again? Heat is good, but deffo get a shoulder rub too!

I have a downstairs loo and it really has made life easier!

PinkUnicorn1990 · 02/04/2017 02:09

Thanks for all the congratulations Smile

Currently enjoying 2am snuggles as little miss seems to prefer me or my husband to the lovely next2me cot! Haha!

Hope all of you are doing ok and relaxing in the last week or so of pregnancy Brew

LuchiMangsho · 02/04/2017 18:58

Hi guys, I hope you don't mind that I am barging in again. Congratulations to all those who have had their babies. If you remember mine was born at 26+5 in January. Well, after only 69 days at 36+3 he was given his eviction orders from the hospital and has now been home for just under two weeks. He's a diddly five pounds (but my full term baby was 5lb 5oz) and his big brother is besotted. In the grand scheme of things we had a super smooth ride through neonatal unit. He was breathing without support at 29 weeks. He's been breastfeeding beautifully. Although he had a small brain bleed at birth and continues to have slightly enlarged ventricles that will require a follow up scan they had absolutely no concerns at discharge.
I hope all of you have smooth and safe deliveries and please do ask if you have any breastfeeding questions. Having breastfed a full term baby and now a 26 weeker I am hoping I can be of some assistance.

LuchiMangsho · 02/04/2017 19:00

And that's him. Clearly much bigger than the 961 gms he weighed when he was born and on his way to trebling his birth weight.

April 2017 # 6 - Third trimester is here!
CarryOn2016 · 02/04/2017 19:15

Oh LuchiMangsho, he is a cute one. He has done well to go through all that and it must have been hard for you. Enjoy now that he is home. take care

TopKittyKat · 02/04/2017 19:57

That's fantastic news Luchi
He looks like such a sweetie. You must be so proud of him.

Thanks for the offer of support on breastfeeding. As a first timer I'm sure I'll have lots of Qs. I'm 39 weeks today so just counting down now!

Congrats again!

ChatEnOeuf · 02/04/2017 20:07

Oh, Luchi I'm so pleased he's home! Congratulations :)

peanut2017 · 02/04/2017 20:43

That's lovely pink enjoy the cuddles

peanut2017 · 02/04/2017 20:48

Luchi delighted to see the update. Have been thinking of you. He's gorgeous. Definitely will have breastfeeding questions. Tried again to hand express yesterday and only one nipple was wet but nothing that could go into the tube. Trying to stay positive. 38 weeks today

LuchiMangsho · 02/04/2017 22:11

Ok so I hand expressed about 90 mins post C section and got 2mls. I was told that was awesome and 0.5mls is common. If you do want to hand express then do it regularly. Also massage the breast and move quickly from one breast to the next. Don't keep at the same one. For me, post C section I expressed colostrum for DS2 and then on Day 3 my milk came in and I switched to using a pump.
