Thanks Purple. Obviously there is still a chance it will move but think I need to start preparing myself that it won't and think about the likliehood of having to have a planned section. Which I hadn't really thought about before. I know it maybe sounds silly but I'd been quite looking forward to labour/giving birth! Hmm

What I'm a bit confused about though is that everywhere online it talks about the placenta having to have moved to at least 2cm away from the cervix. But the sonographer said yesterday that as baby is head down and already part of their head is past the placenta, that they might just be able to nudge the rest of their head past the placenta in which case it would be ok?? Can anyone shed any light on this?

thanks for sharing that info Peanut.

Those that are suffering from sore swollen feet have you tried any of the menthol based soothing foot and calf creams? Not much but I do find them quite soothing when I make DH rub them on my feel and ankles at the end of the day!

I had a horrendous night sleep. Was up between 1.30am and 4am couldn't even face staying in bed as hips and back and IT band so sore Angry Really not feeling work today now!

TopKittyKat · 23/02/2017 10:54

Hi everyone.

Thanks for the info peanut. That's very useful. I've also saved it for future reference.

Sorry to hear people are suffering from swollen feet. Luckily that's one symptom I don't seem to have yet.

marmite - I had a terrible night too. Gave up trying to get to sleep at 2am and came downstairs to watch a film. I think I dosed off at about 3.30am and had a fitful sleep until DH went to work at 6am. I've taken the day off work as I feel awful now today.

I agree abe - it's starting to feel like a real slog. Not sure how I'm going to get through 4 more weeks at work.

purpleviolet1 · 23/02/2017 10:56

Sorry no experience marmite. Know what you mean though about looking forward to a natural birth haha. I may end up with a csection too although trying to avoid it. Baby is breech at moment and as it's bigger than average chances of it turning around are getting smaller. I've got a horrible cheloid scar from my previous major abdominal surgery so that's another reason to avoid c section. With the GD I'll most likely be induced as well.

Just trying to keep an open mind for now.

35 weeks tomorrow!

purpleviolet1 · 23/02/2017 10:59

Apparently GD has higher risk of emergency c section anyway.

Cath3081 · 23/02/2017 12:59

Sorry to hear about your scan result marmite - hopefully the placenta will move in time. My sister had an elective CS and she said she would do it again. Just trying to think on the positive side.

I've been getting really swollen feet too. When I get to work, I kick my shows off under my desk and then I can't get them back on after an hour or so Blush . I had to go out and buy a size bigger.

Theknittinggorilla · 23/02/2017 13:52

Hi everyone, haven't been on for a while, sympathies to all those finding it hard going now. I've not had a bad few weeks but also feel it's getting tough now and the next couple of months will be loooong..,..

For those facing potential c sections just wanted to add a bit of positivity, I'm looking at my third section this time (after an emcs and then a failed vbac) and while not ideal or my original vision of what birth would be, in my experience it really isn't too bad. I'm trying to think of the positives - hopefully I will have a date to meet my baby, I won't go two weeks Overdue so pregnancy will be shorter, no labour pain. After both my sections i was up and about within a few days and driving by 3 weeks. No issues at all with bonding or breastfeeding.

Someone mentioned up thread they were suffering with reflux. I've had horrendous reflux the whole way through this pregnancy, it's been really getting me down. Saw the doctor at 28 weeks about something else and mentioned it and she prescribed Omneprazole. No exaggeration it completely cured my reflux within 3 days. It's made a massive difference as otherwise the next 7 weeks would have felt endless. So if anyone is really suffering it's worth going to the doctors...

Hats off to those still working, I'm 3 weeks into mat leave now and forget I ever had a job most of the time Grin. Though I still seem to be rushing around busy and haven't done anything to get organised for baby! 31+5 today and expecting a 39 week section so should probably start getting organised.

Cath3081 · 23/02/2017 14:35

Oops... just realised my spelling mistake. My previous post should say I kick my shoes off under my desk, not 'shows'.

Thanks for the info on reflux knitting . Might have to ask my doc for Omneprazole.

I've started losing interest at work... which is why I've been on MN more. Really envious of those already on mat leave

PinkUnicorn1990 · 23/02/2017 15:59

I have taken omeprazole all the way through as I have acid reflux... it's amazing! Only have the odd instance of indigestion (not to jinx myself!) so don't suffer if you have it bad, see the doctor Smile
Last day at work tomorrow (will be 34+5) very very happy to be finishing!

jpeg28 · 23/02/2017 17:19

My feet are sooooo swollen today! I've started wearing trainers to work now even though I look ridiculous and I've just got home and they really hurt!! I would love just to wear flip flops!

marmite sorry about the scan result, no experience here but hope you get to have the natural birth you want... hope the baby's head can nudge that placenta out the way!

Is anyone else boiling hot?!!

PinkUnicorn1990 · 23/02/2017 17:46

Jpeg yes!! Keep getting so hot even though no one else is, guess it's the extra insulation from a baby attached to you! Grin

abercorn · 23/02/2017 19:44

Hello ladies,

Mat cover: my HR sorted it in jan when my colleague will be covering and i will return to same job if i come bk in 6 mnths which is wht i hope

Sitting at desk: i feel i dont get enough space between my stomach and chest so i keep changing the height of the chair to feel comfortable.

Night time: wake up every night around 4 for two hrs or so but dont think thrs any solution so im just living with it

Pregnancy pillow: it isnt helping me much although all women who have used say its the best purchase.

Hope we all try to enjoy the few weeks left with the little one inside.

Good luck!

purpleviolet1 · 24/02/2017 07:12

Morning all! 35 weeks today... really should've finished work today but I thought I would be ok until 36 weeks so 1 week left! Am totally ready to finish.

Jpeg my feet were so swollen and tight feeling that I lay in bed and propped them up on birthing ball which helped , but my calves got so sore. During the night I woke up and they were in agony , was so tempted to take ibuprofen but after a quick Google I took paracetamol instead and it did help eventually..

Really hope I can get some decent sleep in before baby arrives! With the GD I won't be allowed to go beyond due date so the longest I have left is 5 weeks eeeeeeeek!

abeandhalo · 24/02/2017 07:23

2 more weeks for me after today! I hope I don't get swollen feet, I'm struggle to walk enough as it is with my hips!

jpeg28 · 24/02/2017 18:08

That's so exciting that due dates are so fast!! My year 11s were making me scared today telling me when they were born, lots of them early it seems!! I've got 6 weeks left of work at due in 7+4 Grin

Feet were not as bad today but bump and back feeling quite achey... please let us all sleep tonight!!!

purpleviolet1 · 24/02/2017 21:08

Sitting in bed with my feet propped up on birth ball (higher than heart) to try reduce the swelling. Happy sleeping tonight all!

everdene · 24/02/2017 21:57

I picked up one of the Mothercare maternity support belts today - sooo good!

Mamato1 · 26/02/2017 00:58

Hi all, just popping by to say hello following a long break in posting. 33+5 and ready for the next 6+ weeks to roll by. Hope everyone is well Smile

jobrum · 26/02/2017 22:27

I'm back! And placemarking!

purpleviolet1 · 27/02/2017 08:10

The first day of my last week at work 😀😀😂😀

marmitecheesetoast · 27/02/2017 08:15

Thanks guys for the insight/positivity around planned section. I think as I hadn't even considered it a possibility it threw me a bit. Will see what second scan says next week.

Any sign of your baby turning yet Purple?

jpeg and pink I am also boiling hot all the time now, and I was usually always the person complaining it was cold before pregnancy!

Had my Physio appointment on Saturday and got lots of exercises to do. Physio said my IT band was one of the tightest she'd ever come across and that was causing a lot of the problems.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm feeling worn out after another busy weekend of building work and decorating (even though obviously I'm not really doing much myself!)

Wondered if anyone had any changing bag recommendations?

marmitecheesetoast · 27/02/2017 08:15

Woohoo enjoy your countdown purple!! Grin

purpleviolet1 · 27/02/2017 08:42

Marmite I also have issues with tight muscles. I find following a YouTube pregnancy stretching video helps loads but not really fitting it in at the moment. I figure labour might be easier if I do lots of stretches beforehand??? So will be trying to do them everyday on ML.

No sign of baby turning yet, can feel all the movements low down. Got diabetes clinic today and they will have a feel, and then 36 week scan on Friday.

Hope everyone else is ok!!

marmitecheesetoast · 27/02/2017 17:03

Yeah lots of stretching is definitely a good idea purple as you say it's just fitting it in!!

Just had the classic 'are you sure you're not hiding twins in there' from a colleague again, hilarious and so original ! Hmm

jpeg28 · 27/02/2017 17:55

That's amazing purple!! Cannot wait to have that feeling of no more work! At the moment I really dread going in which is so not like me. I normally love it but I think knowing I'm leaving makes me so unmotivated!

marmite I have a skip hop one, was £60 in John Lewis, expensive but had vouchers! If I could have any bag I would have the Tiba+Marl rucksack but it's mega money!

amelie427 · 27/02/2017 20:00

I've been quiet on here for a while, lovely to hear everyone's updates!

I have 5 weeks left at work (7 weeks left until my due date). Really hope I've timed it right, as would love at least a week at home before baby arrives.

I've been getting swollen feet on occasion... but in good news, my SPD seems to have gone! I had it from 24 to 31 weeks and the last week it so it's literally disappeared. I'm putting it down to my Dreamgenii pillow..... so, those of you still suffering, if you don't have a pregnancy pillow then do try. I found it hard to get used to but with a bit of perseverance it seems to be doing the trick with re-aligning everything.

My newest ailments are carpel tunnel syndrome and.... snoring. I'm driving my other half mad at night!
