I think I'll be going back to the same job (my maternity pay is 26 weeks full pay and 12 weeks on half pay) so I don't think I'll leave until this baby is born (and I may have another!).

Had to ditch my wedding ring as my fingers are swollen!

marmitecheesetoast · 20/02/2017 08:24

Ha ha Jenny that's what I'd been doing for a while at work too but my chair doesn't actually go particularly low and I can't fit all of bump under desk now!

We had another really busy weekend of building work and decorating, DHs parents were over helping us out but I'm exhausted now, could really do with having a more relaxing weekend at some point ...

I started up with the odd shooting pain in pubic bone area when I put my weight a certain way this weekend, so I'm guessing this is now the start of spd? May need to get one of those support belt things then see if that makes a difference.

I'd also quite fancy a career change only problem is not sure what!!

everdene I'm thinking I should possibly have already taken mine off - not sure I'd get it off now Confused I already had to remove a link from my watch a few weeks ago as wrist had suddenly got bigger!

abeandhalo · 20/02/2017 12:59

I read that post out loud about the support belt and my husband ordered one straight away! The round ligament pains have been horrendous again this week.

Celticlassie · 20/02/2017 13:12

I'm so jealous of those who are off already - I've got 6 weeks to go till I'm finished (9 weeks till EDD) and it can't come quickly enough. Not packed hospital bags yet either, although have finally bought some baby clothes. Will prob pack bags 35/36 weeks. Am far too superstitious!

Cath3081 · 20/02/2017 14:22

Hello... it's been a while since I last posted, but I've been lurking and reading everyone's updates. would love to hear how Luchi and Scandi are getting on.

I'm quite jealous of those already on maternity leave. I'm starting to get really tired at work. My due date is 30 April, and I also stupidly agreed to stay on until my due date. 10 weeks left at work feels like ages! And I don't fancy the idea of going into labour at work! I might see if I can get away sooner. My boss was supposed to find a replacement for me, but is taking ages and nothing has been sorted yet. I've started handing some things over to others in my team and showing them how to do some of the things I do.

I like the idea of changing careers too, but like you marmite I have no idea what I could do. I'm planning on being on maternity leave for 6 months. Not really long enough to retrain in another field.

I'm liking the sound of the bump support belt. Might have to go and get one to see if it relieves some of the discomfort. I've also been looking at a post pregnancy belt - which is supposed to help your belly get back to pre-pregnancy shape quicker. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Do you think it works?

purpleviolet1 · 20/02/2017 19:26

Hi cath, tell me more about this post pregnancy belt! I like the sound of it. I've got a slendertone abs belt which I was thinking of getting ready for after. Not used it in a long time (and never really used it properly even when I did) but this is first baby and I think it'll be really hard to lose it...

HLBug · 20/02/2017 22:39

STUPID FECKING HEARTBURN!

Sorry. That's all I have to say. Angry

abeandhalo · 21/02/2017 04:32

I don't even know what's keeping me awake tonight - some sort of lower abdominal aches & lower backache.

After making myself a full cocoon of every pillow in the house I decided at half midnight to bite the bullet & order a pregnancy pillow now!

Day off work for me tomorrow I think - absolutely typical as it's the only day this week I've actually got meetings on.

jpeg28 · 21/02/2017 06:11

Sorry you had a bad nights sleep abe. I couldn't live without my pregnancy pillow. I have the bed to myself whilst OH is skiing and last night I had the best nights sleep! I only got up to pee twice and one of those times was at 5 so my alarm was about to go off anyway! Lately I've been getting max 3 hours sleep... I feel so fresh this morning!!

purpleviolet1 · 21/02/2017 07:07

Aw sorry to hear that 😣 I find the nights are tough when I'm
Sleeping using the same pillows every night. So i keep changing it about. I have 2 pillows usually but now sometimes have 3 , and. I sometimes use the pregnancy pillow and other times not. It's like the same pressure points get sore otherwise! My hips mainly Sad

marmitecheesetoast · 21/02/2017 09:04

I've got fed up of waiting for NHS Physio and have booked a private Physio appointment - they can see me on Friday! Really hope it can make a difference and stop the pain at least getting any worse. I need to look into bump support belt. When I had a (very quick) Google a lot seemed to be saying they were good for back pain more than pelvic pain?

Sorry to hear of the bad night's sleep Abe. I've actually got to the point where I almost dread going to bed even though I'm exhausted as I cant face another disturbed night Sad

Cath3081 · 21/02/2017 12:36

Purple - here's a link to that post pregnancy trimmer belt I was talking about... www.amazon.co.uk/Underworks-Post-Delivery-Girdle-Belt-x/dp/B0002UCES4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1487680217&sr=8-7&keywords=post+pregnancy+belt&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Not sure if it works though. It seems like a corset type of thing, so probably really uncomfy! I'll give it a try though. Now if only I could find something to help with the ugly varicose veins and purple stretchmarks that have appeared on my inner thighs.

Sorry to hear about everyone struggling with lack of sleep. I'm starting with that too. I think it's pain in my hips and restless legs that are keeping me up.

purpleviolet1 · 21/02/2017 14:50

The reviews seem mixed, it would be worth giving it a shot for £15 though. There was one review and the woman's belly after 4 weeks looked amazing!

everdene · 22/02/2017 07:33

Which bump support belt have people been getting from Mothercare? Am going to try to pick one up today.

marmitecheesetoast · 22/02/2017 10:05

I'm just at the hospital for placenta scan (on the right day this time!!)

I had a quick look at Mothercare online and there were lots of different ones so wasn't sure either which ones people had got?

everdene · 22/02/2017 10:48

Good luck with the placenta scan!

peanutbutter310 · 22/02/2017 13:46

Marmite & everdene here's the link to the one that I have:

www.mothercare.com/support-belts-and-post-birth-lingerie/blooming-marvellous-maternity-support-belt/LU3356.html

I usually wear small on their maternity stuff, but sized up to a medium to be sure that it will have enough stretch as I get towards the final weeks.

Cath3081 · 22/02/2017 13:52

peanut that looks like a nice support belt. It looks more gentle that the corset-type contraptions I've seen elsewhere. And it will probably be hidden under clothing quite well.

Hope the placenta scan went well Marmite. Fingers crossed its moved out the way.

marmitecheesetoast · 22/02/2017 14:02

Thanks for the link peanut

Thanks cath peanut and everdene unfortunately placenta had not moved Sad feeling a bit upset as had really convinced myself it had moved and really wanted to avoid c section if I could. Have got another scan booked in in two weeks at 34+5 to give it a bit more time to move but I guess it's probably less likely that it will move between now and then given it hasn't already. Will just have to wait and see. Obviously whatever's best for baby is most important but just can't help but feel a bit disappointed even though that's probably silly.

purpleviolet1 · 22/02/2017 20:32

Anyone noticed swelling on their feet? I just noticed mine yesterday and was taken aback and again tonight.. they look like balloons! My blood pressure is always on the low side so think that rules out pre eclampsia..

purpleviolet1 · 22/02/2017 20:37

Aw sorry to hear your news marmite. Hopefully it will move by then!

Celticlassie · 22/02/2017 20:37

My feet were also a little swollen today, as were my fingers. BP also low so trying not to worry about it. It was warm in my work today so I think that was probably why. Starting to feel so heavy and uncomfortable now though - I've been feeling quite sorry for myself. Only 31+3 so still a long way to go.

jpeg28 · 22/02/2017 20:39

My feet swell up during the day... I feel it in my shoes!! If I put them up when I get home they are normally ok. I feel like it's only natural at this stage! I actually feel massive today. I think I've finally realised I've eaten too much this pregnancy and not exercises enough!!

peanut2017 · 22/02/2017 21:25

Hey all - was at a breastfeeding class and Physio class today through the hospital some good tips:

Day 3 - baby blues - everyone gets really tears eyed - this must be me at the moment - could cry at the drop of a hat ha ha

If you do have to get stitches - showers and not baths and put cold water on pads and freeze them

Rocker - ok at beginning but only for short period of times

Walkers - said not to use - they are banned in some countries as they don't help the natural development of babies from rolling, crawling to walking

Pears are good for constipation

Flat head - for first four months make sure to change the direction of the baby from their face on same level as you (they will naturally want to face you) one time to next time their feet are nearest to you - not sure I am explaining that right. Said use a peg on out on either end of Moses / co sleeper to remind you

First 6-8 weeks max one hour a day in car seat

Tummy time - start from first week. First 6-8 weeks, 5-10 mins at a time for 3-4 times a day
Then increase times 10-15 mins
Best do do it before feed / after nappy change
Use a flat surface / changing mat

In with consultant today - all fine. Baby now about one week ahead on size - was 3 weeks. Head down which is good.

Hope you are all doing well

abeandhalo · 23/02/2017 07:22

Ooh those tummy time timings are useful I've saved to my phone!

I am also for the first time starting to feel sorry for myself. For the entire pregnancy I have taken it all on the chin and as long as the baby was fine I've not been too grumpy when I've been feeling awful but I am quite ready to swap all this for a baby now! The PGP is doing my head in.
