I can recommend getting a video monitor. It's not something you need, but it's great for two things: (actually usefully) working out whether going in is just going to be more disturbing when they are actually sorting themselves out; and going "awwwwww" and giggling at all the cute and / or hilarious ways that babies / small children find to sleep. DD is 4 and we are still using it (though we won't buy a new one).

Lallypopstick · 07/02/2017 18:30

I went to the mamas and papas event - reasonable freebies of a £10 gift card and a soft rattle, in a tote bag. And a bottle of water! Worth doing if you want anything as the discount is just for that day (10% / 15% depending on how much you spend).

I've got Mothercare booked soon as well.

Naivebutnice · 07/02/2017 18:51

I can recommend Water Wipes. Used them since DS was born and still use them now he's almost 3. If you buy them in bulk via Amazon Family subscription (another top tip, esp for nappies!) they are very reasonably priced and our little guy has had no irritation at all from use (he has generally sensitive skin, including eczema off and on, so we try to avoid anything fragranced or 'chemically'..)

glitterglitters · 07/02/2017 20:38

If you can get to a Costco at all you can get a big box for about £20 and by the point they run out their skin shouldn't be as sensitive.

Cotton wool and water + meconium = 😱😱😱😭😭😭😭

Notyetthere · 07/02/2017 21:45

I bought 6 packs of water wipes in the boots baby event but I intend not use them exclusively. I will use them at the beginning but fingers crossed baby is not too sensitive then I will switch to normal ones. But if baby is sensitive, thank you for the amazon and Costco idea. MIL goes to Costco regularly so I now have something else to get her to pick apart from the usual massive trays of sausages and garlic breadGrin

I got water wipes this week from boots. They are currently doing a box of 9 packs for £16.

DrewOB0 · 08/02/2017 12:54

Morning all! 16 weeks here. I keep having really bad constipation pain :( more lactulose is in order :(

LuciBee231015 · 08/02/2017 16:20

Hi Ladies, all good after the 20 weeks scan. Checked brain, heart, arms, legs, hands, feet, kidneys, stomach, lips, bladder, spine...loads of measurements!! But confirmed all good and where it should be! Soooo happy!! We didn't find out the gender, keeping it a surprise! Pic attached!

Notyetthere · 08/02/2017 16:39

Luci that is brilliant. Glad it went very well. I didn't realise they checked so much. How do long did it take to measure and check all of those parts?

OP posts:
thumbsupforthesixbillion · 08/02/2017 16:43

That's great Luci! And a brilliant picture!

rhodes2015 · 08/02/2017 16:51

Great news luci!! Glad everything went well x

LuciBee231015 · 08/02/2017 17:14

I'm in love with the picture I can't stop looking at it! I'd say we were in there for a good 45 mins. She thoroughly checked each part, so for the heart she checked all of the chambers and blood flow in and out, also checked where the cord attaches to baby and the blood flow, blood flow to the kidneys... measured the brain. There was quite a bit, she printed it all out for me to put in my file. There is a standard list of things they have to check.

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 08/02/2017 17:21

That's really thorough! Glad me and DH have taken the whole afternoon off now.

CatRash · 08/02/2017 18:55

Great scan picture Luci! Glad everything went well!

Anyone else having really weird dreams??!

Lallypopstick · 08/02/2017 19:14

Luci that is one cute baby! Can't wait for my scan next week (earlier than 20 weeks but no complaints here).

Cat I am having such weird dreams. So vivid. Sometimes they involve me being a terrible mother and forgetting about my baby, so those ones aren't too great. But others are great fun!

rhodes2015 · 08/02/2017 20:14

Cat I dreamt I had a baby boy that was born still in the amniotic sac!!!?? (I'm having a girl) it was SO vivid!

CatRash · 08/02/2017 21:32

Glad I'm not alone!!! Mine are just....Weird!!!

I dreamt last night my baby was.....something. Not sure if it was a cat, dog or armadillo...Maybe it was a combination of all three! And I was explaining to whoever was sat next to me that it was really convenient when breastfeeding as he just ran up to me when he was hungry, fed then ran off again. WTF?!!

Night before last I dreamt I fell in love with an undercover Policeman that I met in Tesco car park and was planning on running away from DH to be with said fictional policeman. I also smoked a fag in the dream and I quit smoking July 2015!!!

Kind of worried what tonight will bring!!!

Mawita · 08/02/2017 21:58

Haha! Cat loved the armadillo/cat dream, how practical!!

I had loads of crazy dreams last week sadly all work related. They varied from everyone quitting to me deleting all my files. ( I am sad) have made an effort this week to clear my mind before bed. Bought lavender essence and doing some bedtime breathing... so far it seems to have worked!

Kitsandkids · 08/02/2017 22:38

I dreamt last night that I had the baby, a girl, and that I had a big argument with my husband over her name! I woke up in a bit of a huff with him and reached for my phone, thinking 'I better tell people she's here' before becoming more fully awake and realising that actually she (or he) isn't.

I'm feeling a bit sick tonight. I've got to nearly 20 weeks without any sickness. I don't want it to start now! Pretty sure I've been feeling movements for the past few days. No real bump yet but tummy feels firmer in general.

DrewOB0 · 09/02/2017 09:26

cat same here except horrendous nightmares. One that I lost the baby, another that I was being stalked by a creepy guy. I dread to go to sleep :(

TinklingTheIvories · 09/02/2017 11:47

I dread sleeping, but other reasons. My back is playing up. I've pulled my trapezius muscle and there's not a lot I can do about it except keep up the paracetamol. Night is the worst when I'm sleeping as I'll twist or move and then it's agony!

In other news- midwife today. Heard the heartbeat yay! All bloods are normal. Everything going well, which is nice.

rhodes2015 · 09/02/2017 12:52

Tinkling, I hate sleeping too! I hate sleeping on my side as I'm normally a front sleeper and I've got a cold. I get up the moment I open my eyes as just don't enjoy being in bed!

CatRash · 09/02/2017 14:20

Glad to hear everyone else is having odd dreams too! Although sorry to hear about the nightmares Drew! Ahhh Kits I know the type of dream - my DH can never work out what's he's done to annoy me funnily enough!

Sorry to hear about the back problems Tinkling. I don't envy you at all!

Rhodes I'm a front sleeper too and if it's not front it's back. I find sleeping on my side soooo uncomfortable!! I have a big u shaped pillow which helps keep me on my side but I still hate it. Luckily I can still manage sleeping on my front but doubt it'll be much longer!

glitterglitters · 09/02/2017 14:53

I'm a side sleeper but having to sleep on my side now is horrid. I keep throwing myself about while in bed as well and put my dh's back out by accident.

Notyetthere · 09/02/2017 15:26

I am a side sleeper and in theory even better that I usually sleep on my left but I think once you have to do something it becomes a chore. I have woken up and found myself sleeping on my back. I have a dreamgenii pillow and I dont think it has helped apart the bit between my knees. I end up sleeping on top of the back support bit.
