I've been getting back aches recently but I'm pretty sure it's because my posture has changed and I can't straighten out my back, I've got this sort of off balanced lean back.

Definitely call the midwife to be sure though Not, its what they are here for!

Cat hope you appointment goes well and you get to listen in to baby/get checked out properly.

DaisyQueen · 02/02/2017 14:28

Cat sorry to hear that the bleeding hasn't settled. I had quite a few bleeds like you describe during my last pregnancy and everything was fine so I have my fingers crossed for you x

Notyetthere · 02/02/2017 15:25

Cat hope your appointment goes well. They may even throw in a scan just to ensure all is well. Thinking of you.

CatRash · 02/02/2017 15:37

Thank you all and that's good to know Daisy.

Just back from midwife appointment and she just said bleeding is fairly common and nothing to worry about. Even when accompanied by cramps and back ache! No listening to heartbeat or offering of a scan unfortunately - oh well.

Might get a doppler to use at home. I've seen some fairly good quality second hand ones on there previously.

Spindelina · 02/02/2017 15:48

Sea, with DD I can't remember when I first felt anything, but it definitely wasn't before my 20 week scan.

Lostmyemailaddress · 02/02/2017 17:51

Hi would it be ok to join ? I'm due on the 21st July which is my oldest dc birthday. Having a bit of a complicated one this time round but those who I know in rl are due long before me.

Seahawk80 · 02/02/2017 18:18

Thanks spin I'm sure baby is fine I just struggle a bit with anxiety, I'll be better once I can feel it.

Welcome lost Smile

Spindelina · 02/02/2017 19:10

Hello lost!

How many years gap? My EDD is 4yrs, 364days after DDs due date was. She was born 12 days after EDD, so of this one is 13 days after EDD then they'll share a birthday.

Sorry it's complicated though.

crombanna · 02/02/2017 19:36

Hi everyone. Been reading updates but nothing interesting to add. Just bimbling along over here.

17+3 today. Husband finally coming round to pregnancy and even said he's getting excited. Phew! Feeling kicks now...The baby seems to like coffee, and being on the bus...

Cat if your midwife isn't worried I wouldn't be... But offering to listen to the heartbeat would have been nice. Kind of annoyed on your behalf.

Not your uterus is stretching and growing a lot at the moment. I find that needing a wee or poo gives me a crampy feeling. Have you thought about doing a urine test at GP? UTIs often cause these kinds of symptoms.

Hope you're both getting on OK this evening.

CatRash · 02/02/2017 20:45

Welcome lost!

Yeah that's what I'm thinking from. Yes it would have been but then again I'm not sure they had very good equipment there - the only listening in equipment I saw was one of those horn "Call the Midwife" style devices!!!

Lostmyemailaddress · 02/02/2017 21:37

It will be 14 years between dc1 and dc7 Blush and 2 years between dc6 and dc7. Dc 6 was born 6 days before dc4s 4th birthday so this will be second time there's 2 birthdays in 1 month. This was a surprise baby and I can definitely say there will be no more.

Mawita · 03/02/2017 08:40

Hello all,

Cat sorry to hear the midwife was so casual about it all. I think they see so many of us that they just forget that to us this is THE most important thing in our lives. I was really unhappy with my appoiment as I didn't even get a chance to ask any questions so I have booked to see my GP to ask my questions. ( i had to jump to turn the fire alarm a couple of weeks ago and I have had a bad pain on my side since specially when I pee) I am sure it's fine but I don't think we should take their bad patient manner on our stride. If you are worried, just demand the time with your doctor/midwife.

Sadly our system is so overworked that only those that cry the loudest get proper attention.

Not hope you are feeling better today. But if I was you I would consult your doctor/midwife if the symptoms persist.

In terms of symptoms:
I've had a horribly busy week at work which means the insomnia is back and I have dreams of everything going horribly wrong with my events!! threat of tube strike on Monday is not helping.

I have barely any space to eat, if I overeat I get so bloated it hurts! I have been struggling to get my portions right and every meal is an adventure as to how bloated I will be. I have stoped eating in the evenings as that helps me sleep better.

And last symptom is rage, quick spurts of it, but I get so unreasonably angry!! Hard when at work so have to spend most meetings biting my tongue...

Happy Friday all! Thank god is the weekend.

M

DrewOB0 · 03/02/2017 08:58

Morning all! How's everyone? I have 16 weeks appointment in a week, and no weight gain at all, is that going to be a telling off? ( my midwife likes telling me off :s)

jld128 · 03/02/2017 09:23

hi all bit of a tmi alert but is anyone else having lots of discharge? i'm 17weeks and some days are more than others it's always white/clear just wondering really?

LuciBee231015 · 03/02/2017 09:40

Hi ladies! Happy friday!

Cat and Not, hope your feeling better today.

So I'm officially half way today, 20 weeks!

Jld, yes I'm with you there! Pretty normal as far as I am aware!

Notyetthere · 03/02/2017 09:47

Mawita I stopped having evening meals back in the 1st trimester. The discomfort with the bloating normally lasted all night. Metabolism ground to a halt. It has improved a little now but I am now identifying foods that make it worse (no more plantain with smoked turkey nutty sauce for me Angry)

OP posts:
DrewOB0 · 03/02/2017 09:59

I think discharge is normal unless it smells bad or coloured. Definitely higher here too.

bluebird1235 · 03/02/2017 10:06

Definite yes to the discharge! As others have said, I think unless it smells weird you're ok...

I have discovered the cure for my insomnia! I seem to wake up after about 5 or 6 hours sleep needing a wee and have been completely unable to fall back to sleep... until now! I have discovered that I am actually hungry, despite not really feeling that hungry but If I have a glass of milk when I get up for my wee I go back to sleep in seconds, it's brilliant!

rhodes2015 · 03/02/2017 10:19

Luci, arh happy 20weeks! Wow half way Shock

Drew, I didn't put a pound on up to 14weeks but in between then and now (18+3) I've put 6lbs on.
I'm enjoying food again though Grin
My midwife didn't even weigh me at my 16week appointment.
Jld, also yes to discharge!

Notyetthere · 03/02/2017 10:27

Luci eek! Congratulations on being 50% there. It feels like such a milestone. I will be 20 wks next Saturday and I can't wait.

Thank you all for checking in, I am feeling much better today. the cramps have subsided, the migraine/headache is still there. I wont take anymore pain killers; I have a 2L bottle of water on my desk and I intend to finish it by 4pm. See if it helps.

Jld yes that is normal. Should be white with a very smooth (creamy) consistency. when you rub in your fingers, it should almost disappear not leave lumps (the wonders of you tube). Apparently some people find that they are pregnant just by checking for this consistency.

Drew that made me laugh. Picturing walking into the surgery, head hanging in shame for whatever wrong you have done that you don't of yet but the midwife is about to enlighten you Grin. In all seriousness, don't worry about it, you might be surprised that she is very nice to you.

Does any know whether we have any male community midwives? Just wondering really. I know we have them at the hospital and birthing centres.

OP posts:
thumbsupforthesixbillion · 03/02/2017 10:43

Yay to 20 weeks Luci, I'm a week behind you so will be there this time next week. Also have my 20 week scan right on time.

I have caved and ordered some maternity clothes given the angry red lines all my trousers are currently giving me. Asda do a decent range of plus size maternity stuff at reasonable prices so I've ordered some bits from them, including two swimming costumes, I'm hoping one of them fits so I can go swimming again!

DrewOB0 · 03/02/2017 11:01

Has anyone found good work pregnancy trousers? I went everywhere and nothing! H&M only have skinny fit ones.

LuciBee231015 · 03/02/2017 11:15

Drew, I got mine from next they are perfect and only £24

DrewOB0 · 03/02/2017 11:18

The shops near me don't seem to stock maternity range. Maybe I should try Oxford Street?

LuciBee231015 · 03/02/2017 11:22

I'm so excited to be 20 weeks, but all of a sudden feel like it's coming really fast!
I feel really well to be honest, I was active before so have tried to keep it up. I do swimming on a Tuesday, yoga on a Thursday and then some weight training on a Saturday and Sunday.

The only thing getting to me is lack of sleep. I fall asleep just fine but staying asleep is the issue. I can't get confortable and laying in one side gives me shoulder ache so I have to swap several times in the night which is quite a big move when you have a bump! So I wake up every time. I have a dreamgenii but doesn't help that much to be honest. Oh and I get up to pee... but I did that anyway!
