Hiya,

I'm new to mumsnet. My due date is 29/07/17 and this is my first pregnancy....super excited!

LuciBee231015 · 26/01/2017 16:58

I don't take mine to work! They stay at home and I only take them to appointments!

I have a definite bump but no linea negra yet. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow.

I've had a couple of nudges on the side of my belly too but wasn't sure if that was it?!

Notyetthere · 26/01/2017 17:04

Luci I think my linea negra is showing quite early because I have darker skin. As for the notes, I work too far away from, Dh works shifts and his phone might not on when I'm taken to hospital in an emergency while in London.

Even as part of my risk assessment at work, my boss now knows that my notes and inhaler are together in my backpack so if I'm out of it, he knows where to start.

The last few days, about once or twice a day, I've had a shooting pain/sensation that starts at the bottom of my tummy then travels up to the top of my right arm where it culminates in a kind of painful itch. Anyone had anything similar? Could it be baby pressing on a nerve?

Naivebutnice · 26/01/2017 20:17

I'm about 17+5 and have been feeling nudges and kicks for the last week or two. This is my second so apparently it happens sooner (or you just recognise it). Yesterday evening, after a rare but pleasant 'romantic interlude' with my husband, she started kicking so much that I got DH to put his hand on my tummy and even he felt it! We didn't know whether to get freaked out by her swift reaction or just laugh about it so we laughed about it. It was a cute moment.

On a more mundane note, I had my midwife appt on monday. Felt like a colossal waste of time. I had to wait 70 minutes beyond my allotted time because they started late due to a staff meeting, all she did was take my blood pressure and check urine - all fine - and fanny about updating all the same notes we went through last time. I asked about listening to heartbeat and she said they don't do at this stage yet. I'm at UCLH. With DC1 I seem to remember having a much better experience, but so far it's been quite shambolic. Still, I'll probably stick with them now; better the devil you know and all that...

Lastly, on the notes, I take them to the appointments but they are otherwise at home. Never occurrred to me to keep them with me at all times although I guess it makes sense. Probably still won't bother; I can already barely carry my work bag as it is...

Kitsandkids · 27/01/2017 09:24

Naive - similar happened to me at my consultant appointment the other day. I waited over an hour to be seen, in a busy, chaotic waiting room, then they mainly went through my medical history which I told to the midwife on my first visit with her.

TinklingTheIvories · 27/01/2017 18:26

Just had my letter back from the hospital regarding the nt screening. Amazingly low risk. So relieved! (1 in 3143 for downs, less than 1 in 100,000 for the other two)

I'm a happy tinkling tonight, so going out and 'celebrating' with pizza.

I almost changed my mind when I was at the hospital but decided to get it done anyway.

glitterglitters · 27/01/2017 22:46

I seem to have developed a horrific bad back overnight!!! I've never had any issues with my back but my lower back, particularly my left hand side is now killing me 😭 trying to pick up the toddler today was utter agony

Kitsandkids · 28/01/2017 08:08

I think I felt the baby move last night. A kind of fluttery feeling.

In other news, I've bought a pram!

TinklingTheIvories · 28/01/2017 08:24

Glitter - bad backs are horrid. There's not much that I can do about mine as my usual painkillers are off limits.

Kits - exciting news about the pram. Which one did you get? We're waiting until after the 20 week scan for ours. Should have moved by then which'll make it easier too.

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 28/01/2017 08:41

Hi all, just checking in post house move. I've tried to take it easy during the move but it's definitely taken its toll now, I'm exhausted. Bad backs over here too, though I think it's all the bending down! No feeling from baby yet, I'm 18 + 1 today and only feeling slightly impatient!

CatRash · 28/01/2017 08:53

Glitter sorry to hear about your back. If it continues try to find a local osteopath with experience of pregnant women. I have ongoing back issues and when I saw my osteopath last week he sorted me out!

When do you stop feeling like an overstretched bloated balloon with a bladder the size of a walnut? I'm 14+2 and I'm sure it's getting worse rather than better!!

Delighted81 · 28/01/2017 08:58

Hi,
I'm new to Mumsnet
So much useful info and support from other mums to be. I'm expecting my first Baby. EDD 07/07/17

Kitsandkids · 28/01/2017 09:12

Tinkling - I was going to wait until after 20 weeks but this one came up on a selling site at a good price so we went for it. A Silver Cross Balmoral. I've always wanted one but couldn't afford new but this one's in good condition.

glitterglitters · 28/01/2017 10:01

Oh wow kits! Those are the prams the Royal Family use! I bet that will hold its value well.

Thanks for the sympathy and empathy guys. May look into an osteopath appointment this week :)

CatRash · 28/01/2017 11:59

I've been thinking about what to do in the nursery as we need a unisex theme and I had decided on a woodland neutral coloured theme.

Today in Wilkos I found the perfect set of storage tins which are just perfect - see photo - only £3 for the set! Will find some use for them - cotton wools or something!

Yes - I am overly excited about tins!!

TinklingTheIvories · 28/01/2017 12:12

Cat - we're going neutral too. We've been looking at the vintage Winnie the Pooh. I've always liked it, and have some decorations already from when I was young. There will be quite a woodland theme too as it's set in 100 acre wood, so may have pop and get me some of those!

rhodes2015 · 28/01/2017 12:51

I had a very vivid dream last night that I had a boy (we have been told girl twice) Grin

Cat, love them! I get excited about anything storage related!! also going neutral but greys. Although rooms not even been plastered yet (DH is a plasterer & hates doing anything in ours) so it'll prob be finished a week before she's due.

CatRash · 28/01/2017 13:49

Awww Tinkling that's a great idea!! I love Whinnie the Pooh too! We actually had Pooh quotes on the table numbers at our wedding! If you do decide to get some I found them in the stationery section.

Rhodes Do you know for certain it's a girl yet or just people's guesses?

Haha I know exactly how you feel - my DH is a painter and decorator and it's a battle to get him to do anything round the house painting-wise!!

Spindelina · 28/01/2017 14:31

We need to turf DD out of her bedroom (which is decorated exactly as it was when it was our bedroom Blush) and get her in the other bedroom (which is two floors down, rather than one floor up, from our room). But we've got at least a year to do that before the new baby moves in. Might do it as her Christmas present.

We do need her out of her bed before this one arrives though - she's in a cot bed that I'm planning to use as a sidecar.

Spindelina · 28/01/2017 14:33

My DH is a programmer / professional geek. He has no issue tinkering with stuff at home. I have no idea how anything works round here!

The power tools are all mine, though.

LuciBee231015 · 28/01/2017 15:29

Bad back here too ladies had it for weeks. Lower back on the right, sometimes just walking hurts. I did pregnancy yoga on Thursday and we did some lower back and pelvis stuff and it seems to have helped actually. So so relaxing too.

I'm going for neutral grey with white stars in the baby's room. I have the wall paper already and everything else is in my head. Just need to get started really. Will give it a month or 2 though.

I've been feeling the odd gentle nudge in my tummy, happening a bit more now so hopefully starts to get stronger.

19+1 today. Still got to wait a week and a half for my 20 week scan though! Literally cannot wait to see baby again.

rhodes2015 · 28/01/2017 16:30

Cat, we were told girl at private scan last sat and then consultant confirmed girl on Thursday when I had scan & transvaginal to measure cervix length.

Kitsandkids · 28/01/2017 17:47

I don't think I'm going to bother with a nursery for the baby as it will likely be in with us for the first couple of years.
