Its amazing seeing how many of us there are! Just a small correction, I'm due the 13th not 31st.

I can't wait until I see a bump, almost everyday I'm checking my tummy to see if its harder or there is a bump visible.

sparkle789 · 23/01/2017 19:50

Wow! I can't believe how many of us there are.

I think I felt a kick earlier, like a pop. I'm waiting to see if I get any more so I know for sure. 16+1 today. I felt kicks at 19weeks with dd1 and 17weeks with dd2.

jld128 · 23/01/2017 20:20

Thank you! oh well i'm DC1 as in this is my first :)

Bawbles · 23/01/2017 20:32

I've booked onto hypnobirthing course today which I'm really looking forward to.

I'm still grumpy though, even yoga teacher annoyed me tonight - was talking about yoga breathing then mentioned 'some mum's have tried this really expensive course called hyperbirthing which is a load of rubbish'

I had assumed a yoga instructor would be positive about relaxation techniques and meditation approaches. Honestly I find myself rolling my eyes at everyone, poor DP is treading on eggshells.

Kitsandkids · 23/01/2017 21:52

Notyetthere, will you do me a little favour and change my DC number to 1 please? Seeing DC3 makes me think everyone will think I'm an old hand at this giving birth malarkey and will know what I'm doing, when that is not true at all! Ha ha! My foster children came to me aged 5 and 6 so there are lots of stages I know absolutely nothing about!! Thanks.

beckieHN · 23/01/2017 23:42

Can i join too. DC1 due on the 27th july. Have my first consultant appointment tomorrow and third midwife appointment. No idea what to expect, i'm considered high risk due to being hospitalized due to HG and mental health problems

mummycaitlin · 24/01/2017 07:21

not my EDD is now 18/07 thank you!

So who here has told work already? Any tips?

LuciBee231015 · 24/01/2017 09:31

My boss knew before I even told him, I was only 5 weeks! We work really closely together and he noticed something different about me straight away! Mainly being a forgetful wally! So I had the chat with him early on. Told HR just before Christmas after my 12 week scan. Nothing is official with work until you give in your MatB1 form to confirm when you want to go on maternity etc, I think your midwife gives this to you at some point. I haven't got one yet.

Spindelina · 24/01/2017 10:00

I had to tell my line manager straight away because of my work, and he'd known about the two other pregnancies in 2016 so it wasn't exactly a shock! Then my actual line manager got back from maternity leave, so I told her. Then I asked another colleague to babysit for my 12 week scan so I told her. Then I told my other colleague the next day - she knew about the two MCs, so equally unshocked! They are the only people I've told so far.

Notyetthere · 24/01/2017 11:00

I told my boss at 5wks as I was very sick and very dehydrated very early on. I am the first pregnant lady he has ever managed so it was a learning experience for both of us with regards to risk assessments and other HR requirements.

OP posts:
Holz657 · 24/01/2017 11:07

I told my work; they were pretty much fine with it apart from one individual who's nightmare anyway so I'm not listening :) also for the next updated list, my due date is now 28/07/2017 and this is my first child :) hope everyone is well xxx

Notyetthere · 24/01/2017 11:10

Oh I haven't officially announced to the rest of my colleagues. Whilst I have told some as I am quite close to them, I was hoping the gossip mill would do the rest for me. Basically I'm not hiding it and if someone asks me about it openly I just respond matter of factly, assuming everyone already knows.

TBH most people in my office don't really care and if I someone told them that 'NOT' is expecting they would wonder why they are being told. It is the kind of office where when one of our colleagues comes in with baby to meet the team, several of them roll their eyes.

OP posts:
Blink1982 · 24/01/2017 13:30

I told someone at work in confidence and they went and told her and managers so they could risk assess. Risk assess what?!?! I sit at a pc all day. So that annoyed me. Most know now I'm 14 wks though.

When you next update the list I'm dc2 due 25th July.

CatRash · 24/01/2017 13:49

I decided to tell work this week due to a lot of upcoming antenatal appointments and my suit jackets are starting to look tighter! Also due the nature of our work I felt bad for our clients too.

I messaged the colleagues which I consider friends Friday night so they knew first. I then emailed my line manager and the two other managers in team first thing Monday morning using my work phone so they could get over the shock and discuss it before I got to the office and had to face them.

No-one had guessed and I think it came as a surprise to everyone which is good! It's slowly making it round the office now and I'm getting a million and one questions fired at me about it - be prepared for that!!

Notyetthere · 24/01/2017 14:20

Cat now that is where my work place differed. Didn't get many questions fired at me. In fact they were uninterested. Once someone asked about whether they were getting someone to cover my position during maternity leave but even they seemed rather blaze about it. Maybe because I am in a male dominated part of the company.

Blink that is rubbish. I would have been disappointed in that colleague and definitely not told her anything in future. Even if I am behind a desk all day, I do sometimes go out to site especially at night and weekends. I rather liked my risk assessment as it looked at not just site work(not allowed on site anymore due the risk of slips, trips and falls) but also reviewed my commute to the office (working from home today due to derailed train on my route which would have been a nightmare for me to get a seat), going to office later on after rush hour to ensure I had a seat, leaving the office on an earlier train to avoid the late rush hr. And the funniest but looks like whoever put the RA together thought of everything - regularly (not very well enforced thank God) breaks away from computer to decrease chance of swollen feet and thrombosis Grin.

OP posts:
glitterglitters · 24/01/2017 16:23

I'm a freelancer and work from home so slightly different for me.

I'm a writer and have a number of different clients and editorial teams, my biggest client also happens to be a very close friend. I was bricking about telling her but had to really before people started commenting on Facebook etc. She has been fab and we've worked out a plan so I can keep working via KIT whilst also taking maternity leave and allowance.

My other clients I'm slowly telling one by one, good thing is I have a lot of ad hoc clients so it's not a huge deal really I just have to make it clear I'm not available from x date (when they are born) and I'll just have to do a big push for new clients when my maternity allowance time is up.

It's a lot better than my first pregnancy when I was signed off for months because my workplace were horrendous.

DrewOB0 · 24/01/2017 19:04

That went well, I should trust people more.

Notyetthere · 24/01/2017 19:09

Ooh Drew tell us more. How did it go?

OP posts:
DrewOB0 · 24/01/2017 19:14

Just told the boss, there's was suspicions. Clear chat about going to see HR tomorrow. All good

Mawita · 24/01/2017 19:17

Hi all, I told work this week as the bump is rather noticeable now and I am tired of hiding it.

My colleagues were wonderful, super happy and helpful. I have slowly told extended team and other people.

In all it has been nice to be able to breathe out...

Seahawk80 · 24/01/2017 20:09

I told work really early as I had a a follow
Up appointment at the epu which made me late. Luckily for me my boss's wife had a baby 8 months ago and the manager under him is due 6 weeks before me so they are very understanding!

Not was it the derailed train at Lewisham? Jealous you got to work from home. I normally get the dlr but luckily found out before I left home as it would have been rammed so I went an alternate route.

Does anyone else find the baby on board badge a bit useless as no one sees you as they are all glued to their phones? We need that thing they have in Japan where the badge sets off an alarm near the priority seats!

Notyetthere · 24/01/2017 21:56

Sea Yes was the Lewisham derailment. Oh poor you, did you manage to get a seat? I live further out past Sevenoaks so my route was really messed up. I dont normally check train times before I get to the station but this time I wanted to catch the earlier one and realised that all the Tunbridge wells trains were cancelled. I could have changed at Sevenoaks but I anticipated everyone would have the same idea. I worked from home yesterday because of another broken down train. At this rate, It's looking like I might not get to the office this week!

I haven't used my baby on board badge yet but I normally get a seat unless if there was a cancellation then my train will be packed. The last time I wanted to use it it so packed that I was miles away from the seats anyway, nobody in them would have noticed.

I remember months ago, train was packed and a man announced to the whole carriage, "could someone give my wife their seat, she is pregnant!' Lots of people offered then but most people are all looking down at their phones or sleeping.
