Welcome jan! Yep I remember Emma's diary being somewhat patronising... not sure I'll bother with the bounty kit this time either didn't use a single thing w dd1 did anyone find it useful? Yep that sounds familiar zig pregnancy is so glam isn't it Grin With that & sickness I've not done any exercise in weeks. Can't wait for the glowing 2nd trimester and bags of energy to get back to it (she says optimistically...)

Lixon · 30/12/2016 09:20

Zig I definitely tend towards that end of the spectrum rather than constipation, I think it's quite common. Also no risk of it being caused by healthy eating or exercise here!!

Congratulations on the scan largemelons, must be such a relief after your worries. And good luck today MrsG

Congratulations and welcome to the new posters including Jan :)

My early scan in London was with my ultra baby, close to Canary Wharf so very convenient for work and only £80 also with a doctor but had a ~35 minute wait - not sure if that was just because it was the last date before Christmas but might try FMC next time!

My MW app is 9 Jan with 12 week scan on 30 Jan. I will drag my husband to the latter but doubt he'll bother to ask for time off for the midwife..

Further to the mackerel discussion above, I really like the expecting better book for guidance on food stuff like sushi (among lots of other things, really helpful if you're prone to anxiety!!) - it basically concludes there's no greater risk in eating fresh raw fish than pregnant while not so if you ate it before there's no reason to stop. It also has the attached diagram showing a few common fish on the omega oils vs mercury scale..

Kirstyinnorway · 30/12/2016 10:19

zig Grin at your !

Thank you Lixon, that's a similar outlook on how I view soft eggs. We don't have lion standard here, but I've eaten soft eggs 2 - 3 times a week since moving here 3 years ago and have never been ill... Would be pretty unlucky to fall ill now, and since it has no direct effect on baby (just indirectly affected by Mum being too ill to eat/drink), I'm just continuing. I love eggs in all forms and refuse to eat nothing but hard-boiled for the next 7 months!

TMI26 · 30/12/2016 11:31

Hi zig I was suffering from the same until a week ago, was slightly worried

TMI26 · 30/12/2016 11:33

(Soz accidental post) so read up on it and apparently it's quite normal in early pregnancy, issue to the crazy hormones and your bodies way of flushing out anything it does not want.

Emeraude · 30/12/2016 12:15

Zig - I have had the same for a couple of weeks. Seems to have stepped up recently with an increase in morning nausea. I suppose it beats throwing up.

MrsG280516 · 30/12/2016 12:31

All good at the scan, measuring 7w 6d which is spot on with ovulation and a lovely little heartbeat Grin

Denna81 · 30/12/2016 13:03

Congrats MrsG Great picture! So exciting to see all the scans- can't wait to get my appointment.

DH keeps saying to have faith but there's nothing quite like seeing for believing.

The last few weeks I have been occasionally POAS to reassure myself all is progressing as it should. I promised myself today would be the last day as I know it isn't healthy and the tests can be unreliable. Was pleased the CBD showed Pregnant 3+ as I thought it it should as i'm 5+5 - not anywhere near as exciting as a scan, but i'll take it.

thenorthernluce · 30/12/2016 13:40

Sorry if this is a strange question, but I've definitely pigged out over the festive season (I don't feel any nausea when eating, was my excuse!) and can see the results in my face/cheeks/chin(s)/belly - is it safe to 'diet' for the next month or so? Nothing extreme, just cut down sugary cals a bit, but I don't want to put the bean at risk. I'm 8+4 today.

Thanks!

ScottishLady7 · 30/12/2016 13:42

Haha Denna same here- got my 3+ on my last CBD today and I'm 5+4.
It has reassured me a bit for now but I've also just booked an early scan for 6+6 so fingers crossed all is well then!

Nausea has well and truly arrived in the past 24 hours Sad

Denna81 · 30/12/2016 14:07

Heh it's the little wins eh Scottish? Eeep early scan excitement- i'm a bit scared to book one in case they can't see anything. I emailed a local place who said, as i'm overweight, it should be possible but images may be seriously distorted so I think i'm just going to try and wait it out for my hospital scan- at least they will have the kit to scan internally if the regular way fails. My booking in is 8+1 so hoping to ask if they can get me in sooner rather than later, lest I actually go mad waiting.

Sorry to hear about the nausea, this sucks - I've only had occasional waves when i'm hungry and as a result am eating all of the things. Mood swings have been my main symptom and they've been a joy! Hope this doesn't last the whole time; my poor DH.

Northern i'd think its safe to cut out junk but I would replace the calories with healthy stuff where you can. I've heard that slimming world is the diet to follow if you are really concerned - I've gained half a stone over Christmas so will really have to cut back on the junk if I want to stay healthy.

Fattycowagain · 30/12/2016 15:01

Dieting as in a strict diet isn't good, but eating a carrot instead of a cookie is!

Fattycowagain · 30/12/2016 15:03

Had my third(!) scan this afternoon. Finally found a heartbeat! Baby measures 4.5millimeter, which makes it rather remarkable that they can actually see a heartbeat!

firsttimer12345 · 30/12/2016 15:11

Had our booking in today, relatively low risk so midwife is encouraging home birth. DH looked horrified but I feel quite optimistic about it. We actually live on hospital grounds coincidentally, so any issues and we'd be in hospital in a matter of minutes.
Would be much more convenient all round TBH, labour in front of Netflix!

JasperPotato · 30/12/2016 15:17

That's great, Fatty! Grin

Fattycowagain · 30/12/2016 15:22

firsttimer, I am aiming for a home birth this time! Didn't get one last time, as my waters had broken and then nothing happened, so I went to the hospital to get induced. But a home birth is still something I really want!

OP posts:
firsttimer12345 · 30/12/2016 15:32

I think I've nearly talked DH round to the idea fatty. He's keen to sit on the sofa rather than an uncomfortable hospital chair with his nespresso Wink. I think he's just worried about problems and mess, but we are so close to the hospital!

Fattycowagain · 30/12/2016 15:37

Tell him not to worry about any mess, as the midwife will take care of it.

Problems: you are really close, so if there is anything amiss, you will be in the hospital in a few minutes. I live about 20 to 30 minutes driving from the hospital, but that is fine. If anything goes wrong, the midwife will call ahead and the hospital will be ready to get their things in gear. If you already are in hospital, they still need some time to prep the room and find all the people needed for a section, so it takes just as long!

Anything else he is worried about?

OP posts:
firsttimer12345 · 30/12/2016 15:51

Well exactly!
I think that's all he's worried about really and keeping the cats away but that's not really an issue, just an excuse Smile

I hope you manage it this time, I just think it must be wonderful to be able to relax in your own home with your family and your new little gift.

Fattycowagain · 30/12/2016 16:15

It would also be very convenient for baby sitting duties for the eldest. She can go to my mum, who lives just one street away. If I can stay at home, mum can bring DD back once the new arrival is here.

Amber9083 · 30/12/2016 17:52

Hi all :) positive pregnancy test on 28/12/16 so I think due end of August but I guess will know more accurately once I have a scan! From my dates I think I'm 5+4, first pregnancy. Im a bit worried as I have been having some spotting but GP says they won't refer for a scan at EPU until 6 weeks so just have to wait and see for now.

Brainfried1986 · 30/12/2016 18:22

Hi Amber - welcome :) sounds like you're the same dates as me, I've had a bit of spotting again over the last few days, which was freaking me out a bit...
Found a website on mc odds which made me feel a lot better (based on viable research too from the sounds). Sorry if anyone already posted this and I didn't notice!
spacefem.com/pregnant/mc.php?m=11&d=21&y=16

So, today my eye started feeling weird & itching, so I rubbed at it, and now I've got this weird swelling under my eye! Like a fluid thing... apparently it can be related to fluid retention? Anyone else had this weird symptom??? Might have very little to do with pregnancy of course!

So jealous of the lovely scans - but saving pennies so not going to get an early one. Just a long 6 1/2 weeks til I can see my little one...

Amber9083 · 30/12/2016 19:41

Thanks brainfried, that link was helpful and fairly reassuring with those odds! Fingers crossed for us both!
If I do not get an early scan at EPU next week am now thinking we will end up paying out for an early private scan just to reassure us!

HaichM · 30/12/2016 19:44

Sorry I've not posted in the new thread. Hi to everyone. I an without a mw appt yet. I was meant to see them on the 22nd but she took 1 look at me and sent me to get admitted for dehydration. Spent 2 days on the early pregnancy ward with a drip. Made it home for Christmas thankfully but I'm still really struggling to eat and drink (I have hyperemesis) so not doing much of anything.

She was meant to ring me to rebook yesterday but hasn't and I've spent lots of today in bed. Should I wait or try and get in touch (though I don't have their number)?

I had a scan while in hosp to see if I was having twins and check things were ok. Baby had strong heartbeat and measured at 7weeks 6. I'm 8+6 now.

Dixiechick1991 · 30/12/2016 20:47

Went to see my GP and got my booking appointment date right st the end of January so I'll be almost 10 weeks by then. Pretty exciting. I just know time will go slow when usually it goes so fast

Anyone else constantly bloated, like I've got some belly that no matter how hard I breathe in it just won't go away, never had it before!
