Yay new thread! I've got my GP appointment on Friday, who'll then refer me to the midwife.

I'm a bit worried that I don't seem to have any symptoms at all. Apart from a touch of nausea yesterday when I had a late breakfast, I've been fine. Is it strange that I'm a bit envious of those who are really feeling it? Ok, yes it probably is, the grass is always greener and all that.

We told our parents at Christmas, as me not drinking would have been very noticeable. DH went a bit overboard in trying to make it seem like I was drinking, and kept booming "How's the WINE?!" at me, while I was sipping red grape juice. Subtlety and secrets are not his strong suits.

Largemelons · 28/12/2016 20:41

Hi, just placemarking.
Finally rang and made a booking appt for next Thursday and also booked myself an early scan for tomorrow! I'll be 8+2 so hopefully there'll be a nice wiggly bean in there. Feeling very nervous despite having the most vile symptoms ever. 😩

Largemelons · 28/12/2016 20:46

fudge in my last pregnancy I didn't even know I was pregnant until 8 weeks so no symptoms at all apart from noticing I was extra thirsty.
This is the only pregnancy where I've felt particularly awful really,

FudgeCrackers · 28/12/2016 20:53

melons sorry that you're feeling crappy. Good luck for your scan tomorrow.

Yes, I've been assured by MIL that experiencing nothing is fine (former midwife); doesn't help the niggling worry though. And tbh, there are moments when I forget I'm actually pregnant.

HellsBellsK · 28/12/2016 21:22

Just rang the hospital today to book my consultant - think we do it a bit different over here. They asked would I like a early scan so going for the 14th Jan and then they will send me a letter for my 12 week scan when I meet the consultant and a midwife.

I don't really have a lot of symptoms so a little worried. Im hungry all the time, little tired think thats a bout it.

firsttimer12345 · 28/12/2016 21:33

Wish I could forget fudge!

We have booking in appointment on Friday too and I'm super worried about the blood test. Massively scared of needles and always takes ages to get anything out because I get so tense. Any tips for chilling out a little?

ZigAZigAhh · 28/12/2016 21:59

Thanks for the new thread fatty (and sorry to hear that teeth-brushing is causing you so much bother, hopefully your dentist will be able to give you some reassurance).

Today has been rough - relentless nausea and not feeling myself at all. Am working tomorrow (from home at least, thank god) but if today is anything to go by my productivity levels will be looooooooow (which I really can't afford at the moment, there's so much on!)

One bit of good news is that I have managed to move my initial GP appointment (which I need before I can be referred to the midwife service) forward to next week, so that will be something to hopefully look forward to.

ZigAZigAhh · 28/12/2016 22:01

first - I hate needles too! I find that really deep, slow breathing helps a bit (or at least it seems to trick my body into thinking it is relaxed even though my brain is in overdrive!)

Writerwannabe83 · 28/12/2016 22:17

So exciting all this talk of midwife appointments!!

I've got an 8 week scan on Friday 6th (privately done) and then I have my midwife appointment on Tuesday 10th.

It's becoming very real!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 28/12/2016 22:37

Hi All
Congrats on all the baby bumps!

Have been lurking for a couple of days, due date (ATM) is 24th August my friends wedding date oops!
This will be my second I have a DS nearly 2. I lost my first early on so still very worried at the mo but 4 strong lines on tests (getting peeing on a stick obsession!) so fingers crossed Smile

BlueIguana · 28/12/2016 22:53

Hi All. I'd like to join the group also please! My due date is 21st August. Hope everyone is feeling fine this evening. I've been getting quite light headed today so trying to keep energy up with lots of snacks! Made it through Christmas via Becks Blue non-alcoholic beer! Can't say it tastes amazing but kinda hit the spot.

BlueIguana · 28/12/2016 22:55

Please can someone let me know who I message to be added to the Facebook group please? Thanks!

TeamLentil · 29/12/2016 06:14

Good morning! Can I join? 6 weeks, first time pregnant, due date 21st August.

I called my GP and they told me to self refer to a hospital of my choice. I did and they've sent me a letter with an appointment for an ultrasound at almost 14 weeks. I don't mind because I'm going to pay for a private one at 9 weeks for reassurance and because of my age, but isn't that too late for a first midwife appt? Blush

OkyDoke · 29/12/2016 08:59

No midwife appointment yet for me, but am only 5+3. Took a form in yesterday and was told to ring in two weeks to get one booked in!

sandsandwiches · 29/12/2016 09:08

Congrats lentil that does seem late for 1st appt, I thought scan had to be done by 13+6 to be accurate for dating/risk scores... I had a late date for my booking initially but then they sent a 2nd letter moving it forward so now it's next week. Still no scan date though they'll book that next week...hoping they'll be space too! I'd call and see if they can move you.

Congrats bluel too! I'm quite partial to a becks blue now, hoping it'll see me through new year Grin You can pm sociallyacceptablecookie & she'll send you a link to the fb group, it's a hidden one.

Hope my fellow sickness sufferers are improving.. I finally think I'm over the worst of it. So nice to be able to eat again, think I'm going to put all the weight back on catching up on Christmas chocolate!

Fattycowagain · 29/12/2016 10:42

I've gained 1.5 kilo so far, so not too bad. I gained nearly 30 kilo with my first, so I'm hoping to avoid that this time around!

TMI26 · 29/12/2016 10:49

Congrats ladies in your exciting discovery, I am having a bit of a moan, I've turned soooo lazy I've done literally nothing for a week, need a shake up - and actually need to do something before I go mad. I don't even have an excuse, I'm nauseous and tired but not throwing up like so people - it's just pure laziness and it's destroying me!

Kirstyinnorway · 29/12/2016 11:21

Hey ladies, I've got a daft question for you. Tried to google but getting mixed results!

Mackerel is Ok I'm small (1-2 portions per week) quantities, yes?

But is tinned mackerel in tomato sauce already cooked? I've only eaten it straight from the tin before and assume is isn't just cured, but actually cooked through?

I'm craving it on toast but don't want to open the tin only to realise I can't eat it!

The make is Sabbur (a Norwegian brand) if it matters!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 29/12/2016 11:50

Kirsty I was told in my first pregnancy you couldn't have any mackerel because it contains mercury, but it may be different now ? Sorry 😩

MrsG280516 · 29/12/2016 12:21

You can definitely have up to 2 portions of mackerel a week. On the John West website it says the mackerel is cooked as part of the canning process so I assume that's how most brands do it :) enjoy Kirsty!

Kirstyinnorway · 29/12/2016 13:05

Brill, thanks MrsG, didn't think to look up other brands (d'oh... Can I blame baby brain at 5+4 no )

Cracking open the tin now!

LittleMiss my Ovia pregnancy app also says no, but I'm going with the good old NHS website as Ovia is quite American and they do seem to go a little OTT over there with advice IMO! It's so different country-to-country though, here in Norway people eat smoked salmon (raw, unfrozen), take vitamins that are not recommended for pregnancy in the UK and have no issue with caffeine either! They all think I'm mad when I say I'm avoiding all the above and getting my pregnancy vitamins from the UK Grin

TeamLentil · 29/12/2016 14:45

I've now got a date in January for midwifery care...it's all starting to feel very real! Shock

Largemelons · 29/12/2016 14:55

Had a lovely early scan today! All is good, measuring 8+5 due date 5th August! Feeling very relieved and happy.

August 2017: the one in which we'll get midwife appointment
bluesdetoi · 29/12/2016 14:57

Yay congrats largemelons! Must be such a relief for you that your nugget is progressing nicely :)

MrsG280516 · 29/12/2016 15:02

That's fabulous melons I've got mine tomorrow morning Grin
