Had a sweep today. Im 39+3. The doc said it was a really good sweep he did and that im 1-2cm. He said he will see me within 48hrs to have baby. He said its a Christmas baby. Told me to come straight in if any change in movement. I asked if i should make an appointment for nxt week, he just said yea but its a Christmas baby..

Minispringroll · 21/12/2016 18:30

Nojo How did you get a sweep before 40 weeks? Mine didn't even offer it until I was at 41. Hmm
I was told I could ring up any time this week to have another,..but quite honestly, he either turns up by himself before Friday or he gets forcefully evicted. One or two days don't make much of a difference anymore now.
I'm currently waiting for my Christmas food delivery. It includes the food I've ordered for my family so that they can pick it up at our house when they arrive (while we'll be in hospital). I better let the neigboughs know...

Minispringroll · 21/12/2016 18:33

neighbours Hmm

Nojo82 · 21/12/2016 18:52

I dont know mini it was the first thing he said to me. I wasnt refusing lol. He then said aftef coz ive had a lot of itching he would prefer for me to go early. Just need things to happen. Hope so..

NurseRosie · 21/12/2016 22:37

Aww, how cute is Romy x
Hope all is going well for those still waiting.
Im struggling a little today, my nipples are on fire. I think we have thrush, drs app in the morning. Nipple shields are helping so I recommend for anyone with sore boobies.
Excited to get my lo weighed tomorrow. After that having my side if the family's Christmas Day which will be lovely. Lots of cuddles for the little man and our first sleep over at my mums.
Hope all the baby prep and Christmas prep is going well for everyone x

Londonmamabychance · 22/12/2016 00:59

Feel for you bumble it's infuriating when DP's don't help out as much as needed. Pregnancy is so tough! Hope he gets it now.

Good luck Nojo hope your baby comes soon and same to everyone else waiting!

DD now seems to have accepted baby and helped change his happy today and came runnnig with his blanket. See how long it lasts!

My stitches are so painful I can hardly walk, am surprised as it's just a split of the outside lip (sorry if tmi) but it's so painful when walking and peeing! So annoyed as just want to Get on with life and makes me dependent on my mum who's here to look after DD quite a lot and I feel shea getting tired of helping out and just wants to relax. Really don't enjoy being dependent on her for help, as she can be a bit difficult about it.

On the bright side had a lovely visit from friends today and baby is sleeping and eating well, and a friend of mine offered to lend me an electric bread pump so maybe I can get this engorgment under control. To everyone saf they can't bf, I understand why you'd feel this way but really really don't beat yourself up, all bodies and situations are different and we are each doing our best in our specific situation. My sis had v low supply with all her theee kids and with the third she exclusively bottle fed from the beginning alongside me breastfeeding my DD of same age and both are today at 2 happy healthy toddlers. Is really true that fed Is beat and to add to it, a happy mummy and well functioning for family unit is best! If bf works from you, great, if not, that is fine too! Really dislike all the persistent on us mums to be this way or that with everything.

Londonmamabychance · 22/12/2016 01:00

Pressure not persistent

Bigfam · 22/12/2016 01:18

Londonmamabychance get yourself to the gp, you might have an infection down there. I had stitches with my 2nd and although painful it wasn't at all as awful as you've described. Hope you're OK.

Thanks nurse I hope your nipples are better soon (sat here giggling after writing that!)
We still haven't done our Christmas food shopping, I know it's crazy but anything I bought before now would have been eaten. We're going to brave it tonight while Mil watches kids 1 through 4 Grin

SolomanDaisy · 22/12/2016 03:20

London, I found a feme pad really helped when I was sore.

bigfam, so cute, what a lot of hair!

Congratulations to all the new arrivals.

My DD had her first injections yesterday, which wasn't fun. Even the Dr didn't like injecting such a small baby. She's gaining weight well though.

lilydaisyrose · 22/12/2016 04:13

Baby girl born at 41+5 at home in the pool on Weds 21st Dec weighing 7lbs 2oz.

Bumbleclat · 22/12/2016 04:24

Aww Lily Congratulations!!
It was my due date yesterday and am planning a water birth of my little girl, I'm so glad you got to have a home birth too- gives me hope!
Enjoy Flowers

Bumbleclat · 22/12/2016 04:26

Thanks London All sorted with DH, he's been a bit sheepish today though a lot more helpful with keeping on top of things, I think we were just really tired and a bit traumatised by our hospital stay.

I haven't got a blood clot or anything so I'm now just excited for the birth.

NurseRosie · 22/12/2016 04:29

Congratulations Lily. Sounds lovely, a home water birth.

Thanks Bigfam. I'm so sore, guess this is the down side if it all. DS is still managing to feed well though. Going to see a useless GP this morning but it's the only app they had. DH is a bit weird about people seeing my boobs when I feed and wanted me to cancel my app because it's a male Dr. I told him to stick it, I'd flash the Pope ATM if I thought he could help.
Hope the food shop goes well and it should be quieter in the evening.

Bigfam · 22/12/2016 04:55

Congratulations lily how amazing that you got to have your home birth! I remember you posted yesterday about how you were going to be induced on Friday, so you must have gone into labour soon after that.

Soloman I can't believe your dd has already had her injections, it's gone so fast! I hope she's ok and doesn't feel too poorly & it's great to hear she's doing well with her weight gain. Romy is my hairiest baby yet Grin but she'll end up losing it by around 3-4 months, all my babies have developed an old man hairstyle, they end up with a little bit of fuzz around the sides and bald on top!
Hopefully if it's thrush you can get some treatment and it will improve nurse
Well done for sticking with bf even when you're in agony (hugs) I wouldn't be able to do it x

duxb · 22/12/2016 05:24

Hi all - congratulations on the new arrivals. Feeding going better - we have a plan for the "lazy but greedy" girl we have on our hands. She is back up to above her birth weight and thriving. All jaundice etc gone.

For the most part we have herzsettled in a feed every three hours if she hasn't woke herself demanding.

The issue now is every single night the 10.30/11pm feed is a nightmare that lasts at least 3-4hours of constant wailing and fussing with cries like she is in pain. Cuddles, feeding, winding - nothing helps. Not sure if it could be silent reflux or colic but my god, we need to sort something. Poor little lady is exhausted (as are we!)

Otherwise I'm feeling much more settled and we're learning loads about each other. I still can't believe we made her.

SolomanDaisy · 22/12/2016 06:06

I have been meaning to recommend this for ages, it's like a miracle device for when a baby is in pain or fussy with wind.
www.kipkep.com/en/16-woller-heatpack.html

I had thrush with DS nurse, it's miserable. I hope you get it sorted. Wtf was your dh thinking wanting you to cancel the appointment?!

NurseRosie · 22/12/2016 07:16

He's a prude Soloman, lol. Luckily I take absolutely no notice of pretty much anything he says, so we're good.
Dubx, that's rubbish about the wind, must make bedtime a pain. We are still on with Infacol and the wind/colic strokes or baby massage. Ds normally does some massage farts and a poo after the massage so I know it must do something. I tried without the Infacol as wasn't sure it did anything but it def does, had a very cry day that day.
It's good that baby is in a routine, mine cluster feeds sometimes do instead if 3 hours it's like 3 minutes between feeds.
Glad you are feeling more settled.
Thanks fir the encouragement Bigfam,it's tough but I'm stubborn x

DartmoorDoughnut · 22/12/2016 07:34

Congrats lily!

Hope the GP helps rosie it sounds horrible you poor thing Sad glad you told your DH to not be so daft! If he'd show his chest to a female GP why wouldn't you show yours to a male one Grin have a lovely pre-Christmas Christmas!

We're doing our Christmas food shop today, I had about an hour of sleep last night, I hope I don't get trolley rage!

london I'd def get that checked like bigfam said sounds very painful Sad Oh and be careful with pumping as it'll make your boobs increase supply which won't help with the engorgement!

Oh she's gorgeous duxb! Glad the feeding has settled down. Have you tried sitting her upright, one hand on her lower back gently straightening her and one hand supporting head then moving her in a circle? My first DS had the same and it was the only way to shift his! I'll try and find a link to a video for you as I am too sleep deprived to explain properly!

Can't believe she's having vaccs already soloman! That must've been so hard bless you ((hugs))

Eskerina81 · 22/12/2016 08:19

Nurse I saw a male gp last week about my mastitis & he got a chaperone in before he looked at my boobs so your DH really has nothing to worry about. (I thought it was all a bit unnecessary - couldn't much care who sees them at the moment. They're out half time anyway!)

Bigfam · 22/12/2016 09:30

I had to have a male surgeon operate on my breast abscess, I don't think dp even asked. Hope you're OK nurse
Here's Romy with my big baby Josie! She's smitten with her

What gorgeous girls bigfam

cnchapmanxx · 22/12/2016 12:25

Just checking in. My due date tomorrow and slowly losing the will to live. I've had no twinges, no signs, no leaky waters, lost a bit of my plug in November but that's it. Can see me drifting into January and being ready to pull my hair out.
Arghhh
Congrats to all the new arrivals ❤️

Stargirl84 · 22/12/2016 14:57

Beautiful babies bigfam and dubx.

My sweep didn't work, despite me being 2cm dilated...still here in grumpy corner at 40+1 and if one more person says 'Ooh, could be a Christmas baby!' I'll slap them round the face with a wet kipper.

Bigfam · 22/12/2016 15:37

🐠 haha stargirl that got my first giggle of the day. Dd3 is sat there laughing along but wondering why, bless her!

StubbleTurnips · 22/12/2016 16:47
