Fingers crossed for a soon arrival Mini.

Bonkers, I would have done the same. All babies loose but as long as baby starts to gain I wouldn't worry. My lo lost at first and is now averaging an ounce a day in weight gain. You need your rest too or you'll burn out. Baby will let you know what they want and when they want it. I've been shocked by all of the "professional advice" and the reaction if it isn't taken. Everyone patents differently.

Dubx is you baby having a growth spurt? As far as the wind we are using Infacol which I thought was a placebo at first but having stopped it for a day I really noticed the difference in my lo. I also do the colic strokes of baby massage. My lo has reflux though and is a sicky baby. We have had episodes of cluster feeding too but during the day which isn't as bad. Is there anyone who could come and cuddle baby for a few hours and give a bottle to help you get a break? We started with a dummy, against advice, but the best move ever. Your baby could be comfort sucking, would you try it? We also co sleep when baby won't settle. Basically, reading this I've gone against all advice given and am doing my own thing (worst parent ever), but I think things have improved. Maybe speak to your midwife for support tomorrow and don't end up like me, haha x

Thisisbonkers · 18/12/2016 18:02

Oh duxb can your partner/husband take the baby out for an hour or so in the pram and leave you to sleep? It's so hard, harder than I ever expected

DartmoorDoughnut · 18/12/2016 18:03

duxb as mentioned above kellymom.com is a fab bf'ing resource as is www.laleche.org.uk as far as I know you can contact LLL at any time for advice Flowers

Glad you're ok bonkers hope you poo soon Grin

Fingers crossed for you mini

Thisisbonkers · 18/12/2016 18:04

We had a good night last night so if we can repeat that then I don't mind waking him too much until he's gaining the weight again. But if he's up squawking for hours he can bloody well sleep through if it's offered!

Bigfam · 18/12/2016 19:08

duxb I agree with trying a dummy (I know they advise not to when bf'ing) but if baby is comfort sucking it could be a life saver. Romy comfort sucks and without her dummy I don't think she'd sleep half as much as she does. Have you got a sleepyhead or similar if you're not keen on co-sleeping, I tried the other day with her in the purflo nest and found that worked well. You can lay with your head really close to baby to give them some comfort. I hope you manage to get some rest tonight.

duxb · 18/12/2016 19:58

Hi all - thankyou for the links, will no doubt have a read at 2am!

We have been giving her a dummy at night, just to try and comfort her. It is a help as when i do finally get her to settle, it's with my arm in her crib, encouraging her to use her dummy and quite often holding her hand or rubbing her feet. It's just getting her to that stage.

She certainly has the Moro reflex.

We will see what tonight brings. Husband has been great, incredibly supportive during the day but can't really take her out unless I have breast milk expressed as sometimes, she will constantly want to cluster feed so it's made more difficult.

Yes we have a sleepyhead but have been advised not to add it as a crib insert (into our snuzpod) and the thought of putting it on the bed between us scares me.

Flowers for all the advice to me as a nervous, constantly over-thinking first time parent

NurseRosie · 18/12/2016 20:10

DH has just given LO 4oz of expressed milk and he is still restless like he's hungry. Spitting his dummy out which usually means he's hungry but he can't be can he?

DartmoorDoughnut · 18/12/2016 20:15

If in doubt offer more food, if here hungry he'll eat, if they aren't they won't Flowers that's what I do/think in any case!

DartmoorDoughnut · 18/12/2016 20:15

he's not here

NurseRosie · 18/12/2016 21:03

He had more, might have to start increasing the about I express at a time. Only been freezing about 4oz at a time.

Bigfam · 18/12/2016 23:12

Urgh talk about the worst possible time to have a bad stomach 😥 feel like I'm in labour again!

Nojo82 · 18/12/2016 23:23

Horrible bigfam..

Ive had to take anti histamine tonight, this itch on my feet at night is getting unbearable. So hoping it knocks me out for a good wee while too..

goinggrey1978 · 19/12/2016 01:56

Sorry haven't posted In ages stuck in hospital for various reasons with very little service!!

Markus James arrived on Thursday 8/12/16 @ 4.31pm, weighed 8lb 3oz, induced on 6 /12/16, contractions started at 1am 8/12/16, waters broken and hormone drip, very long story from there, involving lots of stitches!! But no epidural or c section, so got my own way!

Hope your all well and catch up soon, once I'm out of here!!

DartmoorDoughnut · 19/12/2016 03:03

Feel better soon bigfam

Congrats grey!

Middle of the night feeding session both boobs and a nappy change and he's now passed out again whereas I'm awake Hmm hopefully back to the land of nod soon!!!

Thisisbonkers · 19/12/2016 04:30

Also up feeding. Not as to plan as last night but hopefully he'll go back down.

Seriously though, child. Don't wake up wanting food then refuse the boob preferring to duck your fingers. It's 4am. Ain't nobody got time for that shit!

NurseRosie · 19/12/2016 04:44

Congrats Grey!
I've had to get up and express. Lo is passed out and my boob hasn't been fed off of in a while and is massive.

SolomanDaisy · 19/12/2016 05:03

Congratulations grey!

DartmoorDoughnut · 19/12/2016 05:56

That can be the issue with expressing as well rosie I think as you increase supply

Bigfam · 19/12/2016 06:59

Congratulations grey hope you're doing OK.

Fuck, I've been awake since 3am. It's dd1's birthday today as well and I feel like a zombie!

DartmoorDoughnut · 19/12/2016 07:30

This book is awesome, making the night feeds enjoyable Grin

Popskipiekin · 19/12/2016 07:53

bonkers feel your pain! My milk is coming in and there is so much there for the taking. He does one side and sits there rooting around for more but when offered more he just blinks up at me not sucking, and then wakes up again within the hour. Grrrrr. Cute kid though Grin

grey congratulations! And commiserations on the bday exhaustion bigfam - lots of hot drinks and sugar to get you through it!

Essybird · 19/12/2016 08:28

Busy times over here - our little boy arrived on 13th (2 weeks late, induced). We are getting to know each other and I am completely smitten!!!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 19/12/2016 09:16

Congrats grey and essy! Flowers

Off to midwife appointment shortly, hope she can give me a sweep but we shall see how it goes.

OrianaBanana · 19/12/2016 09:30

Congratulations grey and essy!

Sorry for the TMI Blush but thought you ladies would know - I had a sweep at 1pm yesterday (very soft cervix but not dilated, only insofar as I've already had one DC, so she couldn't get a finger in), followed by nothing much. Stomach cramps all night but of the digestive kind. Just now (I have a maternity pad in just in case) I've noticed a fair amount of beige-ish discharge - is this a delayed reaction to the sweep do you think? Not waters (aren't they pinkish and liquidy as well as more)? Smile

StubbleTurnips · 19/12/2016 09:44

Congrats going & essy!

Oriana fingers crossed.

No movement here.
