Nurse ah poor baby, with the sore bum metanium really is brilliant we've used it a lot for DD. I'm not sure the age it can be used from but is worth checking.

Sol I'm not sure we could survive without calpol.

DS is huge so I'm not sure we'll be in 0-3 that long, 10lb4 at his 10 day check today!

We're finally discharged from the midwives, baby now 9lb3!

well, kitkat, i am delighted to say that our little wilfling, a girl weighing 3.5kg, was born shortly before midnight on tuesday night, an emcs after a 25-hour labour. i had a bit of a tough time at the end and she has fed almost constantly since, but the joy of having her has conquered the lack of more than a snatched couple of hours' worth of sleep.

dh was amazing, midwives and other hospital staff have been so kind and i am hoping i can get through the imminent blues period as inget to know this beautiful new human.

i feel being one of the very last on such anactive and busy thread has been a real luxury in understanding what to expect. thanks everyone! in all your varied ways you've been so helpful.

I asked a nurse about some cream and they've given me Metanium so I'm glad it's been tried and tested and is good.

My lo is just coming into his 0-3 clothes, he's 8 weeks old. I've found sizing weird, different sizes fit differently, even from the same shop.

Think lo is doing so well now they'll let us on home leave. Just come in everyday for treatment but be able to sleep in my own bed, that is so exciting. It's been a long week, I really feel for those families that are in months on end. Fingers crossed for the ward round x

Yeah I say we just stay here for the meanwhile and then move to post-natal once this one fills up. As I say I expect all the December babies are here now but there were a lot of people who joined the antenatal thread at some point who never came back to post their babies had arrived, but I'm guessing there may still be some belated announcements from people who are a bit distracted right now by their newborn, but still may want to be part of this group once things settle down for them, so if we leave ourselves here for now it should make us easier to find if they do want to look us up.

I'm a little late with an update but I had my baby on the 4th. I was induced in the end and after 22 hours of labour and a long period of pushing I had to have a emcs as baby was back to back and had his head at an awkward angle. He was 4.2kg, which was a fair amount bigger than they were expecting.
The little guy managed to arrive just in time for when my family planned to come and visit so things have been a little hectic for the past week. They have now gone home and we can start settling in properly.

wilf my lo also fed constantly for the first few days, I was so glad when my milk finally came in and he started sleeping more.

It seems so odd that it's mid-January and although our journeys are ending they are really just beginning. Well done all!

Need a bit of advice, I know all babies grunt and snort/generally make loads of weird noises, but Romy keeps having periods where she's really grunty. At first I thought it was only when she was crying, but it woke her just now at 7am because she couldn't suck her dummy and breath through her nose properly, it's also happened when she's upright. She seems to grunt at the end of each breath & when she's crying and she does it, at the end of an inhale her eyes really widen & she gets panicky. It's not a cold (apparently if she has a cold there'd be mucus from her nose) & it's only happened a couple of times over 24 hours. If I take her to the dr (where I'd have to register her first before they can even make me an appointment) I'm sure they'll just tell me she's fine and it's normal, or it's a cold, but I've never seen any of my others go through this, it scares me

Hi bigfam I was similarly worried about my little ones breathing as it can be really erratic and snotty. Hi bigfam I'm worried about my lo's breathing today as well, he seems awfully blocked up with his nose. I called up the GP for advice and they asked me to bring him in to be checked over. Sure it's nothing but best be safe! I hope you're lo is ok x

So after the faff of registering him with the doctors we got seen and he's been prescribed with some nose drops to clear his stuffy nose. Luckily no chest infection or anything as that's what I was worrying about!

Hope it goes well bigfam! Let me know. Not really snotty, more just a dry wheeze and struggling to feed a little because it's hard for him to breathe through his nose. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't in his chest really. Hope the drops help, only just been able to collect them!

Thanks stripey her chest is all clear and she seems fine, then the big BUT came, if it happens to cause her breathing to stop call for an ambulance... Probably not the best thing to say to a panicky mum!

Oh no bigfam! Sending hugs, I'm sure she will be ok. Did they not suggest drops or anything? They seem to have helped my lo out already, he seems much more comfortable feeding now thank goodness!

Are they just saline drops stripey? She's got her 6 week check next week so if it's still persistent by then I might ask for some. What's everyone up to? I'm thinking of watching a film with a couple of 🍻

Will be properly leaving baby next week for 3 hours & it'll be the youngest any of dc have been when I've left them for so long. I'll be a wreck I expect!
