Thank you both. I've learnt a mumsnet lesson and will avoid that thread now. I can't believe how vile some people can be x

KitKat1985 · 09/01/2017 10:35

Sorry you had a bad Mumsnet experience Nurse. There are some quite nasty posters on this site sadly. I'm pleased LO is slowly getting better though.

I tried to give baby KitKat some formula for the first time last night in a bid to get some extra sleep. She wasn't keen at all, and then threw up a load of it. We had the same issue with DD1 who wouldn't drink powdered formula either after a couple of months of ebf, and would only drink the ready-made formula version (I'm guessing it must have a sort of powdery taste)? I'm hoping baby KitKat isn't going to be the same as that ended up costing us a fortune! BUT, the small amount of formula before bed that she did take in obviously worked and she slept from 11.30pm - 6am in her Moses basket, which is the best night we've ever had! It was amazing! So I'm going to persist!

However, saying that, baby KitKat has her jabs this afternoon, and they've warned me that she's likely to feel poorly for a few days afterwards as the Men B vaccine in particular tends to give a fever (DD1 just missed the cut-off for this and never had it), so that'll probably mess up any better sleep pattern that we're trying to achieve.

SolomanDaisy · 09/01/2017 11:56

nurse, there were some horrible people on that thread. I posted a few times to tell them so.

kitkat, my DD had no reaction to the jabs, so you might be lucky.

stripeyorangesocks71 · 09/01/2017 18:03

Just checking in - hope everyone is ok!

Aldi have a baby event on again starting on the 19th Jan. I expect it'll be online from the 12th and in store on the 19th like last time Smile

NurseRosie · 09/01/2017 19:49

Oops, I've had a rant on that thread.

Bigfam · 09/01/2017 20:47

Good on you nurse, I went back on there earlier and told some fuckwit not to chuck insults around after they'd posted about not reading the full thread, they've now commented that they have and are still standing by their post, which has really pissed me off! If I post again it'll be to tell them to fuck off and troll somewhere else, honestly some people 😤
How's lo doing? X

NurseRosie · 09/01/2017 21:10

I'd seen your posts, thank you for the support.
Baby is doing OK. Still waiting for tests results but looking like viral meningitis which has also effected his liver. Also detected a heart murmur but thats prob minor. Glad they are getting to the bottom of it and can be easily treated. IV treatment continues and lo is perking up now. Mum has stocked me up with fresh fruit, chocolates and microwavable home cooked meals. I managed to get to the canteen during serving hours yesterday, got 2 sandwiches, a bag of crisps for dh and a coke for £13!

Oh nurse your poor little boy! If you want the thread removed you could report it & I can help by doing it too, let them know that your baby is actually really unwell and the support you were looking for has just escalated into some nasty posts.

I hope the tests give you answers so any treatment he needs can be started asap to get you both home.

Oh Rosie what a horrible few days you are having. How us your DS today? And how are you?

NurseRosie · 10/01/2017 13:56

Baby just the same as yesterday. He is sleeping alot but seems happier when he is awake. Thank God the screaming has mostly stopped. Still waiting for results but hopefully this afty. He's built up a reputation as being difficult to do anything with, he's the baby of steal. Think the drs dread having to try to take blood or cannulate him x

SolomanDaisy · 10/01/2017 15:00

I hope he's feeling better soon nurse, it sounds horrible for you both.

SolomanDaisy · 10/01/2017 15:01

How did it go with the injections kitkat?

KitKat1985 · 10/01/2017 20:46

Hope your DS is making a speedy recovery Nurse.

The injections were okay thanks Soloman, although it wasn't very nice. She forgot about them pretty quickly though. She was wiped out for a lot of today though. She was basically asleep until mid-afternoon today apart from a couple of brief wake ups for feeds. No fever or anything though. xx

StubbleTurnips · 10/01/2017 21:02

Hope you're utilising the calpol kit.

They're used to it nurse, glad the crying has stopped for you. It's awful isn't it. Sending recovery thoughts baby's way!

We had the HV first visit today, nice lady and far more sensible in approach than my last one. Hoping the midwives discharge me tomorrow, although I still can't really walk or function without pain killers due to pelvis pain / bladder issues. T2 is fine though so no need to stay on their books, as my antenatal MW was brilliant I've got them so chocs and a thank you card. Always feel a bit embarrassed giving gifts though!

Nurse hope your baby is better, what a tough time for you. Don't pay any attention to some twattish posters in the other thread, some
People treat Mumsnet as a place
To just let out all their negative emotions on innocent strangers. I once posted about an emotional issue with an ex, and got people calling me all sorts, it was really quite upsetting! After that I learned not to post about things where people's responses may upset me.

My little one is doing well, he's putting weight on and fairly happy,
But he's a real kangaroo baby, refuses to be on his own for a second! Am relying on my sling to get through the day.

duxb · 10/01/2017 23:22

Thinking of you nurse Flowers

Bigfam · 11/01/2017 09:45

How are you both nurse? Hope your lb is doing better.
Oh kitkat we definitely remember their vaccinations long after they've forgotten them.
I was a tad emotional yesterday, had to order some vacuum bags to store clothes that don't fit already!! She's now in 0-3 month, but I've been waiting to see her in this suit Grin
It's so colourful!

The final December 2016 thread?
KitKat1985 · 11/01/2017 09:54

Stubble - yeah nurses advised to give 3 doses of calpol (obviously 4-6 hours apart!) so that's what we did. She said we could give more after if it was needed but thankfully we didn't. Also just to say to those who are taking their babies to jabs in the next few weeks - take calpol with you to the appointment. No-one told me until the day that they recommend calpol at the same time or very shortly after the men B vaccine, so poor DD had to wait over an hour until we got home!

How's your DS today nurse?

That's a cute outfit Bigfam. DD is already starting to look a bit snug in some of her 0-3 stuff, so suspect we will have to switch to 3-6 in the next couple of weeks! In fact I've started to wash it all in preparation!

Wilfrhodes how are you doing? Any signs of baby yet? (Sorry - I know you will have been asked that question about 8 billion times recently).

NurseRosie · 11/01/2017 13:04

Lo doing well today. Feeding very well. Not had the best of luck with cannula, he's needed a new one 3 times and it's taken 3 or 4 attempts everyone. He's doing great with feeding now. Our biggest stress today is that the medication has caused him to have a really sore bottom, it looks raw, poor little mite.
I'd heard about the calpol, the jabs can give a high temperature. I can't believe that our babies are old enough for jabs already.

SolomanDaisy · 11/01/2017 14:56

We were told the opposite, only to give paracetamol if it became completely necessary! Dutch are quite reluctant with their drugs.

My DD is still mostly in tiny baby clothes! She has started to wear some newborn but the feet dangle a fair bit. There's not much available in tiny baby size, I'm looking forward to her growing into bigger sizes! I love those bright colours bigfam.

Glad to hear he's doing better nurse.
