Kittenscot arrived on xmas eve after being induced on the 22nd. Lovely big boy of 9lbs. Induction was horrible and baby was distressed during labour and ended up needing forceps to deliver but it all seems worth it right now enjoying baby cuddles at home! Grin

Thanks for the reassurance all Flowers

Congrats kitty! Sorry you (both) had a rough time of it, glad you're home now.
Stubble I felt so bad for DS1 esp as I had to stay a bit longer in hospital than I'd planned. I made sure not to be holding the baby when we introduced them and didn't ask him to cuddle or hold DS2, left it entirely up to him. It's been a very gradual and totally organic process, each day DS1 has been sweeter and more engaged with DS2. He's gone from tentative patting to full on cuddles and demands to hold the baby, bringing him blankets etc. And now carries around his own monkey toy wrapped in a muslin so we both have our babies :) Bedtime is more fraught but he's been very understanding about me having to do stuff for DS2. You'll be just fine.

Londonmamabychance · 27/12/2016 22:49

Congrats Kitty and Oriana and everyone else who had their babies!

Oriana, sorry you had a difficult aftermath from the birth, hope that you and baby will be home soon!

Stubble my DD is 26 months and she's so far having mixed reactions to her little brother. Half the time she's extremely interested in him and gives him toys and talks to him and wants to push him around in his buggy, and the other half she is jealous, especially when I am breastfeeding, and wants to hit him : : / baby is clearly both a source of excitement and unsettling to her. Trying to give her all the attention I can, but also have to spend a lot of time with the baby, obvs. She is normally happy for her dad to put her to bed but since the baby came she cries for me at bedtime whichever is difficult because if baby wants to bf at that time I can't do her bedtime. But I'm hoping she will become used to him with time, it's only been 10 days.

A bit of a tmi question: my outer labia split in two (ouch) that is healing up okay after I got antibiotics for an infection, but I'm now having occasional shooting pains in my lady parts and when I cough or sneeze it hurts in the area generally, I also feel a sensation of pressure down there. Anyone have similar issues? And what to do? Just tons of kegel exercises?

Bumbleclat · 28/12/2016 10:13

I started losing my plug on Boxing Day and last night woke up at 2:30am with quite a bit of red blood on the tissue (not mucus)
I subsequently had regular waves of mild cramps low down which are now quite strong but only happening every 15-25 minutes.

Could this be the start?

Bigfam · 28/12/2016 10:27

It really sounds like it bumble good luck!!!!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 28/12/2016 10:36

Sounds like it bumble. Good luck.

How is everyone else doing?

Baby rain has totally given up on the whole bf idea she won't latch or anything anymore so I am having to feed her expressed milk in a bottle, which has made me feel a bit useless plus I'm pumping every 3hours and only getting 1.5oz in total Sad
The midwives wouldn't offer me any help and was just told to give up pumping and give her formula.

Thisisbonkers · 28/12/2016 12:19

Good luck bumble!

lovewatching do you have any breastfeeding support groups local to you? Your midwives sound awful but they should be able to point you in the right direction. Or your health visitor?

StubbleTurnips · 28/12/2016 12:30

Good luck bumble - I'm now 12 days over and still nothing!

Thank you, I'm so hoping it's not a false alarm I'm so over it now!

Spent yesterday feeling restless, deeply grumpy, bored and sad today I feel clear headed and positive and the contractions are very regular and strong so fingers crossed.

Is it normal to have quite a bit of blood on the tissue after a strong contraction?

Chookchick · 28/12/2016 12:35

Rain you must feel so deflated. I can't believe the midwifes could not offer more help. It's maddening. Plus pumping is hard work. Huge sympathy to you

I'm not doing any better, my new issue is cracked nipples and I've been too sore to latch since Xmas day and 100% expressing since.

Health visitor today encouraged me to get back to bf ASAP due to nipple confusion, so sod my poorly nipples then! I think if we can express in the meantime our babies are getting the good stuff, I refuse to be made to feel guilty, I'm trying my best.

Thisisbonkers · 28/12/2016 13:14

And lovewatching, what are you using to express? I ditched my manual pump in favour of an electric and it is SO much easier. I sympathise with the amounts though, I can't express much.

Bigfam · 28/12/2016 16:03

bumble not sure if you've gone in yet, but you should phone if your wiping and there's fresh blood, this happened with my 4th and it's the only time I've had any signs (it happened as my contractions started) when I called they told me to come in due to the bleeding.

Nojo82 · 28/12/2016 16:13

Hi all. Baby Zain Dáire was born this morning at 09.58. He weighed 9lb7. I came in last night as had reduced movement. So they decided to keep me and check me over in morning. Well things changed as they scanned me and said he was 7.4lbs and that he was losing weight. So they decided to induce straight away. Had my waters broke and put on drip at 10pm. Labour started about 4am properly but i wasn't progressing, doctor advised section but needed to talk to consultant who was called in to see me. I had a catheter put in at 7am. I was 4-5 cm then and quickly progressed to fully dilated at 9.45am. I now have a beautiful healthy boy.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 28/12/2016 16:25

Congratulations nojo.

Aww chookchick cracked nipples sounds painful.

Bonkers I had a manual pump which squeaked so I have just brought an electric medela swing pump. Which seems okay at the moment I am hoping it does the trick.

Bumbleclat · 28/12/2016 16:34

nojo congrats 🎉
I think mine's on her way my contractions are now 3 or so mins apart and getting stronger each time they last about 45secs to a minute.

Having a home birth hopefully so will call MWives soon.

KitKat1985 · 28/12/2016 17:48

Oooh Bumble definitely call the midwife now. Hopefully won't be long now then!

Congratulations Nojo. Another big baby. Well done on managing naturally!

Bigfam · 28/12/2016 18:45

Bigfam · 28/12/2016 18:46

*out Blush

Lovewatchingrainfall · 28/12/2016 18:46

Wow bumble a home birth that must be an amazing experience.

Nojo82 · 28/12/2016 19:01

Good luck bumble not long. I never thought id be writing birth announcement as it just seemed to take an age.

Stargirl84 · 28/12/2016 19:06

Good luck bumble! Exciting!

A belated birth announcement, our little girl was born safely on Friday 23rd December. I'd had a sweep on the Wednesday and went into labour on the Thursday night around 11pm - I'd been having mild cramps and back ache for a few days before then, so I guess the sweep must've helped things along a bit. Then after some almighty contractions, DD2 was born at 2am!

Hope everyone is recovering from labour ok. As a grumpy corner graduate - to all of you still in there - it does get better!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 28/12/2016 20:02

Update from me. Was induced earlier on today so now a waiting game in hospital. Came in yesterday for reduced movements and because I'm 41+3 they decided to induce me today. Getting mild tightenings but nothing more...

Lovewatchingrainfall · 28/12/2016 20:22

Oo good luck orange and hopefully things will speed up and soon have baby in your arms

StubbleTurnips · 28/12/2016 20:25

stripey I'm in too, induction started at 4pm. Still nothing doing. There's a surprise. My body is rubbish at having babies!
