well i picked up my bounty pack today, bought some maternity leggings and we've just announced spud's presence on Facebook.....shit got real 😳

Notyetthere · 31/12/2016 21:23

Wil I can't get any bounty packs. I went to the boots at London Bridge and they advised I try the bigger stores. I went to the bigger store and they also had none. Tried a big Tesco and found none so I gave up. What did you get in one? Is it worth hunting for these elusive packs?

Lally glad scan went well. If it hadn't sunk in for DH, it very quickly did at about 6 weeks after I was eating copious amount of coleslaw with everything.

Rhodes thank you for the explanation.cervical stitch - that sounds like ouch!

Sea I had to also google that company. I have never heard of them. Sounds interesting.

I would go to much more bother.... got 3 free newborn nappies, a wee tub of sudocreme, a bolognese kit (beyond random) a babies are us catalogue and the next bounty magazine.....

Bawbles · 31/12/2016 22:07

Glad your scans went well lally and daisy.

Sea it's really frustrating when you are losing blood. Mine stopped at 9.5 weeks luckily and all is well. Hope yours stops now.

Has anyone signed up for any classes? I'm starting pregnancy yoga next week and going to book hypnobirthing from around 30 weeks.

Notyetthere · 31/12/2016 22:44

Wil do you mean I shouldn't go much bother with the packs?

OP posts:
wildone81 · 01/01/2017 07:09

Yeah. Don't know what I was expecting but I'm a bit underwhelmed 😕

Seahawk80 · 01/01/2017 08:08

Hi Bawbles I've signed up for pregnancy yoga starting in 2 weeks and also am probably going to do a local NCT course. My sister met lifelong friends in hers and said she's so glad she did it. I'll also do a baby first aid course nearer the time.

mummycaitlin · 01/01/2017 08:21

I think it's luck of the drawer with the bounty packs as the contents are very random! I remember I got a lot of useful things with DS1, packs or wipes, things for weening etc. This time I got a nice one from boots in a a really cute box with some creams in. If you download the app you can get a voucher from there for a pack too, as well as with the form in your notes. I went to Superdrug for one and boots for the other. However when DH picked up the Superdrug one they have him the wrong one and it was full of weening stuff and pouches of baby food lol, I just took them to the food bank! Also if you join Emma's diary they have free packs too which you can pick up from Argos or asda, they're better then bounty if I remember correctly from last time.

LuciBee231015 · 01/01/2017 09:28

I've signed up for nct classes already. They start at the end of April I think. That's all I've done for now!

Spindelina · 01/01/2017 09:38

Is there anyone else here whose next-youngest is at school?

Wondering how my maternity social life is going to pan out without a ready-made NCT group of friends. I've got one SAHM friend who will have a 9mo, and one person I vaguely know who is due on the spring and I think her eldest goes to school this September. But it won't be the same as comparing notes week by week.

DH is a SAHD, so we might end up just hanging out together. Not sure I want to do that for six whole months though! I could do an NCT 'recap' session, but I'd be disappointed if I ended up not making friends from it.

LuciBee231015 · 01/01/2017 10:48

We have our babies this year girls! How exciting! Although, I all of a sudden feel like I need to start buying stuff right now!

Christmas decs are coming down as we speak and having a good clean of the house! Nice and fresh!

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 01/01/2017 11:09

Luci I'm trying to hold off buying anything else as we are moving house in January. Craving a nice clean fresh house but I'm currently surrounded by boxes! Really looking forward to getting settled and decorating the babies room!

DaisyQueen · 01/01/2017 12:47

Lucibee bee I took my Dec's down on the 27th because I had nowhere to keep the mountain of new toys. I keep looking for prams but so far nothing has really amazed me enough to consider buying

TinklingTheIvories · 01/01/2017 12:51

Thumbsup - we're moving this year too. It's exciting isn't it? I can't wait to start a fresh in a new house and plan everything around the baby. I just want to move now though so we can start buying things. We've also said we won't buy anything until we're in as it'd just be another thing to move.

Bawbles · 01/01/2017 13:12

Spin my dd is ten so a big age gap.

Sea I thought about NCT but don't think I can be arsed. I have a good group of friends, most have kids already and not sure I want to commit to more (anti social)

My friend is due in march and is coming to yoga, sil due April so will I have friends with babies similar age.

I've started feeling movements this week, mostly when I'm lying in bed, last night I jumped massively at a tv show we were watching and then could feel baby darting about after - I'd scared the poor little mite.

LuciBee231015 · 01/01/2017 14:24

Ohhhh I can't wait to start feeling movements! I'm 15+2 now so hopefully not long now.

I really do t know what to buy first. I suppose baby's room is top priority, along with Moses basket and pram?
Then once I have that I will look at feeding bits etc. Does that sound right? This is all new to me...

I like the look of the silver cross wayfarer pram.

LuciBee231015 · 01/01/2017 17:39

Been doing some research on prams this afternoon. I think ive changed my mind from the silver cross! I have come across the Ickle Bubba Stomp V3. You literally get EVERYTHING you need and it's a very reasonable £450! Reviews all look amazing. Think I'm going to order it!

Notyetthere · 01/01/2017 19:05

Luci I will check out the Ickle bubba pram. I have started to read up on them and watching you tube videos.

I have considered the NCT classes but not sure yet. We have a few big expenses coming up and also a remortgage which might involve fees so we are trying to keep the big bills down. The other thing of concern is what if I don't click with any of the mums in the class? Will I feel like the money is wasted if I am only going for the potential of making friends? I don't really have any mum friends and sil is going back to work so even she won't be round for company. She didn't go to nct classes and she made an observation at the local meet up groups; she could tell who were the nct mums what with their ready made friendships. She felt slightly left out sometimes. I don't know...

Right I have checked out the Ickle bubba and that is a good value system with absolutely everything. At the moment my favourite is the uppababy vista but the price difference really is huge. We have not actually seen any of these in the shops so I am only going by what we have read. Hopefully we can visit the shops next weekend for a test drive.

I feel very premature & hope we haven't jinxed anything but my DH and I put a deposit on a pram yesterday. We had a mutsy igo from a little independent baby shop in our town centre. I really like the ickle bubba and silvercross wayfarer tho, I also liked the egg but they were bit out of my price range!

LuciBee231015 · 01/01/2017 20:20

I've ordered the Ickle Bubba Stomp V3! So excited!

Not - you could get the Ickle bubba and nct classes for the price of the uppababy!

I've booked in for the nct as thought it would be good to have mums going through the same thing as me, and would be good to meet up once the baby is born for a bit of socialising. Kind of makes sure I get out of the house once baby is here. Everyone I have spoken to can't recommend them highly enough.

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 01/01/2017 20:30

Luci is that sale price or rrp? It sounds amazing! We will be changing our car so need to make a decision on that before we can go for the big purchases, so I'm avoiding looking now as I don't want to get sucked in to a real good deal.

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 01/01/2017 20:31

Oh and I booked for NCT classes as I'll be new to the area so meeting people will be good and also feel like I haven't got a clue about anything currently! Can't find any info on NHS classes in the new area yet either.

LuciBee231015 · 01/01/2017 20:34

Thumbs, no that's the normal price!! It's such good value, and all of the reviews I have read are really good too. I have attached a pic from mothercare website.
