Hey crisps. I was in a similar position to your colleague a few months ago. I had a mmc and found out one of my friends was due the same week i would have been. Embarrassingly i drank myself into oblivion that night Blush.

I think the only thing you can do is tell her quietly on her own. Maybe a bit before you tell others just so she can get her head round it before seeing others congratulate you. I'm sure she'll be really pleased for you, but it will be difficult for her. I've avoided my friend since (she's been great about it, thankfully). I think just be aware that she might avoid you, but it's not because she wishes you ill or anything like that but just it's difficult for her. I hope that helps you figure out how to handle it!

Try not to worry about your scan (easier said than done!). Smile

I have been asking Dr Google (disastrous I know!) but there seems to be a common thread of light spotting after having a "difficult" bowel movement...something to do with pressure on the cervix. It has completely stopped now, so a lot less worried, but still want to hear back from the doctors (why are they so slow at coming back?! Angry)

HighHopes16 · 29/11/2016 14:56

Hope everyone is well. I got a right bargain today and felt like I had to share - a 16 week private gender scan with 2 prints on Groupon for £23.50 instead of £50.00. I also found a 25% off code so actually paid £17.62! Will look forward to booking that in January :)

NappingRabbit · 29/11/2016 15:47

Wow HighHopes that's a great deal! Where is it located? I've just booked one near me for Christmas Eve (planning to surprise DH that morning) for £45 but haven't paid anything yet.

HighHopes16 · 29/11/2016 16:07

It's in Barnsley so about a 40 minute drive for us but worth it for that price!

RoseBud2016 · 29/11/2016 16:40

Crisp I agree with Masweet advice about your colleague. But having been there myself with an MMC, the one thing I would add is rather than telling her face to face, email or text her. Then it gives her a chance to respond when she feels ready emotionally.
It's great that you are being so sensitive to her feelings.

Oliver I hope you are ok? That sounds like a bit of a shock to see!

Congrats Mommy !

Nutellaplease · 29/11/2016 16:47

Hi everyone! Hope it's ok to join in :)
I'm due 3rd June so 13+3 today! Had my scan last week and all looks good, baby was very wiggly and we saw little fingers moving around which was unexpected and so lovely.
I have a 2.5 year old DD and am struggling with tiredness, I'm ok in the morning but by afternoon I'm just pooped! Anyone else with toddlers got any tips? Hoping I'll get some energy back in the second trimester

oliversmummy26 · 29/11/2016 16:49

Seen the doctor, aren't GPs useless with pregnancy?! He had a feel of my tummy and checked my pulse and blood pressure, everything normal and no pain.

But has managed to book me an early scan on Thursday, which is great news. My NT scan is at 12 weeks, and I didn't really want to wait another 2 weeks worrying that there would be something wrong. So all being well (and I feel like all is well) we'll just get a sneak preview of our bean! Smile

I did have the same thing again when I pushed a poo (so sorry for the TMI) out this afternoon too, so I think it's definitely related to my bowel issues. He's also given me something to sort that out with, so all good.

It does mean I've had to tell my boss though as scan is in the middle of the day on Thursday...he's a bit worried that he knows before my mum though! Grin

I'm at my seeing course tonight and will have to try on the corset I am making so my tutor can see if it needs any adjustments. I don't think it is going to fit. She took my measurements for it a month ago but I have a definite bump now. She's going to notice isn't she?

DizzyNorthernBird · 29/11/2016 17:22

Hey all, been awol for a few days as had a busy weekend away. Hope everyone is well and sickness is subsiding for those of you who've been struggling with it.

moose I hope the next week goes quickly for you, I'm sure it will.

It's my scan tomorrow. I'm starting to feel nervous now, and also worried after mooses results as I'm also 37 so should I just expect a high risk rate too? I'm not sure what we would do, private tests are so expensive so I don't know whether we'll just pay to have peace of mind and awareness or just take our chances.

Mooseville · 29/11/2016 17:42

They do offer other tests dizzy on the NHS, they talk you through it all "if" it happens. My Mum was with me when I heard and offered to pay for our harmony, so it seemed the best option to us at the time. Please don't worry unnecessarily until you get your results! Although easier said than done! It was my bloods and nuchal which increased my risk, yours may come back fine!!

Masweetpea1 · 29/11/2016 17:45

rosebud, totally agree! I found out by text. Wasnt sure if she's a colleague, if they are close enough to have mob numbers!!

VeganMama83 · 29/11/2016 17:55

Posted on Facebook too. Sorry to anyone seeing this twice!

A very awkward baba today at scan. It was upside down when I got there, then after lots of jiggling went on its side. After emptying my bladder, it finally was in the right position for measurements. Happy that nuchal measurement was 1.33, just got to wait for combined results. Been put forward 2 days so EDD 10th June. Had a really nice sonographer and asked about nub theory. She said it's the most accurate of the theories and she zoomed into the nub and thought it possibly looked like a girl. Time will tell, I think boy!

Oh Vegan and Mommy-such beautiful scan photos!!!

This thread is moving so fast and I'm being rubbish to keep up! Has a Facebook group been set up? Can I be added please? Who do I PM?

You'll definitely be 'higher risk' statistically - wise but in reality, very rare for there to be any genetic issues at our age Dizzy but it's so hard not to worry isn't it?!

oliversmummy-I've always found GPs to be a little clueless beyond the biology of early pregnancy unless they have been there, I agree!!

Hi Nutella!!!

VeganMama83 · 29/11/2016 18:10

Thank you for the advice ladies. I had thought I would try to catch her alone and talk to her before news leaked out. We are teachers and she and I come into contact with each other a fair amount but I am prepared for her to find it too hard to be around me much. I just don't want her to be blindsided on the way to a class one day. Her partner works with her. There is a possibility I would chat to him first? Or go straight to her? I have time to consider it. One thing's for sure I will be amazed if I make it through any conversation without blubbing.

I am also on the older end being just weeks away from my 38th birthday. It is good to have an idea how these things might work out.

Myusername2015 · 29/11/2016 18:13

Hi all; scan today put me at exactly 12 weeks was so amazing to see the little one jumping about! Due date 14th June. Can I join the Facebook group too please

Lovely pics there vegan and user! Hopefully if all goes well tomorrow I'll be sharing mine and will also join the FB group. Although I'm on Mn more than FB as a rule, I'm rubbish at checking my FB feed!

Anyone else got their scans tomorrow?

Thanks for the reassurance kitty and moose, I'm trying not to worry as if it were down to me and the baby had downs I would keep it, but I'm not sure whether DP feels the same. I've no idea about how I feel about the other things they test for, not really thought about it.

crisps I'd probably want to talk to her first, you could catch her partner later or let her share your news? I think if I were in her shoes I might feel a bit upset if I heard about it via my partner but I suppose it depends what kind of relationship you have with them both. Very tricky though and there's no right or wrong way.

Myusername2015 · 29/11/2016 19:19

Thinking of you tomorrow dizzynorthernbird and anyone else with a scan 💐

NappingRabbit · 29/11/2016 19:22

Bit far from me in London HighHopes!

Loving all the scan pics. Good luck tomorrow dizzy!

haveacupoftea · 29/11/2016 19:34

Aw I am so tired. Was up 3 times during the night for a pee. Then woke at 5am starving with hunger. Had to go downstairs and have some cereal! Crazy! Its so hard to cope with the constant hunger Blush
