Why is it that they won't tell you? It seems daft when they can easily see and if the parents would like to know?

MissisBee · 13/12/2016 14:49

reindeer what a surprise for you, congratulations!!
Sunday glad you're getting sorted.
My hospital used to refuse to tell you gender, there were signs up saying don't ask - I'm guessing they once got a complaint for getting it wrong. Now they will tell you as evry other hospital here does. I keep changing my mind if I want to know. I guess I'll say don't deliberately look but if we happen to see that's OK.

phoebe2016 · 13/12/2016 14:49

Hi Ikea! Congratulations on your scan today, its so nice to see baby jumping around, mad as well that we can't yet feel it. You have the same EDD as me! 21st June :) x

phoebe2016 · 13/12/2016 14:51

Thanks Six. I think we are going to go for the private sexing scan and when we go to 20wk scan tell the Sonographer that we already know sex. Would be nice if they can confirm it as well. The baby being healthy is my main concern but if we can find out, then great! :)

Monkeyandthebear · 13/12/2016 14:54

I thought that the gender thing was actually to do with some groups where boys are seen as preferential over girls so hospitals don't tell just in case.

I don't think we are going to find out. The only problem is I knit and want to knit a few bits for baby but will have to keep them gender neutral to begin with.

RoseBud2016 · 13/12/2016 14:56

Some NHS trust won't disclose the gender due to cultural reasons in the area. It's an issue of safeguarding the unborn baby.

Pugsymalone · 13/12/2016 15:12

Just zoomed into my scan and this is above baby! What on earth , it looks like a pug( apt for my username) or et!!!! I have no idea what it is Hmm

Scan done and all well and good. So relieved! Any gender guesses? I really don't understand how the nub theory works.

Walkerbean16 · 13/12/2016 17:52

I had my 16 week appointment today, as the midwife put the Doppler on to listen to the heartbeat I felt movements for the first time!! I popped into mothercare again to look at the pram I want! How long do I wait to buy it Grin

DizzyNorthernBird · 13/12/2016 18:01

pugsy what part of the scan is that? Could it just be a hand or a foot?

Sundaygal · 13/12/2016 18:46

Congrats Catlady glad it was good news and the wait is over!

Thanks all, I'm doing alright just sitting at the hospital getting lots of tests run. Just wanted to say don't be alarmed by a niggle pain. I was super sick, dehydrated, and wasn't moving around much. When I did stand up and walk it hurt and got to the point I was limping along. So it wasn't a subtle pain you'd miss. Don't want to scare anyone!

That's great Dizzy about your exercise class instructor.

MoonlightMojitos · 13/12/2016 18:59

sunday glad you're being looked after! What a scare.

Congrats to everyone with scans today/recently!

I ordered a doppler last week that was meant to come today and hasn't so feeling a bit annoyed (yes I know, they're controversial) but was looking forward to seeing if I could hear anything. Hopefully it'll come tomorrow. walker that's so nice that the midwife listened! I've heard it depends on the midwife if they try or not.

I am so tired again these last few days, don't know what's going on! I thought I was over the exhaustion in the last few weeks but the last 3 or 4 nights I've crashed by 8pm and had a good 10 hours sleep!!! Still up to pee every few hours but can usually doze straight back off.

I've found a pilates class not too far away starting again in January on a Tuesday evening so looking forward to giving that a go and feeling like I'm not sat on my bum all the time.

15+6. I can't believe how fast it's going now!

Hello lovely ladies. My June Bus journey has come to an end Sad. My dating scan last week showed twins that had stopped growing and I had the OP yesterday.

I know I should just leave but before I do, I just wanted to say what a cracking bunch of women you all are and how supportive you have been since the beginning and thank you for the 'ride'. I wish you all happy and healthy pregnancies.

I will now come off the Facebook group too.

Love you all xx

NappingRabbit · 13/12/2016 20:21

Kitty I've been thinking of you but hadn't wanted to ask how you were in case you preferred to be left alone for the moment. Lots of love to you.

Sunday really good that they caught it and you're getting the treatment you need. You've reminded me to dig out my sexy compression socks for my long haul flights in a couple of weeks.

I've been feeling little wriggles for the last week or so - usually when I sit down after being quite active. Such a lovely lovely thing.

14+3

RoseBud2016 · 13/12/2016 20:28

So sorry Kitty. That's absolutely devastating. I hope you have lots of support around you. Take care x

VeganMama83 · 13/12/2016 20:29

reindeerbitesback · 13/12/2016 23:14

Thinking of you, Kitty, and sending lots of love - very sorry to hear that Flowers

Lovely and reassuring to hear how the rest of you are, though.

Dizzy I am very interesting in adapting exercises for pregnancy - how lucky that your instructor is a specialist!

Hope you're feeling better soon Sunday, glad you're being looked after well.

I had no idea that they sometimes won't tell you the gender due to safeguarding/cultural preferences. Very interesting.

I'm wishing I had joined a group like this with my first pregnancy now; I'm really enjoying hearing how all of you are feeling and progressing. Plus, the support is fab - thank you ladies!

Walkerbean16 · 14/12/2016 01:23
