Hello all! I'm relatively new to Mumsnet - can I join the fun? 15 weeks today and very excited for my 20 week scan in January!

haveacupoftea · 13/12/2016 08:22

Oh sunday thats horrible, thank god you got checked out!

DizzyNorthernBird · 13/12/2016 08:26

Aw sunday what a mixed bag of day day for you! Great news about your scan and at least they found your dvt early and your being treated. Hope you feel better soon.

hazy hope you start feeling better soon too.

Good luck for those with scans today!

giddya welcome!

catlady15 · 13/12/2016 08:54

Scan is at 2pm. Will be glad when the wait is over!

That doesn't sound like much fun Sunday, you look after yourself too! X

Masweetpea1 · 13/12/2016 09:03

Gosh Sunday , i bet you're bored! It shows it's always worth mentioning aches and pains in pregnancy, no matter how silly it seems. Hope you'll be out soon x

VeganMama83 · 13/12/2016 09:15

Glad you got it checked out sunday and welcome giddy!

Felt odd bits of movement now and again, can't wait for it to be more regular

Welcome to the new posters, congrats on the scans and triplets!!! Wow I was shocked finding out it was twins!!
Good job you mentioned that pain sunday I am on aspirin now to reduce my chances of clots and I also have to endure the jabs every day from 26weeks x apparently it stings but it's over with quickly xx
I'm feeling little movements now, the kids can't wait until they can feel something,to them I'm just getting fatter 😂
I really want to start buying bits but im desperate to find out the sexes first, was looking at gender scans but Xmas is too close and I get my 20 week scan on 12 th Jan.

16.1

adlertippa · 13/12/2016 09:27

Poor you Sunday, any idea when you might get home? I didn't realise DVTs were a risk in pregnancy, off to have a read about it now :)

Hazy my scan is on Thurs too, time is crawling! Good luck to everyone getting scanned today.

I tapped out of my night shift at 11pm on Saturday and spent Sunday throwing up, it was dreadful. Was so worried it was the start of something (had had bad nausea but not actual sicks until then) but felt a lot better yesterday and today. Have had pregnancy rhinitis since early on though, anyone else? Constantly snotting and blowing my nose, ugh. Feel like I turned into a snotty tired lump pretty much overnight after conceiving, my poor DP. I've been telling him I'm going to hit second trimester and transform into a smug radiant creature at any moment... maybe.

Bodypumpaddict · 13/12/2016 10:22

Morning!
Lots of news since I last checked. Good luck to everyone with scans today....

Triplets! How wonderful Reindeer. And lots of other healthy baby news! Fabulous.

I told work about baby yesterday (am 13+4).... they were a little shocked as DD1 is 14 months and I have just come back off maternity leave! Feel quite bad about the timing TBH but we are thrilled and I keep thinking that other women do it so why shouldn't I?! After being so career focussed for years, it's so lovely to focus on my own family - am 37 and spent years single thinking it would never happen!

Clothes wise- am in maternity jeans and have put on a good stone... so much more comfy. Must. Stop. Eating.

Bodypumpaddict · 13/12/2016 10:32

Meant to add.... I'd like to join the FB group. Who do I PM?
Thank you Smile

HazyHazyJeans · 13/12/2016 10:36

Pm either me or Vegan, for the FB group Smile

phoebe2016 · 13/12/2016 10:54

Hope you are fixed and out of hospital soon Sunday. That must have been one heck of a shock! Just shows that it's always best to mention these things.

Good luck to anyone having scans today :)

Does anyone know if you can choose to find out the sex of baby at your 20wk NHS scan (if you pay) or is the only way to have a private scan?

Hermano · 13/12/2016 11:22

Has anyone else started feeling movements yet?
I was going to post this yesterday with a grumble that I haven't yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm feeling movements this morning, yay!

It's my 2nd child which means you feel them earlier apparently, so all FTMs please don't worry if you haven't felt anything yet - I didn't first time until about 18 weeks I think.

Today I'm 15+3

Hermano · 13/12/2016 11:24

Ps I think I sent you a PM Hazy, will I get a fb notification or do i need to do something on fb to join the group?

HazyHazyJeans · 13/12/2016 11:28

phoebe it just depends on your hospital policy. My hospital won't tell you so we'll have a private scan to find out the sex. I can't pay the NHS to do it. Lots of NHS hospitals do tell you though.

HazyHazyJeans · 13/12/2016 11:33

hermano I've replied to your PM Smile

HazyHazyJeans · 13/12/2016 11:41

Have replied to you as well bodypumpaddict Smile

DizzyNorthernBird · 13/12/2016 12:01

Ive been feeling movements hermano despite this being my first. I started noticing a weird sensation around my uterus area, particularly after doing something active. Others might say I'm imagining it and it's just wind but after years of dealing with gut related issues I'm very aware of where and what my normal bowel sensations feel like!

Last night I swear I felt a tiny kick in bed, I'd just been up for the loo and was feeling the usual stretchy cramping feeling when I got back into bed, and when I was just drifting off to sleep again I felt a tiny 'pop' sensation! Maybe I was dreaming but I prefer the explanation that it was baby kicking Smile

Plus my sonographer told me my placenta is growing on the back wall of my womb and this apparently means I'll feel lots of movement, especially later on.

I've just been to my first body pump class in 9 weeks, it turns out the instructor is a pre and post natal exercise specialist and she's going to send me some links of adaptations in classes is anyone is interested!

phoebe2016 · 13/12/2016 12:09

Thanks Hazy. We are looking at booking a private secong scan for 2nd week in Jan, when i will be 17wks, but was just curious if the NHS would tell you.

I can't wait to feel movements, it makes you feel so much more reassured! Its been over 10yrs since my last pregnancy and I can't exactly remember at what gestation i started to feel them. I think it was pretty early on with my second, flutters at 14+ wks. Exciting stuff lol :)

IkeaTatPrincess · 13/12/2016 12:38

Scan all good, we have a disco baby! It kept waving and striking poses so it's new nickname is 'superhands'.

I was very much expecting bad news to the point where I'd started planning a ski holiday in the new year... my way of coping I suppose.

Nuchal measurement is 1.3mm, so that with my age means probably low risk unless the blood results say very different. Going to start telling everyone as and when we see them.

I told the midwife who was taking bloods to go for my right arm as it always cooperates but she thought she knew better... three unsuccessful stabs in the left arm later she gave up and I got my first 'mother knows best'!

EDD 21st June.

Good luck for scans this afternoon - will PM for the Facebook group so see you over there those with FB.

MundayCakes85 · 13/12/2016 13:06

Great to hear all the good news and see scan photos.
Glad you're being looked after Sunday, glad it was caught so early.
I've got an anterior placenta, so I probably won't get to feel as much movement this time around. Although I'm thinking I can feel the odd thing probably all in my head
15+4

catlady15 · 13/12/2016 13:18

That's great news ikea! I am counting down to my scan at 2pm! Really need a wee and so much more nervous than I thought I would be. Fingers crossed I will be sharing good news soon.

Blueskyrain · 13/12/2016 13:21

Interestingly, my sonographer and the consultant both thought I was really sensible in not going for the nuchal testing, as they think it causes a lot of extra worry.

I'm not sure if that's the usual view of the medical practitioners, but I was quite surprised.

Sixisthemagicnumber · 13/12/2016 13:34

phoebe in my region and the region I used to live in the sonographer will tell you the sex at the 20 weeks scan of you ask and they baby is in a position where they can tell. There is no charge. But in some areas they won't tell you and there is no option to pay to be told so the only way in those areas is to book a private scan.
