i thought it was funny, hope it doesn't offend anyone

Wow 2 @ 7lb...did she give birth naturally... maybe i don't want to think too much about that.

bubblez · 15/02/2007 17:23

OMG 7lb each!! did she have a natural delivery?
At least you know that they will be healthy weights... and isn't it that if they are above 5lb and feeding well they dont have to stay in hospital??

bubblez · 15/02/2007 17:24

lol great minds think alike ng

1becomes3 · 15/02/2007 17:26

I don't know if she did it naturally will have to ask, I can't see that being much fun though.

1becomes3 · 15/02/2007 17:46

Personally I hope my babies are small so they have to spend some time in hospital (only a little bit), it will give me more of a chance to heal, I was terrible after my first section.
Can't imagine how I will cope with DD plus the DT's and major surgery.

weeonion · 15/02/2007 17:49

evenin folks- a quick catch up! dont forget there is a programme on C4 at 9pm on babies in the womb!

runnyhabbit · 15/02/2007 18:19

Good God, you lot can talk

Was going to be good and take notes, but have forgotten

So big hugs to all those feeling crap ((hugs))

Any update on CD? Give her my love when someone speaks/texts her.

Lol at the thread title. But cos me and dh know its so true!

Interesting threads about slings. Def going to invest in one this time round, but can't be too girly cos dh wants to use it.

Much respect to the 7lb twins. Am in total awe.

Ds is being a proper little boy - by that I mean he's totally pushing the boundaries. Have got a little plastic 'naughty' chair for that we started using today for when he does something he's not allowed too (like try and climb onto the window sill and pull at the blinds) so I put him on the chair in the hall, just for a minute. Next thing I know, I heard the chair being dragged across the hall floor - he's only standing on it at the bottom of the stairs, and using it as a step to climb over the safety gate (I have to admit that part of me was quite proud that he thought to do it all by himself)

Been very good this afternoon - prepared dinner (just have to stick it in the oven) put three loads of washing on, made dh lunch for tomorrow, and sorted ds bag for nursery tomorrow. Can I have a gold star please

weeonion · 15/02/2007 18:32

runny - gold stars to you

maveta · 15/02/2007 18:33

Hello hello, dashing in again before going off to antenatal class. Tonight it is about the couple´s relationship after the birth of the baby. Should be interesting

Went and got waxed today, phew, I feel better. I always go to the same girl and she´s very sweet but kept going on about how I was so much WIDER than before (she was talking about my stomach btw, I know exactly where some of y our minds just went). Not so much OUT the way but WIDER. You know, all round the sides, WIDER. YES I GET IT YOU THINK I´M WIDER!!! grrr. Just being oversensitive I know but why oh why do people think we revel in being fat and blobby? Is this where we apparently stop being women and become just mummies? So thrilled to be losing our figure, however momentarily (and god please PLEASE let it be momentarily!!) for the greater cause of repopulating this great earth? I shouldn´t moan, I shouldn´t I shouldn´t, I´ve probably been guilty of the same thing a million times over in the past.

Ahem. slight rant. Glad you liked the photos, it was a gorgeous day here today.

What else? Muslins I think are for nappies/ burping/ covering yourself when feeding in public if you are so inclined/ all round cloths for mopping up whatever has come out of y our child lately.

Oh I can´t remember anything else...I´m sorry! Except great going on the dutalier chair on ebay!! I picked one up cheap but still haven´t got around to adding cushions (which were missing) so that´s another thing on the list..

Sorry I forgot just about everyone, have a lovely night all xx

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 15/02/2007 18:37

1b3 just finished a maternity leave posting and the girl i covered for had her baby at 33 weeks, he weighed just over 5lbs

OP posts:
Bugmum · 15/02/2007 19:37

Quick appearance

Katy - I think it was you worried about the growth because you are a 'week out'? Just to say, I had all that in my last pregnancy (I was really neat, everyone said so, and now people are at how massive I am!), went for an extra scan and monitoring and so on, but DS was fine. Absolutely fine. Skinny and not exactly huge (6 pound 13oz), but no worries. This time, different MW, and she doesn't believe in tape measures!!! Well, I imagine she believes they exist, but you know what I mean. She feels the bump, feels the baby through the bump, and sends me home again. Hardly ever seems to want to see me, either. Maybe her approach will turn out to be misguided (I can't bear to think about that), but it does show that not every healthcare professional thinks size is everything

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 15/02/2007 20:12

Hi lovelies, so many posts, and I had planned to take notes but haven't.

8.5 weeks, glad your last day went well and you had some nice gifts.

Nutty, hope your boobs feel better soon!

My God, cannot remember anything else- hopeless.

Thanks to all those with tips for indigestion.

I have had it all day and feel crap.

I have eaten yogurt ad ice-cream, and drunk milkshake and hot water with lemon in it. Sadly, still painful. so it's going to be the minty sperm that is Gaviscon - eurgggghh!

Anyway, hope everyone is ok and those that feel crap feel better soon, and those that are knackered get a good nights kip!

Looking forward to that babies in the womb programme.

See you later. xx

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 15/02/2007 20:17

SOSPL - pmsl at 'minty sperm' that was exactly what i said when i took it! was so bad i couldn't take it anymore, had to get the original one!

OP posts:
Eddas · 15/02/2007 20:18

Thought i'd add my bit on size. I keep getting the 'ooo you've got bigger' and 'you weren't that big with Georgia' comments. Yes I know, i'm carrying it round 24-7 don't you think i've realised. Don't mind but when it's some heffer commenting I really want to say something. But have restrained myself so far, still just over 6 weeks til due date so there's still time !! I alredy feel like ten tonne tess without constant reminders.

Had mw yesterday and measured the bump as 36cm when i'm 33 weeks. Doesn't seem worried said that it could be because it's my second. Said the baby wasn't big. Bloody hope it's not bigger than Georgia, not that she was big but at 7lb14 she was big enough. Was 2 weeks late though so fingers crossed this one's early.

I'm off to an indoor play area tomorrow with friends and last time we all went my friend was 8mths pg and couldn't really fit on the seat(fixed picnic style things) so am realy hoping I fit

runnyhabbit · 15/02/2007 20:36

I'm going to add to size comments too.

Got petrol the other day, and the woman behind the counter thought my bump was that big, that she just HAD to go and get her friend from the other till to look at me.

conversation went something like this..
woman - not long to go now?
me - 8 weeks
woman - really, oh my god! Is it twins?
me - no, I've been told its just the way I'm carrying.
woman - are you sure? I would get a second opinion if I were you.
me - I'm sure its not twins (and getting quite irate)
woman - well in that case I'd be having a caesarean. There is no way I'd be pushing that out
me - no, I'm not having a caesarean (just want to pay for my petrol)
women - well, good luck, because you're going to need it!

I wouldn't have minded, but neither of them were of a small build (iyswim) my mum said that I should've said the reason I'm big is because I'm pregnant - whats your excuse?! (my mum does not usually say things like that so very )

Bramshott · 15/02/2007 20:38

Just read it all, and now can't remember anything!! Sorry you still have the heartburn SOSPL.

1b3 - I was told this baby was 3.5lbs at my last scan at 30 weeks. DD was born at 33.5 weeks and she weighed 4lbs 11oz which is pretty big for that gestation I think. So I'm guessing this one is maybe weighing about 4lbs now? 3.5lbs sounds really, really good for your twins at this stage. When DD was in hospital, they wouldn't let you take them home until they were over 4lbs (clearly we had no problems there with our heffalump!).

Trying not to be a drama queen but one of my legs feels not quite right - when I move about the calf is painful as if there's not enough blood getting to it. I had a DVT last time so I'm a bit paranoid. Have to go to London in the morning but think I might try and make a doctors appointment for later on. Just thinking that if she says "oh you'd better go to hospital just to be on the safe side", I could spend all Friday night sat around up there and have to make arrangements for DD. It's just so hard to know what it's worth making a fuss about when your body is doing abnormal stuff all the time.

Eddas · 15/02/2007 20:40

Runny, had a similar thing in a pub,was asked how long to go I said ten weeks and they said bloody hell thought it was due really soon!! And that was before I got as big as I am.

Mind you it was a man!

After my friend had her first she was in Tesco when baby was a few months old(maybe 6?) and was asked when the next one was due. Obviously she wasn't pg. I reckon that would be worse

runnyhabbit · 15/02/2007 20:42

Bramshott - have you got support stockings/socks that you could wear, and see if that help to relieve things a bit? Know what you mean about making a fuss though. But on the other hand, its worth getting it checked out x

Eddas · 15/02/2007 20:43

Bramshott, sounds like its worth getting checked out. Can't you try ringing the oh so helpful NHS direct tonight? Might be able to put your mind at rest. Or of course your local hospital mw unit if they're open? At least you'd maybe know sooner

runnyhabbit · 15/02/2007 20:43

eddas - yes, def agree, that would be worse

Bramshott · 15/02/2007 20:47

Thanks guys. Sure I'll be fine till tomorrow afternoon as to be honest, it's been a bit dodgy for a few days, but I only really notice when I walk around a lot and I went into town today. I'm sure all that NHS direct would say is "if you're worried, go to A & E" - hmm yes, like I want to go up there at this time of night

Runny - I've been wearing some oh-so-attractive elastic stockings since I was 12 weeks. I'm also on a daily blood-thinning injection so I'm hoping that anything sinister is fairly unlikely.

Eddas · 15/02/2007 20:55

Sure NHS direct would say that, hence the oh so helpful bit. One of those good in theory ideas big wigs seem to come up with.

Hope it eases up soon

Birdiebump · 15/02/2007 23:01

A day of retail therapy! Bought lots of little baby things and a pair of shoes for me - 1st time in years. Also a few bits for all my boys.

Soooooo exhausted! Loads of friends coming round tomorrow and house a complete tip .

So won't be on much but I love the new thread title. FYI last had it 3 days ago but that was the first time this year (I think!).....

Maveta - love your photos.

GMM love that fetal development thread.

Those of you who are suffering with colds coughs and nightmare bump and leg pains (((((hugs))))).

Runny - LOL at shop conversation and couldn't agree more with your mum!

Night night.

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 08:15

Morning everyone,

Bugmum, thanks for the reassurance. MW told me it's nothing to worry about but to be honest, I don't have much confidence in what she says! I still don't get the whole measuring thing in general though - seems very unscientific to me!!

You've all mentioned working out the weight from a scan - I didn't realise that was possible!! Is that just an estimate based on the exact size? I'm having a scan in 4 weeks so might ask then.

runnyhabit - your petrol station experience is terrible - how cheeky!! They could have really worried you and should keep their opinions to themselves!

Bramshott, have you decided to wait until later today? What time's your appointment? Has the pain got any worse?

Birdiebump, glad you enjoyed your shopping!

EllieK - "pmsl at 'minty sperm' that was exactly what i said when i took it! was so bad i couldn't take it anymore, had to get the original one! " You mean the original
gaviscon...or....

Well another productive day for me of avoiding my assignment! Can I make a request? I'm getting really confused with some of the name changes - can we maybe add something to the stats thread to record all your name changes, apart from the Christmassy ones? What do you all think?

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 08:23

liath - I've just been reading the PFB thread, and have been PMSL at your comment, not sure if it was intentional or not about when breast feeding went "tits up"
