Morning bumpees!

Had really great meal out last night - chinese eat as much as you can - stuffed before main course .

I am officially on maternity leave.

Boys are off today for half term - have already shouted ar ds2 - but they seem to have calmed down now. Am determined that they behave well this holiday and don't give in!

Off to have photo shoot today, friends for lunch then soft play - should keep them busy!!

I have my scan on the 1st - so should get a good idea of size - I'm hoping less than 11 pounds!!

Off to have a look at that website - will catch up later xoxoxoxox

IsabellyMoi · 16/02/2007 09:07

Runny - loved your petrol shop story!

Bramshot - hope your leg feels better soon. So hard to know what is just weird pregnancy stuff and what we should be concerned about.

I think it was Liath who got the Dutailier glider on ebay? Well done. I'm looking around - saw some good ones on ebay about 2 weeks ago and now seem to have missed the boat!

Weeonion - thanks SO much for the notice about the C4 program - Miracles in the Womb, I think it was called. Saw most of it last night (I fell asleep for about 20 minutes of it!) and really enjoyed it. It was mainly about multiples - I wonder if 1becomes3 caught any of it?

Have a great day everyone. Oh - I've joined the low-iron club and my MW has put me on pills for it...no nasty side effects yet but I've only been on them for 2 days.

Morning 8andahalfweeks
Although I'm of your maternity leave, I only have 4 weeks left at work, then another week off, then back for 1 week (which will fly past!!) then officially on ML! When I think of it like that (i.e. only really 4 weeks left) it makes me realise how close I am!

WestCountryLass · 16/02/2007 09:47

Midwives appt yesterday at 33.6 weeks.

Baby is not transverse as I suspected but breech. I really hope it turns soon as I am not looking forward to a late turn, DD did a late turn and I was as sick as a pig. Also am planning a homebirth which I would not attempt with a breechling. Positive vibes please!!!!!

Everything else is fine (babys heartbeat, BP, iron count etc), so a positive appointment all in all

WestCountryLass · 16/02/2007 09:52

Oh, and a really funny convo in Body Shop...

The woman working in there was pregnant and she asked me how far along I was and if I was on maternity leave and I explained that no I wasn't because am SAHM.

She then said, oh how lovely you don't have to do anything all day and I said no, except look after two kids all day.

She then said how it was so hard working 37.5 hours a week (and I am sure her job is hard as on her feet all day) but was stiffling PMSL as I worked 50+ hours a week in my last job before having DS and even I think being a SAHM is more draining than being in work.

This is not a SAHM/WOHM debate because I have a lot of respect for Mums that WOHM as I would not like to face their challenges but she was a first timer so did not actually have kids at home and I was somewhat amused by her naivity about the demands of parenting/childrearing

Bless!

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 09:56

WCL - positive vibes!! Isn't it kneeling on all fours with your bum in the air that's meant to help? (finding out about this as I might need it myself in a few weeks)

geordiemacminx · 16/02/2007 10:07

I think someone told you that just so they could laugh at you Katy...

Only kidding... I heard its supposed to help.. either on a borthing ball or the same position that you would adopt to clean skirting boards...

Not that I am endorsing nor recommending cleaning skirting boards... THAT WOULD BE MADNESS!!!!

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 10:20

I've got to dig out that sports ball I bought ages ago (never been used of course!!)
I don't mind being laughed at - sure DH will be PHSL!

geordiemacminx · 16/02/2007 10:42

Oh the PMSL came watching dp trying to blow the ball up........ I "forgot" to tell him about the wee pump that was in the box....

Oh and watching the cat run like mad as he thought he was going to be bowled over by it!!

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 10:52

I did that!! Thought I'd done enough exercise just blowing it up, was very to find the pump!

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 10:52

Cat skittles!

geordiemacminx · 16/02/2007 10:54

I suppose it must be quite frightening when you are only 8 inches tall to have this huge pink ball rolling towards you....

Although dp doesnt help matters by trying to get him to balance on it like some sort of cat circus act!!! Is it any wonder the poor cat is traumatised!!!

maveta · 16/02/2007 11:33

Morning everyone!

Loving the conversation with people about our bumps - cheeky buggers the lot of them.

GMM - our cats are also freaked out by the gym ball. They are very wary and don't know what to make of it. Poor things.

One of our cats has developed a red weepy eye.. so back to the vet AGAIN and we've only just paid him for last time. Oops.

Antenatal talk last night and the midwife talked A. LOT. about lochia and bleeding and bleeding and yeah, there's going to be a lot of BLOOD. The men were looking distinctly queasy. Quite funny cos the midwife is a man and really quite blokey with it. He was really stressing to the guys, you don't need to look at the messy end.. don't go thinking you need to see the stitches being done, it's a BAD PLAN and you could be put off for a long time.. hehe

geordiemacminx · 16/02/2007 11:41

Katy - just seen you are an NHS IT worker - where abouts are you based?

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 11:50

gmm - at Appleton House in Durham, just down the road from the hospital (I work for the PCT)

geordiemacminx · 16/02/2007 11:57

My mum works for the PCT... well actually she finished on Tuesday, she worked at John snow house, and then for the past few years she worked at Merrington House... on the fone to her at the moment - she's asking if you know 2 richards, anthony and leanne that work there?

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 12:04

Yes I do -the IT support staff - what's her job at MH before I tell you exacltly where I work (in case she hates me).
Where's she working now?

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 12:05

That wasn't meant to sound as paranoid as it did

geordiemacminx · 16/02/2007 12:29

She said she couldnt recall anyone called katy.. she was Hr administrator.

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 12:43

She worked in HR for Sedgefield PCT? I don't think I've ever met anyone at HR in Sedgefield - in fact I didn't know it exists, thought they were shared and all based at Dales!!
I actually work in the software development department, we work upstairs from Anthony and Leanne! (not sure who the 2 richards are, but that could be pregnancy brain!)

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 12:47

Has she got another job? When does she start?

geordiemacminx · 16/02/2007 12:48

it might have been a richard and 2 michaels?

There was only 3 of them I think... and like I said, she left on Tuesday before all the redundancies started... she is going to take some time off to chill,... and pester her daughter and impending grandson!!

She is called Karen?

Katy44 · 16/02/2007 12:56

I see - yes, my mum is also hoping to have lots of time to spend with us, she's trying to reduce her hours.
Don't remember a Karen but will try to have a think...
We're expecting all th restructuring and redundancy stuff to happen soon

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 16/02/2007 13:21

PMSL at visions of these poor cats being bowled over by birthing balls!

Hi all, and hope everyone is ok today.

Bramshott, how is the leg today?

I sat with my bob wide open at some of the remarks you ladies have had to deal with about bump size etc. People are so bloody cheeky aren't they.
I am getting the opposite, in that they keep saying how small I am, which now makes me paranoid.

Katy, I don't get the whole measuring with a tape thing either, as surely it depends on how the baby is lying at the time of measuring - ie could have its arse sticking out which would add a few cm's. I think it's a load of old pants.

Maveta, your a/n talk sounded delightful!
Sorry to hear about your puss. My cat has scratched itself to bits- I think he is actually allergic to the flea drops we use. Can't win - scratches with fleas, or with the treatment.

8.5 weeks, hope you are enjoying your mat leave and that the boys behave.

I am feeling great today. Slept like a log and the indigestion is no more - hurrah! Really got me down yesterday.

I am tempted to write to the makers of Gaviscon and ask if they can make it in a chocolate flavour

Right, at work and had better get on with it.

Laters. xx

nuttygirl · 16/02/2007 14:13

Hello all

Lol @ 'cat skittles'.

Also PMSL at 'minty sperm' cos someone I used to live with (when I was a student) wouldn't have any of the white sauce you often get with kebabs cos where she lives a couple of takeaways were found to have...err...spiced it up with sperm

Katy - I measured a week small at my last appointment but when I looked at my notes there's a diagram in there which showed at 31 weeks I should measure 30 weeks (ie I was measuring right for my dates). I think the 'measurement should EQUAL weeks' is a bit of an approximation. Also all the mws seem to measure it differently so can't see how they ever know it's right.

WCL - Mine's breech too...wish it would turn so sending you baby somersaulting vibes! Told my bean if she turned I'd buy her pretty dresses and shoes for xmas LOL but hasn't worked so far hope it's not a boy after all....

My chair is coming this evening , been getting cramp in one of my legs and I think it's because I keep having a snooze on the sofa where I can't stretch my leg out properly so hoping the chair helps.
