Surprise, surprise - I got roses and chocolates (delivered) AND a card AND a nice dinner (which dh cooked) with champagne! I rather suspect a guilt factor about Sunday's shenanigans on top of having been away for a holiday without me might have something to do with it because it's definately not par for the course, but hey, I'm not complaining

I took ds with me to see the midwife yesterday and he was facinated to be able to hear the baby's heartbeat. Bump is still growing steadily well above the top line on the chart, but at least it's only following parallel to the line now, not veering even further from it. I guess we'll find out more in a couple of weeks when I get a growth scan.

rosylonginglily · 15/02/2007 08:06

Moss your poor dh, at least it is good practise and once it's over he can relax again. I have a midwife appointment today too.

Muppet, I used to be so much better at cooking things from scratch, nowadays I've got lazy about it. Every now and then I make a slight effort. And I make a big pot of curry every so often and I should do that more because everyone loves it and it's healthier than oven chips or frozen pizza!
I love going to my sisters house, she's always baking bread or muffins and making veggie dishes, soup and proper puddings...slurp. That's probably what I need actually, a good hot dinner in me, that usually improves my mood

rosylonginglily · 15/02/2007 08:07

Lunar that is great. You did deserve that! Glad all is well with baby too.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 09:01

Ah Lunar that's sweet. You deserved it too after the other day!

Rosy my lovely, here are some roses for you!

I have to write two marketing mailers today but thankfully I have done all of my adverts for the week. Oh thank goodness. I think if I hear the phrases "fosters a culture of lifelong learning" and "based in plush offices in the heart of Liverpool's thriving business district" before next week I really will "thunk"!

Oh crap I've just written them haven't I?

Thunk!!!!

Morning all... good luck to everyone seeing mw's today etc.

Leo.... update??????

Morocco - could be a foot in your fanjo... but could just as easily be an arm. If the pressure has come right off your bladder that may be another sign babe is breech... but I'm sure it won't be

Foxy - are you on your last day yet??

Mossy - wish you hadn't mentioned sweet and sour because it's given me one almighty craving for pork balls phnar phnar Ye Gads! This could invite comments that rival the great saveloy sausage debate.

37 weeks (boy)

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 09:08

Muppet, don't start!

Do you like them in a salty sauce?

(Stop it! Stop it now!)

OP posts:
muppetisacat · 15/02/2007 09:13

Mossy - they really do need an element of moisture. It allows one to take them whole into one's mouth without stuff dribbling down your chin

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 09:21

Muppet I genuinely can't top that one!!!

PMSL!

I find they leave an unpleasant after taste

I never got nuffink yesterday.I wasn't expecting anything more than nuffink either (poor me emoticon)

TheBlonde · 15/02/2007 09:32

Morning all, gotta dash as off to see the GP for a antenatal check up

No exchange of Valentine's gifts or cards here but I'm not too fussed.

Any word from Leo?

muppetisacat · 15/02/2007 09:38

Kitty... always ensure the balls are from a reputable supplier... otherwise, yes they can indeed leave a nasty taste in one's mouth.

I am stopping now...

foxabout2pop · 15/02/2007 10:32

You lot are being vary saucy again aren't you?

Yes my last day at work today - have mixed feelings of being relieved as my body can't cope any more and being cross about the idea of someone else doing my job.

Mossy - its horrible having to apply for an internal job - specially when you don't feel confident. I was pressuerd into applying for a senior internal vacancy when PG with DS. I had to do assessment tests and my labour started during the tests! I then had to go to an interview 6 days after I had DS (my first child) so the whole saga kind of blighted the time around the birth.

Good luck for your DH today - at least he's been seen to go for it, so they know he's up for promotion (fingers crossed)

Lunar - glad your appointment went well - when are you going back again?

Good luck with the appointments today girls

I was in agony last night too - Monti was doing something very painful in my pubic area - kicking/punching and I could hardly stand up..

Had a good sleep though - slept 6 hours until 3am, then got up and had a cheese sandwich and a glass of wine and fell into a deep sleep until 6.30am! Look a bit baggy eyed today though

Hope everyone has a good day today

spongecake · 15/02/2007 10:56

hi all- just back from docs- gave up wih mw as she is so nasty. have no scales at home- can't bear them so borrowed hers and I have put on 5 STONE. First time have been weighed since pregnant so am in total shock.

also am measuring 2 weeks oming early????

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 10:58

Foxy you went into labour during the tests?!

And dh thinks he has it bad!

I tried to do the old presentation / sales training chestnut with him last night, and I think some of it sunk in, but when I left for work this morning he had hardly slept.

It seems silly to me (why not just either promote people if they're good enough, or interview externally if there isn't anyone good enough internally?) but dh is used to all this as he's been in public sector ever since we moved back up here and they have all this equal opps stuff which means they have to advertise everything etc. etc.

Foxy what are you doing for your last day at work? Are they taking you out for lunch?

OP posts:
boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 11:00

Xposts, Spongecake why is your mw so nasty, I can't remember?

OP posts:
spongecake · 15/02/2007 11:00

sorry i meant does asuring bigger mean baby coming early? am 36 wks, measure 38??

spongecake · 15/02/2007 11:05

mossy, she is just crap- keeps you waiting for up to an hour, snaps at you if you ask questions or get flustered also bitches about previous mums to be and made me mad by saying that it didn;t matter that one mum to be had been kept waiting by her, as she only worked as a burger jockey!!!

the other one is fine, but you can't pick and choose. So, I just book 2 appointments, one with doc and one with mw, and if its her on the day, cancel and see doc instead.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 11:07

Spongecake that's rubbish isn't it?

My mw is a bit ineffectual, but she is very nice with it so I don't mind.

I don't know anything about fungal height and what it means though! If you are measuring big doesn't it mean you will have a big baby? I don't understand it either!!

OP posts:
kittywaitsfornumber6 · 15/02/2007 11:09

Sorry Spongecake it doesn't mean anything.
Measuring big also doesn't mean big baby. You can measure small and have a big baby. Big babies don't necessarily come early. My last was big and was v.v.late Sorry . Of course that's not to say that your baby won't be born early at great speed, with great ease and won't hurt a bit

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 15/02/2007 11:11

Spongecake , you should put in a complaint if you can be arsed.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 11:11

Kitty I don't understand, why do they measure it, if it doesn't mean anything? Or is it just to check that you are growing each time you go?

(I have never quite understood tbh, surely I, size 16 pre-pg, would measure larger than someone slimmer anyway?)

OP posts:
kittywaitsfornumber6 · 15/02/2007 11:21

Mossy, many clinics don't measure it anymore simply because it can be so inaccurate and misleading.,
I notice for example that my midwife has a different starrting poihnt to the doc; She measures from the middle of my pubic bone and everyone else measures from nearer the bottom. So you could have 3 different people measure you on a given day and all would have different answers.

Fungal height measurement is a usful as a guide, as you say, to how the baby is growing. If you are a first timer your fungal height will probably be higher because of the way you carry. If you have a saggy old womb like mine the baby is likely to sink lower and therefore your fungal height will not be as high.
If you have a breech baby your measurement will be higher because of how the baby is sitting etc.
Also as the baby drops in the last few weeks your fungal height might actually appear to decrease.
I never measured big with dd3 so her size was a shock. It's all a very inaccurate science, but is useful to give you a rough idea. I think your actuall size has little to do with fungal height. I am a size 6-8 when not preg but will come out measuring similarly to you.

There, now you're confused

Katy44 · 15/02/2007 11:23

Sorry for the hijack (I'm from the April thread) but measured small at my last MW appt and I don't understand either! I was a size 14-16 before I got pregnant so probably measured 10 weeks then! Surely it's dependednt on which position the baby's in - and how do they know where to start and end the tape measure??

Katy44 · 15/02/2007 11:25

Yes, so am I - she said I was only 1cm low which was nothing to worry about, but 4cm would have been - surely that's overreacting for what would is completely unaccurate? I'd never been measured before by the way so it's not like she had anything to compare it to!

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 11:33

Can I do a "thunk" sound effect for me crashing onto the floor with info overload? Lol!

Only messing, that does help explain it actually. It seems that everyone does everything differently. I haven't had anything plotted on a graph, for example. Mil said they used to weigh her when she was pg, and used that as a guide instead.

(Have to say I wouldn't want weighing though. I am in blissful ignorance atm about my weight gain!!)
