Well done for getting home Callie. It is perfectly normal to feel emotionally wobbly for the first few days of having a new baby home AND you have had the whole trauma of Jordi being born early to contend with too - so it's no wonder that you are feeling down. Big hugs to you all.

I would echo what Foxy said and encourage you to ring NCT or La Leche - they really can give loads of advice/ support. Does your area have a breastfeeeding counsellor ? Anyone you can borrow a pram from too - which area do you live in ?

Leo - hope this is it for you and it all goes smoothly !! How exciting !

Have just taken lots of photos of stuff to sell on ebay from my mothers hoarding !! No doubt I will go into labour as soon as the auctions close and I will be unable post anything off. Oh well never mind !!

Rosy - don't worry - I can see my DS's thinking .. "not mashed potato again" too.. as long as they are fed - it won't kill them !!

36 + 3 boy

AmieR · 14/02/2007 17:16

I love fish finger sandwhiches.. lots of mayo and ketchup!

divastropwantstodrop · 14/02/2007 17:18

rosy-i dont have any friends who would be able to look after 4 children at any time of the day/night,so if i go into spontaneous labour then i will have to give birth on my own...hehehe.unless it falls out in the bathroom or something

moss-seriously,what is polonium??

i have given up on that other thread now on the grounds that i have no idea what 'thunk' means

callie-good that you are home.i had to give up bf ds1 after 5 weeks as we never got the ahng of it and my milk never came in properly.but from the sound of it you will be able to carry on-you just have to get over this glitch.i only gave up cos i really wanted to deep down,i wanted to give up after about 5 days but was too scared to say.

i can honestly say i have never felt judged by anybody on this site for choosing to ff.

leo-are you going to get a ripe pineapple or do i have to direct you to a 'saveloy'??

TheBlonde · 14/02/2007 17:23

Hey folks
All this talk of food is making me hungry but there's nothing in the house I actually wanna eat
Dinner will be takeaway of some kind tonight

Finally ordered my tens machine from Boots so just have to remember to pick that up next week (and check it has all the bits... last time DH had to do a mad dash to the shop before they shut as it was missing a wire)

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 14/02/2007 17:31

It's that radioactive stuff. You know that Russian ex-spy who was poisoned in the news fairly recently, he was poisoned with polonium.

I don't know what thunk means though. I assume it's something sarcastic but I don't know what!!

Laidback I used to hate mash until dh started making it with butter, and putting in loads of parmesan cheese!!!

Tonight we are gonna find the cash from somewhere and get a takeaway! Now that's my idea of a romantic meal... no cooking and no washing up! And then I'll spend about an hour giving dh...

...a mock interview. Fun fun fun!

Xposts The Blonde snap takeaways are brill!

sazzybee · 14/02/2007 17:46

Well I have made a lentil moussaka and defrosted the freezer so I reckon I deserve a rest. The moussaka is to go into the freezer so that my mum has more time to look after me after the baby's born rather than cooking. I've never made one before but I'm sure it adds to my lentil-weaving creds

Callie - I know we've not really spoken but I think you've been absolutely remarkable - so brave and strong. I can imagine that getting mastitis after all you've been through is the straw that broke the camel's back and I think it would be very odd if you didn't feel down about it. I won't give you any bf advice as I know bugger all about it but I really hope you start feeling better soon.

sazzybee · 14/02/2007 17:47

Oh - and I'm very glad no one else understands thunk either - thought it was just me!

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 14/02/2007 17:56

Lentil moussaka sounds nice Sazzy but I think tonight it'll be chips & gravy or sweet & sour chicken for tea for me!

Off home in four minutes - hurrah!

OP posts:
rosylonginglily · 14/02/2007 17:59

mmm lentil moussaka, that's what I would like for dinner! slurp. I love other peoples cooking!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 14/02/2007 18:00

Blimey, new thread and you're already galloping away.
I have posted on that other thread that I hate 'thunks' they really wind me up.it's sounecessary. We all get frustrated, i do withthe asmount of self satisfied claptrap that gets spouted but I don't go round pretending to thud my head against a wall .

Callie, see your gp and get some ab's. I had one bout I shifted using a warm shower and one lot I needed ab's for.

rosylonginglily · 14/02/2007 18:01

Diva I seriously think the dropping it in the bathroom thing is going to happen to me this time
thunk

foxabout2pop · 14/02/2007 18:12

I think thunk on that other thread is short for "we don't agree with you so you can feck off!!"

its all got a bit bogged down in the "when to wean" health fascist wind up if you ask me !!!

leo - what's happening - give us an update!!

Callie - you out there? Where do you live? My friend is an NCT BF counsellor if you want to ring her for a chat text me on 07779-289-041 today or tomorrow.

I wish I'd bought a Waitrose curry or something romantic for dinner - have done nowt for V day - too tired...Hope DH brings me some chocolate home though...

Just realised that I'll probably give birth the week beginning 26 Feb - that's less than 2 weeks away!!!! [attention seeking emoticon]

foxabout2pop · 14/02/2007 18:13

Waitropse curry was a joke BTW

muppetisacat · 14/02/2007 18:37

Jay - 11 mums and babies - that IS a creche! I hope you have a dishwasher for all those coffee mugs and tippees!

Callie - just keep telling yourself how well you have done so far. Just having kept Jordi getting any breastmilk at all during these past weeks is a huge acheivement. I had mastitis with both babies before - quark cheese is meant to help - but also my mw suggested some homeopathic drops - never got round to finding out what they were with last baby as i stopped feeding him at 4 months - but will defo investigate this time around cos it is no fun at all having mastitis. Big hugs to you in meantime and keep that chin up girl.

Amie - "Ham hock", "pea thing"... whereabouts did you say you lived.....? (wipes dribble from mouth)

Leo - how exciting... not long til you see those babies...

Foxy - you do love a waitrose curry don't you! I thinks I must get me one...

Rosy - as your dh is away a lot (same as mine) do you bother cooking for yourself much? Unless I'm eating with the kids I find I just can't be bothered to cook for myself... (looking for sympathy emoticon..ooh yes and some of Amie's dinner emoticon)

divastropwantstodrop · 14/02/2007 19:59

oh i get it,so it means 'this person is obviously intellectually inferior to me as she wont listen to and agree with everything i say so i may as well be banging my head against a brick wall'

i need to read something light hearted now as i'm getting worried about my appointment tomorrow.i just want it over with

morocco · 14/02/2007 20:16

good luck tomorrow, diva.

callie - (((hugs))) and hope you feel betterr soon. sounds like you are letting go of a lot of stress and tension from the last month or so - let it out and take care of yourself

leo - update????????

hope this really is the last thread, but at this rate we'll have to have dropped by next week

I'm sure dd has turned again, she is kicking so hard in the fanjo it takes my breath away - feels just like a little foot. guess it could be a hand and she's got her hands right up on the top of her head - is that much better??

am going on tour of hosp on sat so finally getting organised

TheBlonde · 14/02/2007 20:23

Diva - good luck tomorrow

Morocco - tour sounds good. I've not managed to look round the hosp yet as they only seem to do early evenings which doesn't work well with a 2 year old
Haven't seen a MW since before Xmas so haven't been able to ask if there are any other times to go see the place

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 14/02/2007 20:47

Morocco, I was punched horribly in the fanjo and bladder by dd3. She was born with her fist jammed into her cheek and her elbow sticking out sideways.

Good luck tomorrow Diva and Amie

I have been making myself cook and eat one decent meal a day since the small for dates worry. The rest of the time I pick at stuff and hoover up what the kids leave.

eidsvold · 14/02/2007 20:56

oh callie - you have done so well to get this far.

I can relate to how you feel - I desperately wanted to feed dd1 - I expressed as much as I could for about 8 weeks and she was fed both breast milk and formula milk BUT i just could not get my supply going. I felt bad that I was not able to feed her properly BUT again understood that any milk she had from me was good.

With dd2 - it took about 6 weeks for my milk to come in properly and for everything to get going and again I was upset at times thinking I would never get the hang of this. Thankfully my SIL was so helpful with ideas and more importantly support. Your dh sounds fab - mine was too ( and still is). I would not worry about valentines day - you have enough on your plate to worry about at the moment.

Fab though - Jordi is home and you can be a family without hospital visits and leaving him with someone else.

have read the other messages but forgotten what others have written. Hope all is okay with leo. can relate to the non cooking feeling - not helped by the heat here - jsut do steak/fish and salads cause that is all i feel like doing.

eidsvold · 14/02/2007 20:58

dd2 was cute today - I have started talking to the dds about being gentle with the baby as well as how mummy will go to hospital soon to have the baby and we will all get to see the baby soon. How their great aunt will be coming to stay with them and how daddy won't be going to work etc.

Dd2 kept kissing my belly and telling me she was going to be gentle and wanted to hold baby's hand cause we'll be seeing baby soon.

AmieR · 14/02/2007 21:14

awww Eidsvold! so cute!

Diva - I'm sure you'll be all OK, saying that I'm a little nervous about mine! thoughts are with you!

Kitty - Thanks for the thoughts!

Dinner went down well, but DH has gone to train his ladies... lucky him eh? lol

We were told for security reasons our maternity department didn't allows visits! But could take the online virtual tour!

I only seem to get BH in the evening.. is that quite common?

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 14/02/2007 22:16

It is Amie, saying that I get them all the time now.

Eids your dd's sound really cute!!

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 15/02/2007 06:44

Trouble with "thunk" is, it sounds more like the sound effect of someone doing a number two. Very intellectually superior.

Eids that's so cute!

Diva / Amie good luck with your appointments let us know how you get on.

Last night we had a takeaway (went for sweet & sour in the end as dh didn't want to have that stodgy chip feeling the morning of his interview) and I spent an hour coaching him for his interview & presentation tomorrow. He was a nervous wreck when I got in, curled up in a ball on the sofa, poor thing.

It's quite a senior (internal) job that he's going for, everyone else who is going for it (external) is at least ten years' older than him (I mean obviously they can't discriminate - or rather, they can't be seen to discriminate) but he has to go for it because technically he could do the job, and if he didn't it would look bad on him.

There is a slim chance he could get it, but it's only very slim. And the manager who is interviewing has a history of not giving jobs to internal candidates on principal.

I just think he could do without this stress in his life atm, but I suppose at least after today it will be over.

I have mw appt today, just the usual fungal height / heartbeat / bp thing, mil is coming 'cos she wants to hear his heartbeat so I will have some company which will be nice.

Hope everyone else is okay... Leo any news????

rosylonginglily · 15/02/2007 07:52

I find it quite entertaining when people put in sound affects, if they were trying to look intellectually superior it didn't work, trying to add a comedy element?...that worked!
It's probably just me I'm in such an odd mood...
Well I didn't get a valentines card or chocolates or flowers..sigh, (even my dad got roses for my mum.)piscean huff piscean huff.... I don't think I would've cared except Dh is here for one day after 3 weeks and is about to leave for Pakistan, he spent last night doing paper work until 3am. The kids are all unsettled and excited to have him here so ds2 didn't sleep well...I want to be able to take dh for granted, have the chance to get sick of him before he leaves...moan, moan moan...
I think I need more breakfast!
