ok, I admit... I have read only halfway through. I kinda stopped when you started heading into the gutter again (with your talk of saveloys and pork balls).

Dd and I saw the midwife and I aired my concerns. Apparently they are natural but I felt like she was saying that. I hope that things improve. Baby is lying in an awkward possy across my belly with its head in my pelvis and jammed under my ribs. That explains some of the pain.

It seems to be a day for girlfriends and lunches . We were very spoiled today too... and a trip to Pumpkin Patch for socks (thanks Eids! Any excuse really).

Dh is in Edinb today but has an early flight home so we are (finally) going to pick up the buggy and order the carseat.

Enjoy your last few hours Moss!! Glad everyone elses medical appointments have gone well today.

TheBlonde · 15/02/2007 17:35

Dolly - I never got on with hand expressing but this is apparently the method (from Kellymom)

Hand expression

  • Place thumb and index finger on either side of the nipple, about 3 to 5 cm (1-2 inches) back from the nipple.
  • Press gently inward toward the rib cage.
  • Roll fingers together in a slight downward motion.
  • Repeat all around the nipple if desired.

Needs pictures really to explain it properly!

sazzybee · 15/02/2007 17:39

diva - glad your appt went well and your lo has turned. Hopefully i'll be joining in when i see the consultant on Monday. Fingers crossed!

Oh and I don't have an issue with ff vs bf - whatever works for you. I do find some people here a bit scarily evangelical about it though!

Booboo - that's great about the homebirth. I'm really envious. If I had my time again and had loads of babies, I'd have them at home.

Mossy - I'm in NW London and having the baby at St Mary's in Paddington.

Chocolatepenny · 15/02/2007 18:04

Hi All March Clubbers
Just checking up on you all, Has anybody actually had their baby yet? I'm too tired to read through posts. Well its nearly the end, Thank God! I am knackered. Really big front now, and his bum sticks out , I like to give it a pat every now and again!

TheBlonde · 15/02/2007 18:33

Hi ChocolatePenny!

Callie had her baby early but he came home at the weekend which is fab
No other arrivals so far

Chocolatepenny · 15/02/2007 18:45

That's Great News! sounds like a good birth too, really want a straight forward birth but I had my Tarot cards read and it said I would have a operation in store. And since I don't yet need my hip replacing...erm..

Chocolatepenny · 15/02/2007 18:46

Did Callie have him very early then?

TheBlonde · 15/02/2007 18:59

8 Jan it was I think - so he was 2 mths early

Chocolatepenny · 15/02/2007 19:00

Oh did'nt realise he was that early, Glad he's home now

foxabout2pop · 15/02/2007 19:32

Hi everyone

Hope callie is OK...

Jay and Leo - looks like you two may be next - how exciting!!!

Dolly - hope your friends baby is OK

Mossy - R U supposed to clean microwaves then?

Piffle - LOL at your analysis - reminds me of a labout party speach once, where my friend counted 40 uses of the word "tough"!!!

Boo- well done for veering towards a hime birth, I'm sure it will be a very special experience

Diva - when is your induction date???

Sazzy - just about to join you on leave

I did get a presentation after all (bos hadn't forgotten) - got chanpagne and chocolates (they know me too well...) and a huge "bucket" full of flowers. Will take them home and place them next to the ones DH got me to put him to shame !!!

Feel all sad now - just clearing my desk...

divastropwantstodrop · 15/02/2007 20:10

fox-my induction date is 7th march.2 weeks 6 days.

dolly-hope your friends baby is ok,were there complications or is he just poorly cos he was a bit early?

hi chocolatepenny

hope callie is ok.

moss-didnt the mw write the baby's position on your notes?i dont bother asking the consultant any questions now,i just read what shes written.i had a feeling the baby had turned round yesterday as my back felt alot better.

she put my fungal height as =to gestation.weird.i was told with ds and dd2 that my fungal height was above my dates because of my saggy womb.surely rasberry leaf tea isnt that effective.

i'm being attacked by cold viruses atm that ive been trying to fight off since mondaydont know where my immune systems gone.

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 15/02/2007 20:22

Diva, I've been told the opposite , that saggy wombs lead to lower fungal height 'cos the baby sort of sinks down iyswim.

Foxy, welcome to the stay at home club

rosylonginglily · 15/02/2007 20:49

Mossy, thanks for the flowers just what I needed...I'm such a total misery guts today!

Hi Chocolatepenny! We've been enjoying your book!

I had my mw appointment today too and its someone different every time I go. Todays lady was lovely. She was telling me about the birthing pool at the hospital and how they deliver baby onto your tummy. I might try the pool! going to pack a bikini!

Dh is away in his whirl of crazy chaos. I really don't know when I'll see him next. We are all worried about his mum.

Glad everyone seems to be ticking along mostly ok and all these inductions and sections being booked and people having labourish twinges is all a bit exciting!

eidsvold · 15/02/2007 20:56

glad to hear some appts went well.

sorry to hear you had a crap midwife appt mossy.

I was very lucky when having dd1 - the midwife at our surgery was fabulous - although she moved about a month or so before I had dd1 - no probs - def hospital birth and had been changed to consultant care by that stage.

watched a fab show last night called saving babies - about the amazing work done at Sydney's royal woman's hopsital - dealing with babes who were in the NICU - brought back memories for us. Amazing things docs do - little one born with bowel on outside of his body and docs operated as soon as he was born to put it back into his stomach - just incredible to see.

tried fitting third car seat into the back seat yesterday - they all fit but my plan of having the baby on the outside and the girls able to climb from the footpath into their seats isn't going to work as we would have to have the driver's seat so forward dh and I would be hugging the steering wheel - so back to the drawing board.

5 weeks til c-section - can't wait.

LaidbackinEngland · 15/02/2007 21:04

Rosy - I feel for you... Hope DH's mum is Ok when he gets out to Pakistan - does anyone know how bad she is ? Is your DH the eldest son ?

Kitty/Diva - Sometimes I think even professionals make things up as they go along to sound like they know what they are talking about .... I know I did !

Diva - 7th March is my brothers birthday and 8th March is my sister in law and brother in laws birthday.... Have been told I need to give birth on either of these dates to make it "easier" for others to remember !?

Boo - excited you are thinking about a home birth - I hope to with this one too - DS2 was born at home - It was much more relaxed than being in hospital I think.

Giving my baby "don't grow too big " vibes to stop him being bigger than DS2 ....must start the perineal massage tonight.

Kitty/Diva/Rosy and other "pros" - did your labours speed up as you had more babies ? DS2 took longer than I expected - although was faster than DS1 - can I expect DS3 to squeeze out nice and quickly ?? [please God ?emoticon]

LaidbackinEngland · 15/02/2007 21:06

I need to try the car seats Eidsvold - thanks for reminding me.... just starting to dawn on me that three kids or more and you are all of a sudden struggling for space ...bit late to realise that now methinks.

rosylonginglily · 15/02/2007 21:20

Laidback dh is the youngest and the one who his mum always asks for. It will cheer her to see him. His older brother is a consultant gynacologist in Dorset and will be arriving during next week. Dh has to move his mum to a big city hospital when he gets there. They can't diagnose what's wrong where she is...something to do with her heart. We don't know how ill she is but she is still able to tell people off aparently!

The first stage of my labours actually get longer each time but that's the easy bit, transition- 30 secs! body pushing- 2/3 pushes and they are out! easy peasy lemon squeezy

LaidbackinEngland · 15/02/2007 21:27

Rosy - Good sign that she can still tell people off !! It's par for the course for elderly Asian muslim mums to boss their sons about !!

Defo want a lemon squeezy labour .

spongecake · 15/02/2007 21:48

oh, am so dreading going to bed tonight and spending the entire night awake, fidgeting, itching and being unable to get up or turn over as too big to move and get cast when lay down. when do struggle up, go to loo, nothing, wander back, get into bed BIG decision on what side to lay as know baby will fuss and kick whatever I do!!! dp looks exhausted and the baby isn;t even here yet, poor love...also think i would be tired but can't sleep, even in day as same problems if try to nap in day. assume am not alone????

bought shortbread to put in hospital bag but have eaten it

rosylonginglily · 15/02/2007 21:57

Spongecake have you got lots of pillows? I have two for my head one for my back one for under my bump and one for between my knees it's lovely, I'm going there soon!

TheBlonde · 15/02/2007 22:22

Spongecake - I would also recommend lots of pillows. I have 3 for my head and then a big long one for the legs & bump
I am waking a minimum of twice a night but some nights every hour. My mom always says it's practice for when the baby arrives but I could cope without it I'm sure!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 15/02/2007 22:48

I'm still one wee a night

I third the more pillows route spongcake

Laidback, mine have all got quicker, especially the pushing. I tend to get very bad bh's /practice/prelabour contractions a couple of weeks beforehand, I mean bad enough to keep me awake all night,so when we finally blast off for real it's v. quick. However, very quick isn't necessarily a good thing as it's very intense and quite a shock to the body. I got the shakes very badly after having the last one. I would much rather have a slower labour this time.

divastropwantstodrop · 15/02/2007 23:13

ive not really woken up for a wee as such, but dd2 has been waking during the night quite alot the past few weeks and i just go for a wee when ive seen to her.i think i actually slept from about 1.30-6.30 last night.

i'm just so used to needing a wee all the time anyway i can sleep through it...not the wee.you know what i mean

laidback-my 3rd birth was easier,i have to say,i dont know about quicker cos i was induced every time and dont know when 'established' labour actually started, but i wasnt in pain for very long with number 3 and 4 compared to the first 2.

rosy/kitty-am very of your 'couple of pushes and out they drop '.i really dont get why it took me 40 minutes to push ds and dd2 out.i must have an extra long fanjo or something.

sazzybee · 15/02/2007 23:37

if it's any consolation spongecake, I'm exactly the same. It's got to the point where I put off going to bed in the hope that if I'm absolutely knackered, I might sleep a bit better. I've got loads of pillows and they don't seem to make much difference - one between my knees is good but I hate having one under my bump. And he kicks like a donkey whichever side I'm on. Hope you have a better night tonight.

This is completely unconnected but we've got a powercut and the broadband still works! Weird.
