Wow can't believe I'm here 😁 I had a look, but couldn't see any other threads. Hopefully I won't be alone.

This will be our second baby. DS is 3.... 4 in january. EDD should be about 2nd August I think.

Hope I'm not alone for too long!

Heather apparently it subsides around week 14 for most women. According to my LMP I am almost 8 weeks but I had a scan last week and I was measuring one week behind so I guess I will probably have this for another 7 weeks or so Sad joy
I honestly don't know how I'll cope, I can't keep anything down, can't work, I'm nauseous from the minute I wake up to the minute I go to sleep and I'm sick a dozen times a day. I'm honestly baffled as to how women work, function, parent through this?!
I've found nothing that helps so far apart from sips of flat coke (recommended to me online and it does work) and also peanut butter on toast when I can face eating something. It's hell on earth!

Heatherbaby · 15/12/2016 10:16

lizzie I feel your pain and I've not even had it as bad as you yet. I'll try the flat coke! I also found yesterday I could almost control the wave of nausea if I breathed like a lunatic kind of how women blow out their breath when they're in labour.

One of my friends said your body does learn to adjust to the constant sickness. I'm so sad I organised the work xmas party but don't know if I can leave my bed in my darkened room :(

I really hope you feel better. My DH just made me a hot water with honey so going to try that, hope it's a miracle cure...

Kirstyinnorway · 15/12/2016 10:21

Ah, I was being lighthearted really - I know morning sickness is beyond horrible but at least having nausea decreases your chances of miscarriage by up to 70% according to some studies, and while Oggy and I are both in that critical period where our pregnancies have a higher chance of ending in miscarriage, feeling sick would actually be a good sign... I know it's so debilitating, and you sound as though you've had a really horrid time of it lizzie - hoping you feel better soon Smile - but it's also pretty awful struggling with such a lot of anxiety and trying to look on the positive side!

Pregnancy eh? Had no idea from beginning to TTC to here would be so fraught with worry and unpleasant side effects!

Kirstyinnorway · 15/12/2016 10:22

Higher than later weeks, I mean... The probability is still in our favour Wink

MrsG280516 · 15/12/2016 10:29

My mum didn't suffer from any nausea and I don't think DH's mum had any either so I'm just hoping I've got lucky genes as I've had nothing yet.

Sounds awful, I really feel for you ladies that have it. My best friend was hospitalised with hyperemesis gravidarum during both of her pregnancies. the second one was less severe after 6 months but the first one she was sick right up until the birth.

Carlotta82248 · 15/12/2016 10:37

Hi all! Not sure I dare do this but THINK I might be joining you girls! BFP straight away on clear blue last night, AF so far hasn't reared her head today! So very tentatively.....hiiiii x

Lizziedoll · 15/12/2016 10:39

Heather Lemons helps too. Squeeze a lemon in hot water and sip, It has worked for me though not every time. Also sucking on lemons too apparently (haven't tried that one yet).

Kirstyinnorway · 15/12/2016 10:40

Hello Carlotta, congratulations! Star

Oggy88 · 15/12/2016 10:46

Hey Carlotta, good to see you here :)

I becoming really desperate for some symptoms here. Even my cramping stopped yesterday! Turning into a major knicker checker! Is CM not supposed to be all dried up? Isn't mucus plug supposed to form in week 4? Doesn't that block all the goodies from coming out? Think I'm going mad here. Grin

Carlotta82248 · 15/12/2016 10:50

I'm still not a hundred percent Oggy, call me one leg in. Increased vaginal discharge in early pregnancy is really common though, I do no that from my sensible day job brain! X

Carlotta82248 · 15/12/2016 10:51

No?!? Good god, I hope I am pg so I can be forgiven that terrible error! KNOW!

Oggy88 · 15/12/2016 10:55

Eek, so hope it works out!

So DH and I are increasingly talking about this, whether it's a boy or a girl, when they'd be like etc. It's such a strange new topic! When did we grow up??? Grin

Kirstyinnorway · 15/12/2016 10:57

Gosh me too Oggy. I'll take anything! Feeling tired, or maybe some food aversions? Sore boobs, big boobs... Anything! (Disclaimer - I know all those things are rubbish in any great quantity too, just a little of something would be very calming though!)

Carlotta I'm still the same, when is your AF due? Do you know roughly how far on you are? I'm 3+4 today and feel like we must be around the same?

Loubella11 · 15/12/2016 11:02

hi guys!!! soooooooooo glad to be here! After mc at 5 weeks in September I am now 7 weeks exactly today! really hoping I can join your gang x

Carlotta82248 · 15/12/2016 11:03

Kirsty, my AF should be showing herself today! Can't see my accomplishing much apart from watchful waiting today. I'd be 3+6 so mega early days and so hard to believe after a few failed attempts x

Kirstyinnorway · 15/12/2016 11:06

We're close Carlotta! Keeping everything crossed for you (and me... And all the rest!) that all goes well Smile

Bring on that happy 12-week mark; I feel like I'm going to be a nervous wreck until then!

MrsG280516 · 15/12/2016 11:28

Wishing everyone lovely sticky beans! I found out 3 days before AF was due and it was really hard to believe but once another week comes and goes with no AF then it starts to sink in a bit!

9 days till we get to tell DH's parents then mine in 10 days. So excited, it can't come quick enough.

Heatherbaby · 15/12/2016 11:32

lizzie the honey and lemon water has definitely helped. I am getting out of bed and showering and may even turn up to work in a few hours... still feeling it though! How are you doing?

Welcome carlotta and congrats Smile the bfp is a wonderful feeling.

whoateallthejaffacakes · 15/12/2016 12:12

sure cow.
anyone else overheating? it's 8'c here but i constantly feel hot which makes me feel unwell :(
off to get some lunch - likely to be salt & vinegar rice cakes as not sure what i could stomach. 6wks today, only 34 to go Confused seems a lifetime away

Lizziedoll · 15/12/2016 12:22

Heather glad it helped some. I'm also ever so slightly better, managed to drink/keep down a glass of water and shower/wash hair. I haven't felt very nauseous for an hour or so, so squeezing in as many things to do as I can! Grin

Fieldsandgrasses · 15/12/2016 12:23

Could I be added please? 8th August. Thank you! No dramatic symptoms, bit tired in afternoons and evening is all.

ThirdThoughts · 15/12/2016 12:27

Just had a call from my new midwife, booking in appointment will be 30th December. No early scan unless there are problems and I've requested 25 micrograms of Levothyroxine from my GP's prescription service to try and get the ball rolling.

I suppose they may tell me I need to make an appointment, but it seems a waste of a slot when it is a standard increase in the dosage which I'm sure could be agreed by phone. The midwife told me if I already had 25microgram tablets then just to increase the dose immediately, so it's only because I don't already have them that I need the tablets.

Sorry that some folk have really bad sickness. Mine lasted until 20 weeks last time, but although I could be sick at any time of day, it wasn't constant nausea and I could keep half the food I ate down. Later on in pregnancy I found I could be sick after eating (eyes bigger than space left for my stomach) but wasn't nauseous, so frequently I'd eat half my tea, go away and be sick, then come back and eat the rest and keep it down. It was a bit disconcerting but manageable.

Heatherbaby · 15/12/2016 12:42

Ah lizzie I was being overly optimistic. After my shower I tried to eat toast and now I have the waves of nausea again. Trying not to vomit but officially not going in to work or to the party I so painstakingly organised Sad

thirdthoughts how did you get on with your everyday life with the nausea and vomiting. I don't feel like moving from my bed!
