Wow can't believe I'm here 😁 I had a look, but couldn't see any other threads. Hopefully I won't be alone.

This will be our second baby. DS is 3.... 4 in january. EDD should be about 2nd August I think.

Hope I'm not alone for too long!

Rang the GP this morning and the receptionist was all for me going in this afternoon! Not going to Tuesday though as fits better with work. Given the feedback from here am going to try not to get too excited that much will come of it
Sparkly I don't think you should let needing to give a reason be the the determining factor in whether you go, and only you can judge if you are well enough. There are enough winter vomiting bugs going around that could be an excuse and you would only be bending the truth a little. But I hope for your sake you do feel well enough!

alexnorthernireland1 · 06/12/2016 19:26

Cramps- get hot water bottle and water , a also hot bath ! I'm having a hot bath now too as I have cramps :( xx

hrfvenia · 06/12/2016 19:49

I can't copy cause I'm on my phone but my due date is supposedly the 31st July ☺️
Has anyone told work yet?

I'm really panicking about the reaction I've had already 😔😔

AiryFairy1991 · 06/12/2016 19:52

Oh no hrfvenia what reaction did you get? :-(
I've not told work yet, going to phone docs on Monday (want to do another test this weekend to make sure it's not all in my head!) and then I'll tell them I think? Like after I've spoken to a doctor/midwife

MrsG280516 · 06/12/2016 20:00

If I can help it then I don't think I'll be telling work until after the Christmas break. I do need to give plenty of notice though so won't wait any longer than 12 weeks.

Not too hot a bath, no overheating! According to the internet I'm 3rd July but I'm trying very hard not to think about it, partly because I know I ovulated pretty late and partly because 3 years ago today I had a mc that would have been due on the 5th august.. it's all freaking me out a wee bit!
Definitely won't be telling work until at least 12 weeks, legally you don't have to until after 20 I think?

hrfvenia · 06/12/2016 20:14

AiryFairy a very negative one, that suggested my beautiful news was going to be a hindrance and I should prepare to stand back and take what I'm given, rather than knowing my rights and exercising them for the like of ante natal appointments etc. I haven't been in the job long and am not yet qualified so am really worried they'll find a reason to let me go/not have a suitable job for me to return to.

Manager spent my whole dinner break telling me how horrific pregnancy is and how it's only going to get worse, and she can't believe I've already told people (I've told partner, BIL and SIL and work..) and how she went back to work early and how much good it did her son, making me feel as if that was what I should do.

Came home feeling very sad and downhearted about it, and wish I'd have kept my mouth shut now 😔

MrsG280516 · 06/12/2016 20:31

hrfvenia if I were you I would seek some advice from ACAS pretty soon and make sure you know what they can and can't do. Then make sure you inform them in writing of when you intend to take maternity leave, that way they can't deny that they knew you were pregnant and if they come up with any reason to remove you from your post you can basically take them to an employment tribunal.

AiryFairy1991 · 06/12/2016 20:35

How awful hrfvenia! This should be a happy time no one should make you feel bad about it at all! When will people realise that what is right for one person isn't always right for another!

hrfvenia · 06/12/2016 20:56

Thankyou for your kind words both of you.

I am quite knowledgeable in employment rights and have contacted my union to seek advice from them, will also contact ACAS thankyou xx

I'm really disappointed. I was really excited to tell people and now all I can think of is how everyone else is going to react, and who else is going to tell me wether I'm harming my baby by having a cup of tea!! Arghhhh.

So glad I found this forum otherwise I think I might just cry!

SociallyAcceptableCookie · 06/12/2016 21:34

Hrfvenia I'm so sorry you're going through this. However she feels about pregnancy, she still needs to give you all the rights you're entitled to. If you're at all worried I would keep a written and dated record of anything that happens, including emails. You're right, this should be a happy time for you, not stressful.

alexnorthernireland1 · 06/12/2016 23:48

Do what feels right for you.... Don't let anyone say no or that yourdecision are not right! I'm fed up with that too:/ X X

IceLemonGin · 07/12/2016 07:21

Can I join in? Got my bfp yesterday. Will be my second pregnancy, my DD is 16months and still bf. A total shock as we weren't thinking about ttc for another year at least.

My EDD is the 9th August however I had GD last time and dont expect that I will get past 38 weeks again...which is pretty much bang on my DDs birthday. I feel like a bad mum!

I have my booking in appt with the midwife on Tuesday.

How is everyone feeling?

Lizzielicious · 07/12/2016 07:47

Hi ladies. Can I join please? Got my bfp at the weekend. Estimated due date 13th Aug. First baby - so excited! No sickness or tiredness yet just cramps and sore boobs.

GoingToInfinity · 07/12/2016 08:01

I'm really suffering with sore boobs at the moment. Has anyone got a suggestions to try and relieve it?
I accidentally brushed one of them on a door frame this morning and wanted to cry!

alexnorthernireland1 · 07/12/2016 08:14

Boob massages!!!! And hot compress :) or a nice warm bath X
goingtoinfinity

thenorthernluce · 07/12/2016 10:48

My breasts aren't sore but I could honestly rip my nipples off and throw them in the bin for all the pain they're causing me! Just turning over in bed last night woke me up with the pain - ouch!

My only other symptoms are very mild cramps and slight dizziness in the mornings. I'm still eating like a horse, so I suppose I should take advantage of that while it lasts?

I have developed a minor cold overnight, which manifests in the sniffles and swollen glands for me. Luckily, I happen to have the day off today, so I have the heating on full blast and a duvet on the sofa, ready for some serious telly time.

I booked a viability scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre in London for 3 January, which is something to look forward to. I'm telling my family face-to-face when I go back up North at Christmas, eeeeeek!!!

Zelda91 · 07/12/2016 11:25

A little late to the party - but I'm expecting my first towards the end of August!

Not really sunk in yet..!

FlaminFlamingo99 · 07/12/2016 11:29

Hello, I'd like to join please!
Got my BFP yesterday, my app thinks I'm due 02/08/16 Smile
nausea kicked in todayHmm
Excited but scared at the same time. So much to do/buy! Will tell close friends / family at Xmas - worried when I tell other people it will open the flood gates on scary delivery stories and I'm not ever going to be ready for that

WantingBaby1 · 07/12/2016 11:34

Welcome new joiners!

So sorry about your experience with work Hrf, hopefully it hasn't dampened your wonderful news!

I haven't told work yet, I'm only 5 weeks and no symptoms yet, so will hold out for 12 weeks if I can.

Sparklyuggs · 07/12/2016 11:35

Welcome newbies!

Icelemon I have the same birthday as my sibling and DH, I love it :)

Alex I find sleeping in a sports bra helps, and one of those microwaveable hot things

gemgems2214 · 07/12/2016 11:59

LetMeHaveABloodyName · 07/12/2016 12:06

Wow there's loads of us now! Haven't read through previous posts as I struggle with Mumsnet, has anyone made a secret fb group yet or is it a bit early??
I had one on my last bus with DS and it wasn't so much easier than keeping up with these threads. We still find loads to talk about now
