Hello all, had my nuchal yesterday, what a huge relief. I was absolutely beside myself beforehand, couldn't eat or sit still. I had a blood test first and had to wait for the analysis and then about an hour later got in for the scan. All good news, 1 baby (had twins first time and was really hoping for 1 this time) and all results were excellent including initial testing for pre-eclampsia which I had severely in my first pregnancy. Nuchal test gave me equivalent risk as a 15 yr old - hurray ! Got some lovely photos and DH was grinning from ear to ear. Baby was bopping around like crazy, looks huge in the scan but only 6.2cm long or something.

Best of luck to all who still have scans coming up.

Mrsmar - finally had to phone re: booking appt at Georges, finally given an appt. on mother's day (a sunday!), but not at the hospital. Have you actually seen the maternity ward yet?

Kinki - I have two ds's as well (twins) and last night I phoned to tell my mother I was pregnant and her first comment was "let's hope it's a girl, I so want a granddaughter" and then told me "focus on it being a girl". Uh, think that might have already been decided - Grrrrr.....but kept my mouth shut. I just know MIL will be saying the same thing. I am just like you, happy with 3 boys and happy with 2 plus a girl. Healthy babe is all I want thanks very much! And I am not planning to find out so they will all have to suffer until September .

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/03/2007 21:14

Congrats canadianmum on your nuchal results. I had mine yesterday too. What a relief!!

MrsMar · 07/03/2007 22:02

Hi canadianmum, that's such great news! I'd be thrilled to have anything resembling a 15 year old about me!! (that sounds awfully pervvy, sorry not meant to be, it's just been a long time since I was 15!!!)

I've just got to get through this night now, think of something happy to dream about!!!

I still don't have a booking in appointment, but I think I'm a week or so behind you. DH did call to say someone had left a message on the answerphone with a number I don't know, asking me to call back, so I'll have to check to see if it's the same number as the midwives, they could be trying to arrange an appointment. I think a Mother's day appointment is fantastic, what a great omen!!!! Of course, you may have wanted to spend it having a lovely time with your girls, but still, can't think of anything more appropriate!

I hope I can post some good news on here tomorrow, night night all xxx

Nettee · 08/03/2007 10:39

Hello everyone, Have now passed the 12 week mark at last - less than a week till my scan. Lovely to hear good news from some of your scans this week.

Ellie - so very sorry to hear your news

Back to the old MS oddness - I have been away to spain for three nights - wasn't sick once or even particularly nauseous. As soon as I walked in the door at home was violently ill again and spent the afternoon making up for the previous three days. No too bad so far today though. Also some advice for the future - just don't take a two year old anywhere on a plane - not worth it.

pinkhearts · 08/03/2007 11:23

EllieG - Iam very sorry about your news. The same happened to me last year at the same time of the pregnancy. Please look after yourself and allow yourself to feel all the range of emotions - don't be hard on yourself.

pinkhearts · 08/03/2007 11:27

I had my nuchal scan last Tuesday and received the results 2 days ago and I am in the clear. I was very worried about my age (37) but the doctor said I had nothing to worry about it but if I wanted more tests done to be sure .... I passed him up on the offer!!!!!

I am now 13 weeks and can now tell people officially, including my 5 year old son, who is so excited and keeps kissing my belly and talking to the baby - very cute indeed.

My naus. has eased off considerably but I still find the afternoons and evenings a bit yukky. I am now going to enjoy this pregnancy as I haven't allowed myself to think about it too much up till now.

nh101 · 08/03/2007 13:01

So sorry to hear your news Ellie. xx

MMooMar · 08/03/2007 13:07

Hi All ,
Hope everyone is feeling great today.

God dont it make you feel better when the sun is out.DS is wrecking the house at the moment and I am letting him ,i`ll clean up when he has his nap.

You know what ,I cant beieve some of you still havent had your booking in appointments yet.Must be the different areas that we are in .I am in the w.mids and was booked in at 8wks.Never bothered with the G.P just phoned the docs and made a booking in appointment with the midwife.they like to get you in at 8 - 10 wks, she booked my dating scan on the phone while I was sitting there (even asked if the date was ok)and also booked my home visit for april.Had to book my bloods myself cos I want to use the clinic(cant be arsed to pull a ticket then sit and wait at the hospital),they just give you the paperwork so you can sort it out yourself.

Strange how it differs so much around the country though.

laksa · 08/03/2007 13:17

so sorry to hear your news elli its not fair.

Holly29 · 08/03/2007 13:17

EllieG,

Not sure you are still reading this, but all my thoughts are with you. It would be my worst nightmare, and I just hope that you are your lovely-sounding partner are bearing up. Take care. x

MrsMar - I will be watching this site all day for you to post!

Nettee - we are due on the same day! Such a good feeling to pass the 12 week stage...

x

laksa · 08/03/2007 13:23

I have just had the loveliest booking in appointment at the PRU. The two midwives I saw were so positive and said there was no reason I couldn't have my homebirth and I now get all my antenatal visits at my local surgery and only have to go to the hospital for my 23 week scan.

Mmoomar, I am in a really good mood today, must be the sun It is strange that people get such a lottery of care, guess thats the NHS system for you

Hope everyone is doing well!

xx

MMooMar · 08/03/2007 16:54

MrsMar ......are you out there?????

TeeCee · 08/03/2007 16:56

SheRaPOP · 08/03/2007 17:00

Hello lovely ladies. Sorry to be the bearer of sad news again but I had my nuchal this morning and it's also a missed miscarriage. The poor little thing stopped growing at 11 weeks, so only recently, and there was no heartbeat. The lady doing the scan was just lovely, and she did the nuchal measurement and said I would have been extremely high risk, so it was most likely a chromosonal problem. DH and I are of course devastated but we will keep trying. I wish you all the best with your pregnancies, it's been lovely sharing the last 12 weeks with you all. XXX

Hi Holly and mMoomar - God I feel terrible posting about my scan after others have had the most dreadful news. Scan went very well, little fella was really active, doing lengths I think, DH is convinced he's going to be a professional athlete now! Downs risk went from a baseline of 1:100 to 1:1000 so I'm not having any more tests done as I'm officially low risk. Quite a relief, and so surreal seeing a small person inside me, makes it all feel so real now.

I hope everyone else is well and happy

xx

LoopyLouLisa · 08/03/2007 17:59

Hiya, may I join your thread? Was on the due aug 07 but had a scan on tues and they've changed my edd to 10/09 (instead of 14/08!).

My thoughts are with those of you going through such a difficult time right now.

I am a little unsure of some of the abbreviations used on Mumsnet so I would love it if someone would humour me and explain it all!

I am 25, from Bristol. I also have a 12 month old son and my boyf is 35.

Thanks,
Lisa

MrsMar,

HURRAH! Am delighted for you. You are now due on the same date as me (well until my scan next week ). I am so crossing my fingers and toes for myself and everyone else who yet has scans to come.

Holly xxx

LoopyLouLisa · 08/03/2007 18:21

Thank u atalantis. I am not called LoopyLou for no reason! If i'd looked properly I should've seen that. Why does having a baby kill off brain cells?

Am feeling really fat but it's still all wobbly. I've gotta wear maternity clothes already as everything else just feels uncomfortable. I'm a big girl anyway but I already look (and feel) ready to drop.

MrsMar · 08/03/2007 18:24

Hi Holly - thanks for that. I hope your scan goes well. It'll be nice sharing an edd with someone, we can compare notes and whinge when we are desperate at 40 weeks!! :0
