Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hopeitwontbebig · 06/03/2007 19:10

Hi Holly, thanks for that, I will post on main page. It was SUCH a bonus having scan today, it's amazing how these things cause so many sleepless nights.

It was very surreal seeing this small person on the screen moving their arms and legs around, knowing that that is all going on inside me, wierd stuff.

I got the results through about half an hour ago, going on my blood test results and scan they've given me a Downs risk of 1:9000!!!!!!!!!!!! Same as a teenager, woo hoo! Always thought I still felt like a big kid inside, will never grow up. Mind you, all this is seeming very grown up now! 3 kids....

Hopeitwontbebig · 06/03/2007 19:12

Nicki10, I meant to say, I get the same problem, I'd describe it as someone twanging an enormous elastic band in my insides. Sometimes is goes when I sneeze, other times when I get up too quickly, move too quickly.

From what I remember I think it's called Round Ligament Pain, these are the ligaments that hold uterus and ovaries in place, understandably they're getting stretched to bu**ery!

Hope you feel better soon.

EdieMcredie · 06/03/2007 20:30

Nicki10

What's this babyshow about?!

Nicki10 · 07/03/2007 08:19

Thank you Hopitwontbebig it's always good to know that others are experiencing the same thing.

Edie the baby show is on at Excel house in London this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It has lots of naufacturers of all things baby! and there are midwives to answer anybody's questions. Lots of large companies do deals on Cots and pushchairs. I know it's too early to purchase but not too look!. It is a bit like the good homes show and wedding shows but for Babies!. I am very excited I can't tell you I am terrible at counting my days go past for the pregnancy but now I have two things to count down!.

It is also on at the NEC in May and then at Earls Court in the beginning of October but I figured that I wouldn't want to do it with a tiny baby.

Holly29 · 07/03/2007 08:58

HI Hopeitwontbebig

I am so delighted for you - 1:9000! I had never heard of anyone getting such a result - well done. I'm 33 and no previous pg, so am really worried about what they will say... Well anyway. Roll on Tuesday. Can't wait to see my baby on the screen. x

Hopeitwontbebig · 07/03/2007 10:25

Hi Holly,

I know, I'd never heard of such a score either!!

I wish you could have your Nuchal before Tuesday too, horrible having to wait, I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine, keep in touch x

laksa · 07/03/2007 11:43

Nicki, that sounds interesting think I might drag the DH along to the babyshow, only problem is that I get self conscious about looking a pregnancy/baby related stuff without a visible bump...

I am doing very badly on the forbidden foods front, only just realised that I ate feta on sunday. I went out to a turkish restaurant and ate cheese borek which is pastry with feta inside. It was heated up but the cheese wasn't boiling or anything, this was bad wasn't it

Oh and this morning had my first projectile vomit across the kitchen sink...Dh handed me some juice in a glass and I took a swig and promply threw my breakfast up! He had been to the supermarket the night before and stocked up on PRUNE JUICE? as he had heard that pregnant women can get constipated, a little warning would have been nice (thought it was grape juice) I most heartily do not recommend it.

Nicki10 · 07/03/2007 11:57

I know what you mean Laska I just look fat at the moment!. I always find that a blatant rub of the lower stomach helps people realise that you are pregnant. This is especially good at getting you a seat on the tube! I also carry a baby book in my bag so people give up there seats!.

Where are you based Laska? What hospital will you be at?

I have been craving Brie for the last 8 weeks so I'm going to ask the midwife how bad it really is on Tuesday. I also made a cake last week and licked the bowl which had raw eggs in. Yes I'm sure I will go to hell but isn't that the best bit of making a cake

laksa · 07/03/2007 12:02

I'm at the Princess royal in farnborough but am hopefully going to persuade the midwives at my booking in tomorrow to let me have a homebirth.

I have read that if the cheese is heated up to 160 degrees then the bacteria that causes listeria is killed, however if you eat warmed brie/camembert in restaurants they usually just warm it up which is not enough to kill the bacteria. Hope that helps.

xx

spraklynewthing · 07/03/2007 12:54

Thanks very much, Hope. Can't wait either. Am going a bit stir crazy waiting now, but won't be long. I will definitely keep in touch and tell you what they say. Fingers crossed. Was thinking for a while that I had been imagining the whole pg thing, but in the last couple of days my belly has popped out a little bit and it is harder getting into my jeans. So hopefully they will at least see a baby!

kinki · 07/03/2007 13:39

Hello ladies. I've been quiet for a while, because I've been feeling crap, but just lately I've been feeling much, much better.

Anyone else been as pre-occupied as me as to whether your expecting a girl or a boy? I really don't have a preference, but I am so desperate to know! And I'm so excited thinking about all the names I like. I'm driving dh mad.

I get annoyed about people who assume I want a girl, as I have 2 ds's. Just this morning someone said "congratulations, your dh told me you're expecting. You're obviously desperate for a girl this time aren't you?". "Well, no actually I'm not", I said, "my 2 boys are fab, so if a get a 3rd, I'll be over the moon. And I'll be just as happy with a little girl." To which she said "well I would have thought you'd want a girl this time". Aaarrrggghhh. Anyone else get this? Are we all going to find out about the sex, or can some of us bear to wait? My first was a surprise, second I found out and I'll be asking with this one.

Hope the nuchal scans go well for those who are having them, and all the other tests etc pending. Although I'm older, I've decided to skip all the tests except the blood test at 16 weeks.

Good luck to us all as we coast into the blooming phase.

MrsMar · 07/03/2007 14:29

Hello all, I hope everyone is well....

Isn't morning sickness wierd? I keep thinking I'm over it and then wham! I get another bout. Just walking over to my sisters yesterday brought it on, and now I've just finished my lunch and feel sick again, felt fine before! Doh!

Holly - I've got my scan tomorrow, am bricking it. I'm having a nuchal; as I'm an old fart I think it's routinely offered in my area. I read an article in the times yesterday about positive thinking and how it can actually get results (think yourself rich anyone?) so I'm trying to think like that, and picture myself with a healthy happy, relaxed baby in 6 months time! I hope yours goes well.

Hopeitwontbebig - what an amazing nuchal result!!! Lucky you, so nice to know you are able to sit back and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

canadianmum - how did your scan go? Good I hope.

Health and happiness to all xx

MMooMar · 07/03/2007 15:49

Hi Everyone,
just thought I would have a look and see how everyone is getting on.
I`ve gone back to feeling really tired and the headaches have started too( great!).

Kinki,I suppose I will have to go through that when I eventually tell people as I already have a DS but like you I am not bothered what pops out (providing it is a baby of course !)I didnt bother finding out the sex last time so wont this time either,I like the suprise bit.

Got my first lot of bloods on the 14th of March and have my scan on Friday ,its not a nuchal ,just a dating scan, not worried about it,though probably will be on the day.Last time I was so relieved to see him appear on the screen as I think we all go through "what if theres nothing there when they scan me" thing.

Mrsmar,It will be great tomorrow,It`s a fantastic thing to see.Are you going on your own or will someone be with you?
Let us know how you get on .

atalantis · 07/03/2007 16:27

Just back from my dating scan. It was wonderful! Baby was dancing and opening and closing his/her mouth (maybe singing?!). I'm a week further on than I thought I was 12+2, not 11+2. This is odd, as it fits the date for a 28 day cycle, but my cycle was always really long often as much as 40 days. Anyway, it's truly fantastic to see that there's a baby in there even when there's no bump. Good luck to all those who have scans in the next few days.

Holly29 · 07/03/2007 16:28

MrsMar,

I'm an old fart too for a first pg, and I think you're right, we just need to think lots of positive thoughts. I'm having a nuchal too - was offered to me, no questions asked. I will SO be with you there in spirit and have my fingers crossed for you. Please post when you get back.

I totally agree re?: MS. I was so over it last week and then this week I am so back on it, feeling sick every day (mind you, also eating massive amounts). The weirdest thing is that I have started feeling more tired than ever - I'm a regular 9.30pm to bed girl these days.

Does anyone worry about being just too exhausted/sick to feel/look sexy? My DH is a sweetheart and would never tell me I looked like a lump, but at the mo all I want to do is sit in my pyjamas and am worried he is thinking that I might turn into Britney Spears post-babies...

Holly29 · 07/03/2007 16:29

atalantis

I am so delighted for you! It's so nice getting all this good news in. I think yours sounds like he/she is going to be a popstar!

Hey all. Have not posted in a few days as had some bad news. Went for 12 week scan last fri and there was no heart beat, and baby had stopped developing at 8 weeks. Went into hospital at weekend for an 'evacuation' (horrid, horrid term). My partner is being wonderful and understanding but this hurts incredibly.
Please can someone remove me from the list. Best of luck everyone else with your babies, I will be thinking of you all.

MMooMar · 07/03/2007 17:05

Oh EllieG,I am so sorry ,I have taken your name off the list as requested.
