Vegan I'm so glad you mentioned the FB group. I look forward to that starting up!

Sixisthemagicnumber · 01/11/2016 11:42

joy some places only Offer abdominal scans (if it is a private scan) which is why they state only from 7+ weeks. I had an internal scan at the EPU last week when I was 6+2 and it was very clear and not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I imagined it to be like a smear test but it was nowhere near as bad. The internal camera is like a very slim dildo and the sonographer just inserted it without even looking. It wasn't at all painful. The only thing was that it was very warm which I presume was the light on the camera.

Joy388 · 01/11/2016 11:57

Six & Annakd - thanks so much for this info, really good to know that it's not as bad as a smear.

I'll pluck up the courage and let them do internal if needed at the weekend. Really hoping for a positive result this time!

Just had my booking appt, i was in there an hour!! She took bloods and mauled my arm to pieces!! Shock

I've been told the bleed isn't an SCH, which is the more common bleed. But the midwife seemed very calm about it which has made me feel a bit better. She said it's a good pregnancy and we just have to watch the random bleed in my uterus.

She didn't say anything about the pain though which gets worse if i exert myself. She said i didn't need to take it easy but i think I will carry on being a bit careful.
12 week scan booked for 22 Nov. Eek i hope i get that far and it's a good result Hmm
Looking forward to the Facebook group (once I'm 12 wks) , it's hard keeping up with the thread!!

Mommytobe2017 · 01/11/2016 13:07

I've been having mild cramping today and I felt a little sick this morning.

Only a week now till booking in appt Grin

8!

MundayCakes85 · 01/11/2016 13:30

Booking appointment this morning, got bloods next week then hopefully get the letter with date of the 12 week scan soon.
Just told my Nan- she was excited, especially as baby 2 is due around my Gramps' b'day (he died a few months ago) Will tell parents next!
9 weeks today Smile

Walkerbean16 · 01/11/2016 14:22

Hi everyone, can I join you all? I've been reading the thread but have just registered to Mumsnet so I can join in.

EDD is around the 1/6/17, this will be my third, I have a DS9 and a DD6, we had been trying for a year for this one, decided it wasn't going to happen and booked a huge holiday to Florida for next August and then I got a BFP!

I had my booking in last week, now just waiting for my scan date, would love an early scan but they are £100 here, I wonder why it differs so much?

Hope you're all well today Smile

Walkerbean16 · 01/11/2016 14:22

Oops sorry 9+5 (I think!)

MumofthreeandBean · 01/11/2016 14:49

Welcome walker early scans are £100 here too so I'm waiting but not patiently!!

furryminkymoo · 01/11/2016 15:02

I have my booking next Tuesday when I will be 9 weeks, do they listen for the heart beat?

I had a craving earlier, Greggs Bean and Sausage slice, I haven't had one since I was pregnant with DD 4 years ago, it was lush.

Walkerbean16 · 01/11/2016 15:09

Hi mumofthree! I know what you mean about not being patient Grin

At my booking in my midwife said I'd be consultant led this time due to (sorry if tmi!) third degree tears during both my last labours and a big baby last time (10lb ouch) does anyone know what will be different?

Walkerbean16 · 01/11/2016 15:11

They usually listen to the heartbeat at the 16 week appointment furry booking in is filling in forms and blood tests etc.

JunebabyT · 01/11/2016 15:19

Ah walker are you still going on your holiday or had to cancel? We booked our honeymoon to New Zealand and Australia just a few days before we found out and had to cancel it which was a bit gutting, especially as we haven't told people so some keep asking about the honeymoon! Should have tested before booking really but I thought it was going to take months Blush We will do that holiday one day!

Re 12 week scans, how much input are you getting on the dates or are they just coming pre-determined by letter? Asking as I'll be working away for a few days during week 12...

HazyHazyJeans · 01/11/2016 15:26

furry they're usually pretty reluctant to try to listen to the heartbeat before at least 16 weeks as it can be difficult to find and cause undue distress.

I've eaten nothing but rubbish today. I really need to get my diet sorted out Confused

HazyHazyJeans · 01/11/2016 15:26

Welcome walker!

NappingRabbit · 01/11/2016 15:31

Junebaby my date came by letter with a note to call them to reschedule if I couldn't attend.

MumofthreeandBean · 01/11/2016 16:07

walker consultant led here too x
Large babies are my reason, basically you see a consultant at the first scan, discuss your options for an easier birth - i.e. No 3rd degree tears and they keep an eye on baby size with growth scans throughout pregnancy.
Last time I was offered an early induction but due to maternity unit being full I ended up being left to go 10 days over and ended up with a 10.3lb baby! They thought he was more 8 lb from the last scan I had.
This time I might opt for c section, unless I can be induced early - not that I trust them!!

Masweetpea1 · 01/11/2016 16:30

Consultant led here too. Due prev c section as my daughter was breech x

Sixisthemagicnumber · 01/11/2016 16:45

mumofthree and walker I've had 3 babies and two of them were fairly big - 9lb 11oz and 9lb 13oz. I am hoping to consider a home birth this time (if I can convince DH) so I am really worried that given my previous babies sizes and my age (wrong side of 35) I will be consultant led and have to have a hospital birth. I'm really hoping the fact that all 3 births have been under 3 hours from start of labour to finish will go in my favour but I'm not too hopeful.

MumofthreeandBean · 01/11/2016 17:05

six it is your decision at the end of the day, they can only advise. Just listen to what they have to say.
I imagine if you didn't tear and needed no help in the way of epidural, pethidine etc then they can't say no?!
3 hr labours!! Lucky you! My shortest was the last one which was 6 hrs and induced

MoonlightMojitos · 01/11/2016 17:25

joy I've had internal scans they're nothing to worry about honestly but they usually only do them at the epu. My one at 5+2 was internal as far too early to see anything otherwise (baby was 2.5mm!!!) The one yesterday was a regular abdominal one (baby now 25mm!) But like other say you still need a VERY full bladder to push it up enough to see. Most private places are abdominal ones which is why you need to wait until after 7ish week :)

Just wanted to quickly answer your question before I shoot off tonight so will try and catch up tomorrow with everyone else!!

Maxcat12 · 01/11/2016 17:33

At last had my dating scan letter today......21st November.
Cannot wait, am a bag of nerves and not telling anyone....so hard keeping it hush hush.
Love the scan picture in post above!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 01/11/2016 17:57

Consultant-led here too. I'm fat and mad, and had complications when DS was born. I will feel safer being on the labour ward after last time.

I've just decided I want fruit pastilles. I haven't had any for years. Looks like a trip to tesco on my lunch break Grin

I was worried incase I need an internal exam but thank goodness it doesn't sound that bad. My smear was really painful... Sad

Anyway I'm still starving. Starting to feel a bit icky when I'm too hot but other than that I'm freezing and ok

Off to get dinner sorted. Enjoy your evenings Flowers

LollyCake · 01/11/2016 19:04

Junebaby Such a shame about your homeymoon! I'm from NZ originally and it's a gorgeous place to visit. I hope you get to go eventually.

I think I'll probably be consultant led although I have yet to book my midwife appointment Blush I have no memory since having DS and I just forget everything. I might put a reminder in my phone for tomorrow.

For those asking about cloth nappies, I used The Nappy Lady website and Babipur to buy all mine. Both have good facebook groups where you can ask questions and the nappy lady has a questionnaire you can fill out. DH is a bit funny about second hand clothes (it's a cutural thing) let alone second hand nappies so I bought all mine new. I plan to sell them after we're done though.

I've had such a rough day today. I've felt sick all day and I've been so incredibly tired. I swear I didn't feel this bad the first time around. I did manage to work back then! Luckily I managed a cheeky nap this afternoon with DS. There has also been a lot of cbeebies on recently!
