Hello! Super quick update - Still feeling pretty awful, but ok. Going to start taking iron tabs and supplements today and hoping that makes a difference. My iron level was 8hb - not good! Pains in back are still pretty bad and I am trying to take it easy - Sooo hard with a 3 yr old and 21m old in tow - Having my friend down for the w/e is a Godsend though - She is lovely and amazing! Lunch and quiet a/n yesterway was good - hoping to go to farm today, doesn't look likely with weather.

Hope everyone else is ok - Thank you for well wishes and hugs - Same back to you all - Saw it was Charnbump's B'day when flicking through - Happy Birthday for yesterday, hope you had a great day!

Will be back sometime soon, just difficult to post etc when you have visitors to entertain - Sue you understnad ....

muminabigtumi · 14/02/2007 08:27

Morning ladies

SOSPL - so sorry to hear you are feeling low, the best thing you can do is talk about it on here as atleast we can all understand - I think it is just too difficult a concept for our DH's to deal with - they just have no way of understanding how complex our emotions are right now. You have toremind yourself that you are doing an AMAZING job! You are working, looking after Becky, running a home, buying a car - and probably a million other things we know nothing about - pregnancy with another child is so much more draining (not meaning to take away from you first timers at all) you just don't get the opportunity to recharge and relax liek the first time round so it is only natural that you are going to have these periods of feeling so crappy.
I feel for you that you dread the movements as I actualy find them reassuring and found that last time I kind of missed them when they had gone but everyone is different and it can't be easy if they are getting you down. I think if I were you I would try and schedule some "you" time when becky is at preschool - book a facial or go and have a coffee and read a book for a few hours or even just have a kip. I found that last week just that one afternoon at the hairdressers really helped to relax me and turn my mood round. We are ALWAYS here hun whenever you need to vent hug

CD - thank god your ok - I was lying in bed thinking about you last night, you rest up and we understand completley that you have visitors and need to rest, just really grateful you could let us know your alright.

I am tired this morning - Phil is off work as he was up from 3am last night with a very upset stomach so from 3 am onwards I was awake till James gotup at 6 sigh ....kind of getting used to this no sleep malarkey now! lol

8 and a half and runny - YIKES re the strong Braxton Hicks....must have been a bit scary!

Right off to sew up my maternity trousers....having a crisis as my maternity work trousers have a massive hole in the crotch which I discovered after work on Monday! Need to fix them as not worth buying a new pair now. Also my maternity jeans are al frayed at the elastic bit....again will just have to make do - not buying anything else now!

Catch you all later

xxx

muminabigtumi · 14/02/2007 08:29

oooh yeah - Happy Valentines Too Ladies!!!

xxxxxooooxxxxx

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 14/02/2007 08:29

Morning all, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

Did we all get spoilt? I had a home made card from dh which was quite sweet - he always makes ones for me.

Feel a lot better today, probably due to the fact that I slept like a log until 7.30. It makes such a difference. Also had a good weep last night and told dh how I felt. He just listened and cuddled and didn't try and comment, as he knows he cannot begin to understand how we all feel. Love him.

8 1/2 weeks - how was your night?

CD, glad you are on the mend my love.

Hope everyone else is ok today. xx

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 14/02/2007 08:38

WO, and MiABT, thank you for your kind words.
MIABT, you are so wise!! I felt awful complaining about feeling so much movement, as I know there are many who worry that they don't feel enough movements. I said that to dh last night.

Sorry Phil is unwell. I hope for your sake it's food poisoning and not a bug! That's all you need isn't it?!

weeonion · 14/02/2007 08:58

you lucky ladis getting cards / gifts! loved th idea of dh making a card - awwwwwwww.

there has not been a mention of st v day here. dp likes to fall into "bah, humbug, commerical nonsense" camp when it suits so nothing likely either. have bought him a book and made a card to emabrass him on his return.... It's a bit all picture and no sound here between us - stress with no time left to get this place sorted and his lack of urgency/ priority for anything that is baby related and erquires his planning effort. ah well. will blow over i am sure!

Katy44 · 14/02/2007 09:34

Do you think I should start another due in April thread saying "Pesha, zazas, if you're there please say a quick hello"
or do you think that's too intrusive?

weeonion · 14/02/2007 09:36

not sure katy - i think if they were about - they would drop us a quick post to let us know things were ok........

maveta · 14/02/2007 09:40

Grrrr... feeling very annoyed and powerless. There are 2 dogs that have been abandoned in the house opposite my office, apparently (according to a neighbour) because their owner has been taken to prison. She told me this on Monday and they had been alone 4 days by this point. I called the Animal protection society who said they can't do anything and that I had to speak to the local police. I called them and they said they'd look into it. Monday p.m. no one had gone so I called again and they said they couldn't really say what stage the issue was at but they would look into it. I wasn't in the office yesterday but have come in today and now the shutters are shut so I can't see if the dogs are in there or not. They could be shut from the wind as I can see they are not locked so this doesn't mean someone has been. It would now be a week that they are alone with no food or water. I called the police again and they said that as it's a new shift they can't tell me if anything happened on a previous shift!!!!!! She said if I hear anything to let them know but I pointed out that if the dogs have not eaten or drunk for a week they are unlikely to be barking much. She said of course they would as they'd be so hungry!!!

She's now told me to call the National police as they can't do anymore to help me! And they aren't answering their phone!

flumppootle · 14/02/2007 09:47

Happy Valentines

Sospl sorry that you are feeling so low. You should maybe think about getting your iron levels checked. Low iron can make you feel like crap at this stage. Loved the sound of your card.
We exchanged cards this morning and have a candlelit dinner sorted for tonight when the scallywags go to bed. I cant wait.
The girls are very excited about their valentines disco later today and were discussing what they should wear over breakfast, so cute.
CD enjoy your guests and take it easy.
Miabt how's the sewing going? Is your dh feeling any better?
WO, sounds stressful for you trying to get sorted. Hope your dh suprises you later.
Blimey 8.5 weeks how do you cope with the lack of sleep?
It is worrying about Pesha, her little boy was poorly when she last posted. Hope that he is okay. When did zazas last post?

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 14/02/2007 09:50

WO, sorry dp hasn't come up with the St V goods - perhaps he will surprise you later on??

Maveta, what a frustrating situation - you are obviously a real animal lover too. I really hope it gets sorted. I get the impression that a lot of countries don't have the same views on animals, in that they are just animals iyswim.

flumppootle · 14/02/2007 09:51

Maveta that sounds awful. Really dont know what to suggest

Katy44 · 14/02/2007 09:53

weeonion, I think you're right - and I don't want to overreact or scaremonger.

maveta that's awful - it would really upset me. This might be a stupid suggestion, but could you call the prison and ask them to notify someone in the owner's family? Although you'd think that would have happened.

maveta · 14/02/2007 10:03

Well I spoke to the national police and they said they'll send someone round to see me but 'probably can't offer me a solution'. Everyone is just completely passing the buck, it's pathetic.

I don't know the owner's name so I can't call the prison, the national police says it rings a bell that someone was taken away from that address last week but he could be home by now. Fine, but how come they can't tell me that i.e. they've looked into my complaint, found the owner to now be at home, complaint resolved.

Morons

muminabigtumi · 14/02/2007 10:10

Well thats the gaping hole in my pants sewn up!

SOSPL - glad you are feeling a bit brighter today - I know that sleep definatley makes a big difference to how I feel...as for wise...well I'm not sure about that (Phil says I'm full of sh*t lol) but I hope I helped a wee bit!

Bless DH making a card - how lovely... Weeonion -grr at DH and his commercial nonsense...there are so many non commercial things he could do...men love to kop out don't they!!

James and I have just made Phil some dry toast cut into heart shapes to see if he can stomach that...poor thing! Looks like I will be eating my Valentines Chilli on my own tonight. I said I'd make him a boiled egg if he was feeling better later! lol

Maveta - at the dogs - I would be like you and be beside myself....you have done more than many would already it must be very upsetting for you, don't really know what to suggest - is it a privately owned building or could you maybe find out who owns it and if they have access??

It is worrying about Pesha and Zazas...I am sure there will be an explanation like lack of Internet access or something as they would know we would worry about them. Just hope they are ok..don't think there is much else we can do if we have CAT'd them also...

Had an email this morning from my friend that lives down in Dorset, she had an early pregnancy scare over the weekend but had an early scan yesterday and saw the heartbeat and all looked ok - was so releived....those early worrying days are just so horrible - they do seem like a dim and distant memory now...

Well I best go get dressed. Bless James he is singing away in the living room to himself....can't wait till they are both singing away together!

Catch you later
x

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 14/02/2007 10:38

Maveta, sounds like you have done as much as you can do sweetheart. Hopefully something will come of your efforts.

MIABT, love the idea of heart shaped toast - how romantic! Hope Phil is ok. Did you both have the pasta dish that was cooked for you?

Andrej always makes me cards - he made me one at Christmas with lots of photos of him, Becky and me on. And he always writes the most lovely messages inside - not just the garbage in some of the cards you can buy. Saying that I bought a card, but all it said was I love you - nice and simple and to the point!!

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 14/02/2007 10:42

Thanks for the info MIABT..I am having an elective section too.Feel nervous...didn't really have time to with ds1 as i was knackered and had had an epidural so was whisked to theatre.Blood pressure dropped tho'.That might have been cos i had been in labour for 17 hours and was knackered!
Hope you are being careful CD!
I am opposite to you SOSPL.i love the movement feeling and feel anxious when it stops! With you on the not being able to move very fast and limited as to what i can do..v.frustrating isn't it?
Also heartily fed up with people who don't even know me that well commenting on my size.Suddenly people are experts on how big i should be at this stage...i just tell em that ds was 9lb 10 and maybe this one will be a similar size.I am not even as big as i was with ds.
My jack russell has gone to the vets today to be neutered..it was awful watching them take his lead and lead him away...had a cry in the car.
Look after yourselves today ladies.I will change back to nickname but it seems too much effort at the moment.
Happy Valentinesxxxx

GirtWaspbElly · 14/02/2007 10:48

Hi All,

Belated birthday wishes Charnbump!
And you keep those feet firmly UP CD!

SOL - You don't know how impressed I've been with you - with Becky & working too - I feel I've completely handed over responsibility for Cameron by working FT and having im at a childminders, but he loves it and I go bonkers at home as he's only just now getting better at playing by himself and not needing my constant attention. TBH it's the thing that worries me most about having to stop work completely as can't afford childcare for 2. Has meant that I've been getting really grumpy with dh about coming home & watching telly whilst I do tea for everyone & get the boy to bed....he's been an angel this morning with cup of tea in bed accompanied by card, flowers and chocolate!

I ended up labouring in the nuddy as couldn't bear any clothing on (too hot/uncomfortable - but it was a heatwave) Mind you, I've never really been all that keen on wearing clothes - I blame the eczema! I've a cheap & stretchy nightie for should I need one, and 2 "Broderie Anglaise" type for looking flushed and maternal in - I can dream on!

Everybody says I look really big, which is a bit worrying - but I'm measuring just fine - go figure.
Amazingly though my appetite has really dropped off - I'm mainly eating to stop the reflux at the moment! I'm feeling reasonably energetic most of the day - just really dip at about 6pm when all the boys' stuff need doing.
All the plans I'm making about painting our bedroom/going on a train visit to my folks up in Manchester when I go on ML seem like forever away - hard to believe I'm 7 weeks to drop-zone!

nuttygirl · 14/02/2007 10:48

MIABT- lol @ hole introuser

SOSPL - glad you are feeling a bit better today. DHs cards sound fab!

CD - hope you're taking things easy.

Hello to everyone else - sorry I haven't mentioned you all but my mind has gone a bit blank!

Got a really nice card from DH this morning, he always writes such nice things in them! Getting my pressie this evening, not a surprise though - he's got me an eternity ring (he told me cos he wasn't sure it would get resized in time for today and then showed me it cos the one I liked they couldn't do in my size but tbh I can't see any difference between that one and the one he's bought!). Feel a bit bad cos I've got him a £10 wallet but I am cooking for him tonight - rainbow trout with potatoes veg, then choc truffle cheesecake for desert (although I cheated and bought that )

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 14/02/2007 10:50

Dooby, hugs to your wee dog. I remember our cats going in to be "done". When they came back they were still a bit woozy bless them, and they had to kind of sit at an angle as they were obviously a bit sore. A bit like the feeling after an episiotomy I imagine!

Off to Gym Tots shortly, so a 40 minute break and an opportunity to chat to the other mums - hurrah!

See you later. xx

nuttygirl · 14/02/2007 10:57

On the nightie front, I've got a couple from Mothercare with buttons down front (in the sale) and for the labour I've got one of DHs t-shirts...bit of a silly sentimental thing tho cos it's the t-shirt I used to wear at home during uni holidays when we were apart.

I really must start getting stuff more sorted. Have a cupboard to paint in spare room which I'm hoping to do at the weekend but whether it gets done is another matter! Also our shower is knackered...it's been on its way out for ages (something wrong with the dial on it) but is no longer switching off - there's a constant dribble from it. It's also making my bath cold cos the water dribbles into the bath. We're gonna try and get a new one on Sat...hoping DH doesn't electrocute himself trying to fit it

Bramshott · 14/02/2007 11:20

Morning!

Wasn't online yesterday as DH and I went out for a lovely valentines / pre-baby lunch . Also stopped at Mothercare on the way and got various bits and pieces so I'm feeling quite organised now.

Thanks for all of your helpful comments about nursery time for DD. Pleased I'm not the only one worrying about this! I've decided to keep her off completely on Fridays, and send her all day Monday, then Tues, Wed & Thurs mornings, on the basis that if Monday all day is too much, we can always drop it later, and I might be grateful for it in the early days. Would also mean I could go out to lunch without DD on a Monday (with DH for example) if I wanted to. Think I have to get over my guilt at her going to nursery when I'm not working, and remember that actually 2.5 hours on a morning is not ages, and by the time I've dropped her, fed the baby, put a wash on etc, it will be time to pick her up again! And if the baby sleeps in the morning, it will give me time to do the gardening! Realise that I am very lucky to have the choice, and those with younger elder children don't.

Hope you're all are doing okay today with the aches, pains, sleepless nights etc etc!
