Hi everyone, new thread...apologies for sorry attempt at poetry

How rude they are!! How dare they say Cath is passe, do they have any taste? Clearly not!

I agree with you K1K2 on the Primark front! I've been there a few times, but usually the queue is so long I get fed up and leave! They are brilliant though for plain tops and jumpers. I bought a lovely jumper there for £6 and two really nice wrap dresses for £3 and £5. People always comment on them and are really surprised when I say where they're from. Most of their kids clothes are truly hideous though!! Think nylon coats with fur trim and velour tracksuits, really chav! Maybe I'm just more fussy about what dd wears than what I wear!

hollyandalice · 15/02/2007 14:24

Oooo Doodle-Do is on CBeebies! Quite fancy Chris, he's fit (even though he's Welsh)!!

sputnik · 15/02/2007 14:35

But what do I know, I LIKE the Baby Bjorn bouncer in black, precisely because it's black. Sooo tasteful. I think we just have opposite tastes Lilkel

hollyandalice · 15/02/2007 14:39

Maybe I'm the one with no taste!! I'm a very pink and sparkly kinda girl so Cath's flowers just hit all the right spots!

kiwinat · 15/02/2007 14:45

Is anyone not getting cravings? I feel disappointed and left out and was looking forward to all the wacky food combinations I could send DH out in the middle of the night to find!

MagicGenie · 15/02/2007 17:44

Another lightening sign-in from me - - sorry!

21 + 3 today and had second scan. All seems well; placenta lying low though, as with DS, and baby currently lying feet down so need another scan at 34 weeks.

I really hope it turns!

Didn't ask to see the sex...going for the surprise.

Hope you're all well xx.

notsolilKel · 15/02/2007 19:34

Hello - Sputnik, it's funny, in theory I'd like a black chair - despite my liking for occasional Cath items, my taste is not pure hearts & flowers!! I just think black is a bit, well, black for a baby girl somehow. Especially in summer. I dunno.

Plus all the milk sick would show up a treat...

but what bothers me most about the Bjorn chair are those wooden bears. I mean, how uncuddly can you get?

Cravings: cheese!! If you don't have 'em, count yourself lucky. I just read yet another article reminding me how you're not supposed to eat more till the 3rd trimester. Best go stuff that empty Doritos bag further into the bin so I don't see it peeking out at me next time I go to throw something out...

Well done MagicGenie, mine is standing upright too, but have not been offered a further scan . Is yours clodhopping all over your bladder and cervix too?

Talking about Goddess Cath, would someone give me an honest opinion on this wallpaper/lamp set?

www.cathkidston.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=2-11-10-1&cid=Wallpaper&pcidl=&language=en-GB#

I love it, but everyone else I have shown it to hates it. I am convinced I am having a boy so it would be perfect. It's only a tiny room so I would do just one wall.

doggus · 15/02/2007 20:14

KiwiNat - I don't know if I am having cravings as such as I haven't sent dh to the late night petrol station yet but I NEED:

Licorice tablets (only available from old fashioned sweet shop ten miles away)
Marmite
Cadbury's Mini Eggs
M&S Wensleydale with Cranberries
Crinkle Cut McCain's Oven Chips

hollyandalice · 15/02/2007 20:21

Love the cowboy theme doggus! It's really cool and retro and would last longer than a more babyish theme.

hollyandalice · 15/02/2007 20:28

Lilkel have you checked out this ?
The Babybjorn one is cheaper than most places and the Chicco ones are quite cool.

KDRacey · 15/02/2007 20:43

Hey shopperholics. Just a quickie. Boots on line have got 70% off some of their nursery accessories for those looking for a bargin or two. Any excuse to add a bit more to DH's card!!!

Kiwi, I'm lacking in the cravings department too . Have gone off so much stuff and was hoping to make up for it!!!!!

notsolilKel · 15/02/2007 20:49

Oh yes, Kiddicare are definitely great. Always best prices... I just am having a hard time with this black thing. I will try to get over it, but I'm just not loving it...keep imagining teeny baby girl in something like this and get all gooey inside thinking about it...harrumph.

Cowboys are soooo little boy. It would be great. I mean, did you ever hear a little boy say "oh I love my pale blue wallpaper with stars, puppies, and hippos on it?" No, they all want to be cowboys!! I'm such a hippocrite, I know. Pushing my (unborn) little girl into a squishy pink chair when she'll probably enjoy the chicness of the Bjorn Black Thing.

Oh dear oh dear.

Seansgirl · 15/02/2007 21:06

Lilkel, just checked out your Cath request. What is wrong with some people? How rude and dismissive !

hollyandalice · 15/02/2007 21:13

If I were you lilkel I would go for pink and squishy!! You may only get to do the girly thing once and you might as well do it properly!

Cocobear · 16/02/2007 09:52

Lilkel, I know what you mean about the baby bouncy chairs. My SIL lent me one for DS that Mothercare stopped making years ago, and it was perfect. Light, adjustable, navy blue, tough carry handles, the works. There's nothing like it on the market now! I never know what retailers are thinking.

Speaking of which, just emailed Mothercare to find out they've discontinued their Citilite pushchair, one of the best little urban strollers around (I should know, I once had to review dozens for an article). I was going to buy one of those. Now must search Kiddicare for suitable replacement. Rrrrrrrrrrr.

Have found an adorable little carry cot on Vertbaudet, though, complete with SPF 50 sunshade and mossie net. Perfect for the tropics.

Hi guys! Good to see you've been busy for the past few days! Had a lovely time in Cotswolds, although had a pregnancy massage and I have to say: not wild about the pregnancy massage table with a hole in the middle. Firstly, it makes your back arch because your bump isn't really supported, and secondly, you kind of have to fit your boobs into the hole, too (even my small ones are agony to lie flat on), which means that the head 'hole' is in the wrong place and you end up with your neck at an awkward angle. Massage lovely, but not so great when you have worse back ache afterwards than before...
Re. food cravings and over-eating, I had an idea while I was away. If bean is very mobile (mine won't stop kicking and somersaulting), surely he/she must be using up additional calories, which he/she gets from you. Therefore, you need to eat more. I actually started to take this a bit further and wonder if I could get bean to do aerobics for me; I could just lie on the sofa whilst he burns off my tub of Ben and Jerry's. DH thought there might be a business opportunity in there somewhere...
Doggus, LOVE the wallpaper. I got the circus elephant fabric for a blind and it looks gorgeous. Lilkel, Cath's critics are just bitter, twisted people who can't see that cowboys, elephants and spotty bags cheer the soul.
And now I'd better do some work...

mytwocents · 16/02/2007 13:20

Had 21 wk scan!!!!!!!! Did'nt realise how anxious was about it until had a temper tantrum in the car park cos did'nt have the right change ..........Think I'd listened to too many horror stories from collegues lately - Anyway - All is well, Phew! Baby's head is down-could move though- and all the measurements are normal HOORAY! *
might interest those who's baby's are feet down; a girl in my yoga class who's 28 wks just managed to turn hers round.......Don't know how easy this is , or common.
interesting bouncy chair debate, not thought about it yet although will prob get sisters old one, do you reckon those mothercare detatchable parasols will clip on it?
Laughed alot at 'old woman oofing' I cannot bend down without grunting or do my boots up without much swearing, getting out of the car is a real struggle! Very funny looks from the neighbors as I huff and puff my way out.
Thanks for reassurance and humour re bad mum dream, love this thread. Had funny one last night where i did'nt leave the baby but I was'nt feeding her just expressing all this milk and putting it in bottles in the fridge..............I had one of those 'medela swing' portable expressor thingy and was just wandering about filling up bottle after bottle.
One more thing I MISS SUSHI!!!!!!!!!!Sorry, just had to get that out there.
Off to primark later for some therapy, peace xx

notsolilKel · 16/02/2007 13:58

Mytwocents, LOL at the expressing dream...and I thought my dreams were odd...

Marylou welcome back, I've also found pg massage to be somewhat of a letdown. There are just very few ways to be comfortable at this stage and lying on one's back or tummy are defo out of the question!! If they could massage you whilst you curl up on your side, that would be grand.

Still debating this stupid bouncer chair thing with myself. I've got a cute, light, unadjustable option , a cute, heavier, adjustable option with nature sounds , or a less cute, bigger, adjustable option with carry handles & canopy . All 3 vibrate. Lucky girl .

VOTES?

OMG, PMSL at this thread..."precious" first born moments

a couple of favourites:

I recall being panic-stricken when we took ds1 home from hospital because it was raining a little and he got a few drops on his face. Dh was so mean because he refused to call the doctor.

The best one I've ever heard is from a friend with five children. She said that after her first she realised it actually wasn't necessary to spend hours pureeing banana through a tea strainer.

Yes I remember asking the midwife if there was anything we should be doign to stimulate ds, he was about 9 days old.
To her credit she didn't phsl

LOL Lilkel!! And can see myself doing most of them, too... (apart, obviously, from ironing babygrows. Have been with DH for over eight years and have never ironed one of his shirts. It's just not my skillset ). In terms of bouncy chairs, my favourite is the second one, for what it's worth. Looks nice and seems practical, too. Why is it that every time I read one of your posts, you introduce me to yet another website where I can buy stuff ?

Seansgirl · 16/02/2007 15:21

Whahahey! Its here! Its here! my beautiful cath hospital bag (my late bday pressie from DBs) has finally arrived! Hooray! My Dad apparently said "What on earth does she want that hideous thing for?" tsk tsk Father! I make no aplogies for my excitement re. my oh so NOT NOW or NOT IN or Passe bag! I love it and thats all that matters!

Have to say tho it has taken two weeks to arrive and thats after my DM has chased it about 3 times! Bad customer service thumbs down! Get it sorted Cath! But BIG thumbs up to Monsoon - arrived this morning in less than 48 hours! Girly pink flip flops for my cath bag and a gorgeous skirt for DD just slipped in too!

Lilkel, definately the first option on the bouncers, looked very snug. Think the third one looked a bit of a monster? But of course your choice!

Looking forward to weekend DD starts first Ballet and Tap lesson tomorrow am very excited! How sweet are they all going to look!

notsolilKel · 16/02/2007 15:48

Marylou, I am only here to help

Thanks for the votes, ladies, keep 'em coming please. I've become so entwined in worries about selecting the perfect bouncer chair that I no longer use any other part of my brain...

Seansgirlwhich bag is it? I mistakingly bought dp a new, extra large holdall the other day for when he goes away with work (he uses his old one for football and now it smells of feet!!), so am gonna have to use that for my hosp bag! Am not planning on going to hosp, but have to pack one just in case. I spose if I'm not going to have a new hosp bag then I need to have a new changing bag!! It's only fair!! Good luck for your dd at dancing! How old is she? My little princess is only 21 months and can't wait for her to go. I can see myself turning into dance crazed loony pushy mother!

Lilkel I like the Pretty in Pink one best, sooo girly and soft. Imagine your new little angel asleep in it awwww!!!!

Glad you had a lovely time Marylou and pmsl at the massage table! Didn't even know such tables existed!

Hi everyone, don't get the chance to come on here too often so i'm not very up to date with the gossip.
Just wondering if any of you are happy to disclose your pregnancy weight gain so far, as I have just been weighed for the first time since I fell pregnant and was shocked to see I have put on 23lbs and I'm only 24 weeks, Is this normal? I have an awful feeling its well over what i should be.

Just interested in comparisons, although realize there is little I can do about it now!
