I had pain for bloody ages after the birth but I was able to stop using the crutches straight away, it improved enormously. And I could walk about, push a pram,
roll over in bed etc. I was unlucky too, I don't know anyone else who continued to have pain for as long as I did and even I was hill walking within two years!

OrianaBanana · 07/10/2016 10:33

Worried about movement now. The kicks and thumps have mostly stopped, we have had some rolling and stretching for the last few days. I'm 30 weeks today, is this normal do you think? I'm just drinking a cold can of Coke at work and I'll see if she responds.

StubbleTurnips · 07/10/2016 10:38

Oriana if you're concerned always ring maternity triage, our one is brilliant.

Report
billabye · 07/10/2016 10:52

Oriana I think the movements do change as there is less room but maybe not at as early as 30 weeks. Id definitely go and get things checked out.

I've just had a growth scan and all looks good. Estimated weight of 3.9 pounds at 30+4. Baby no longer transverse but breech instead so at least we know she is able to move around in there. I saw a different consultant this time and she was lovely. Very reassuring about what might happen with fast labour and previous pph. She did say if I am very anxious they would consider early induction. Will see how I feel.

OrianaBanana · 07/10/2016 11:14

OK thanks, I called them and I'm going along now (Coke hasn't done much). I'm a bit worried about being thought of as a hysterical pregnant lady, but I suppose I'd rather that than there actually being something to worry about!

Report
SolomanDaisy · 07/10/2016 11:33

I'm sure they'd much rather you called oriana. It sounds like the baby may be facing your back, I feel more stretches than kicks when that happens! Good luck.

Report
Bumplovin · 07/10/2016 11:35

oriana I mainly get rolls now throughout the day, the kicks are much less

Nojo82 · 07/10/2016 11:56

Good for you oriana but kniw how you feel about them thinking of you being hysterical. I was the same when i went in. Ended up being there for a week.

Im getting loads of kicks, mostly on my bladder. So assuming baby isnt engaged yet but its still early for that. Gosh this little man has def found his feet. Going a bit crazy in there.. :)

Bigfam · 07/10/2016 12:02

OrianaBanana glad you're getting checked, just seen my mw and she said that any change in movements is taken seriously, not to bother contacting her but the number in the notes for the hospital.
I had a trace of protein in my urine, anyone else had this? My bp was fine

Report
Bumplovin · 07/10/2016 12:58

Def agree it's worth getting checked I went on monitor on wed but as soon as they hooked me up she kicked like mad!

Report
Nojo82 · 07/10/2016 13:33

bigfam at one of my appointments i had 2 ++ of lucocytes and trace of protein but they never told me so they mustn't have been concerned but I know from my work that thats the start of an infection. Have had lucocytes every appointment.. i wouldnt worry about a trace of protein, they wont treat it.

Still having loads of discharge. Its getting me down :( will ask consultant on monday. Apparently, from what ive read online it can be an infection and can cause early labour..
Anyone else the same?

OrianaBanana · 07/10/2016 13:34

I've been on the monitor for an hour, the midwife seems satisfied but the machine is not for whatever reason. I was sent off to eat chocolate, now back waiting to be hooked up again - but I'll have to leave by 2.30 as I need to pick up DS... Confused

In the meantime DM has emailed all my sibs telling them I've had to rush to hospital - cue lots of worried texts Hmm

Soloman I used the kruik with dd and it was fine. You wrap it in a blanket and put it at the bottom of the bed, so it's never in direct contact with the baby. I would have been worried about overheating, but the kraamzorg measured her temperature several times during the day to make sure she was OK. We did take her temperature at night too - it was just part of the routine in the end. Had to use a rectal thermometer though - very Dutch! If you find your kraamzorg to be too Dutch you can always request another one. I found the woman who did the induction meeting much more draconian than the actual nurse! For example, we only bought one kruik in the end (you mainly need 2 if you're having a home birth - one warms the baby's clothes, the other the bed).

Report
SolomanDaisy · 07/10/2016 14:12

Thanks Eskerina, that's eased my worries a bit! I've been given all the info relating to home birth because I had a fast labour last time so they think I might end up giving birth at home, so I guess that's why I need two!

Nojo, I've had loads of thick discharge throughout. I haven't mentioned it to anyone because it seems a fairly normal colour! Maybe I should ask too.

Hope the chocolate works oriana.

Report
Eskerina81 · 07/10/2016 14:58

Soloman I ended up with an unexpected home birth, which is how I know what they do with the kruiks - the midwife explained when she found we only had one!

solomon depends what colour it is. Mine is like a thick yellow cottage cheese looking texture and it smells. So not good.

Got my appointment for my 24hr heart monitor. Been feelung good lately tho so it should be ok..

Glad it was all okay, Oriana

Solomon the kramzog sounds gray, wish they had something like that here! Every country does Hingis differently and have their own quirks, I'm Scandinavian, DH is half Russian half Iranian and we live in the UK, so I'm always getting bombarded with conflicting advice and practices for pregnancy, birth and general child up bringing, I tend to just trust my own gut feeling and then often try out different Thubgs from other cultures, I figure, kids in all hear countries live and have good lives, si why not try it Wink that said, I guess I tend to do list things in the Scandinavian way, so completely understand if you'd be worried about somethings. Did adopt the British worry about overheating though, something I haven't found such a worry with in any other country, and was forever checking my first baby's temperature and putting her in grobags, while my sisters baby if the same age was sleeping in PJ's and a sweater under a duvet, her hair soaked from sweat, because my sites was more worried shed catch a cold than overheat! And both kids have been fine Smile

I need advice ladies it's worrying me. I have just been for a growth scan due to excessive fluid with my last pregnancy. However on the scan she commented that the Abdominal Circumstance was on the larger side and just within the normal limit. I have another scan booked for 6weeks. I'm now sat at home worrying and not knowing if I should be worried or not. Thank you for reading.

Report
Bigfam · 07/10/2016 16:54

Could you contact your midwife or ring the maternity unit if it's worrying you? Even if they just reassure you.
I know how you feel though lovewatchingrainfall I don't know if I should be worrying about the protein in my urine, now I'm sat here symptom spotting Confused

Report
Nojo82 · 07/10/2016 16:57

love try not to worry. If they were really concerned you would have been sooner than 6 weeks. Did you have a gtt test? Could be possible that you have gestational diabetes, but im not expert so dont go worrying now ive said that. They would have tested you if they thought that so dont be worrying.. if its really getting you down you should talk to your midwife..

Thank you both. My midwife is a pain to get hold of, I only have an email address for her. I have tried the maternity unit and was told that it is not an emergency so wait till I speak to the midwife not very helpful!

Yes I had the GTT and the results were normal. Think I will just have to wait.

Sorry to hear about the protein BigFam did they send the sample off to be tested?

pop when I say maternity leave I'm thinking of the pre baby bit, I decided to finish early so I could have some time to chill out and destress so had visions of 7 weeks of dog walking and visiting friends, not being confined to the house!! Soloman two years?!?!? I'm hoping to be back walking and cycling within a month afterwards at the very latest, followed by running again when I can restart higher impact exercise, so I really, really hope the pain goes pretty quickly after birth!!
I spoke to work today and was told that the boss would talk to me on Monday when HR woman is back in (she's been on holiday yesterday and today). This pissed me off a bit as I'd just told them how it was affecting me and I essentially had to work a full day at my desk again today (only I didn't as I told them an hour before my finishing time that I was going home as I felt hideous and had been awake since 3am and at work since 7am).

Oriana Good news, glad all was okay :)

nojo not sure how you'd define 'lots' but I get enough discharge that I get through more than one pantyliner a day! It's not like cottage cheese though, more stringy and runny than that.

Bigfam they found a trace in my urine last month but it didn't amount to anything, they said they'd send it for testing and call me if they found an infection, but they didn't and all was okay.

Love I know it's hard, but try and focus on the 'within normal limit' bit. I agree with Nojo, if they had serious concerns you'd be going back sooner than 6 weeks Thanks

Report
SolomanDaisy · 07/10/2016 20:18

barking, mine was an extreme case, I'm sure you'll be pain free long before then. I couldn't cycle for about two years, which was a real pain. I don't think I could have hill walked or done high impact exercise before then either, though I did plenty of normal walking. This time round the physio is coming to do a home assessment within a week of the birth, to hopefully make sure I recover faster. Lots of people find it completely clears up within weeks, particularly if you're not breastfeeding.

Love, I think if it's still within normal and your GTT was clear you should try not to worry. Though it is v difficult!
