Quick question (I think it has been asked before- sorry!) Do I need a full bladder for the 20 week scan or not?
I haven't been told and there is nothing in my notes or the leaflet I was sent. Hopefully as you've all (nearly?) had yours already you'll be able to help.

Shellbell0403 · 07/10/2016 21:07

nasch the amazing news is no full bladder for 20 week scan lol

SBSparkles · 07/10/2016 21:15

Shell I had to have a full bladder for my NHS one but not for private. I think it depends on how snazzy their equipment is!
My little boy is currently practising his punching moves in my tummy! So weird after not feeling him much the past few days! It's making me giggle!! Compensates for the thrush and anaemia he's given me! Hehe Smile

topmammy · 07/10/2016 21:22

No full bladder for my scan needed. I didn't really have a full bladder for my 12 week one either. I did drink before hand bit theye never actually told me to this time, but thru did for my first pregnancy 12week scan though.

That's a good idea about the muslin cloths wispa. I wonder if it'd work as well though when baby is in a bigger space like a cot as the cloths won't have a side to keep them in place. Could try it in the moses basket though.

Naschkatze · 07/10/2016 21:35

Oh dear. Sounding like it depends on where you are...
I didn't really have a full bladder for 12 week either because they didn't tell me to and although I had a drink beforehand they called me in early so didn't have time to 'fill up'. I didn't get the best pictures but got the necessary measurements. I'm hoping this means that a full bladder isn't necessary this time either.

Evergreen17 · 08/10/2016 07:21

I have bought the sleepy head. From my research it is safe and recommended and I havent heard of a single incident with it. But this is my opinion and my decision Smile
Yay! Another boy top Smile and dotty! So many boys oh dear!

Shellbell0403 · 08/10/2016 07:51

Morning ladies...

Starting to struggle through the night! Keep waking up unable to be comfortable and waking up with pains in my back and sides. Keep going between my left and right side! Waking up exhausted! Don't know whether to get a new pillow or what else to do

Evergreen17 · 08/10/2016 08:07

Shell I have been waking up a lot for the past 8 weeks. I dont get the cramps and restless legs anymore and I think the magnesium is to thank for that and also my new working hours so I get to sit down a lot more.
But now my bump is a little bigger (still tiny though!!!) when I sleep on my side it moves to one side and it is so weird. So I started to put a pillow under it. So I have my head pillow, a pillow between my legs and a bump pillow. I think I need one for my back next Grin

SBSparkles · 08/10/2016 08:29

I was told by my sonography that my bladder wasn't quite full enough for the 20 week scan. We had to wait a bit for the water I'd drank to reach the bladder. So it depends who/where/how good the equipment is.

SBSparkles · 08/10/2016 08:32

Evergreen and shell I think a good nights sleep is a thing of the past now! I wake up about every three hours and have to pee desperately, Tummy is also in the way, I'm just generally uncomfortable. I can't wait to go to bed because I'm so tired but all night in wondering when it's time to get up so the merry go round is over!

Newmummy2017 · 08/10/2016 08:52

Morning mums! I've still got to Wednesday to wait for my scan. Baby seemed really wriggly Wednesday and Thursday but don't think I really felt anything yesterday- I have to keep reminding myself it's ok not to have regular movements at this point (19 weeks 4 days). Topmammy I have bought 2 swaddle blankets from the grobag website for newborns (to use up until 14lbs) which I it's supposed to make the baby feel more cocooned. It's 12% off your fist purchase and free postage. They have just emailed my a 15% off code to so I will get a grobag once I know the sex!

DottyA · 08/10/2016 09:27

Newmummy I'm 20+3 and still not having regular movement. Or even anything that I can definitely say is movement - a few flutters really, not much else. But I had a healthy, wriggly baby on my scan yesterday.

That's good to know- thanks Dotty!

kikisdelivery · 08/10/2016 13:00

Afternoon all! Back in Blighty for me! Currently still at the airport as the OH has insisted he needs a Burger King due to the options in Malaga airport being not to his tastes at 8am! I just wanna get home to my sofa and cats!

Mind you I have told him to get me a cheeseburger Grin

Going to try and properly catch up with the thread when I'm home soon.

Shellbell0403 · 08/10/2016 16:46

newmummy i am 21+5 and Iv not really felt much! I have an anterior placenta so that explains why not... maybe u have similar? Don't worry u will feel baba soon

gumbootsandjandals · 08/10/2016 16:56

Ladies, I have a Very Important Question. Skinny maternity jeans that are actual denim. Do they exist?

I have 4yo H&M jeans that are actual denim and very warm. I was in there the other day and dismayed to see the jeans all seem like jeggings (the quality of the rest of their mat stuff, bar the nursing range, seems to have gone downhill too). I don't want to get a cold bum this winter.

LunaPatuna · 08/10/2016 19:40

I bought a pair of skinny over-bump jeans from ASOS gumboots & had to send them back after 2 wears, they were terrible quality.
Have since bought the Joni and Jamie ones from Topshop & they're snug, comfy & well stitched. No belt loops but I like that!
I also bought a Next pair from eBay but think they're a bit too rigid denim-y for me but they look more like regular jeans?

gumbootsandjandals · 08/10/2016 19:46

Thanks Luna. Are the Top shop and Next ones true to size? I know with H&M you have to buy bigger these days, while JoJo you have to downsize. I've found Next maternity tops to be generously sized but have never tried their trousers.

LunaPatuna · 08/10/2016 20:33

I would say so gumboots - there seems to be enough bump space for growth & the jersey layer starts quite low down. I might get a pair a size bigger if my thighs & bum get bigger but I'm enjoying the strapped in feeling for now!
The next ones felt roomier in general, not quite sprayed on. It's totally up to your personal preference. Shops don't seem to have maternity ranges instore anymore so buy stuff online & send it back! I haven't bought anything else maternity wise but I wear a lot of stretchy jersey normally.

MarjorySunshineDust · 09/10/2016 07:49

I've got a couple of pairs of maternity jeans from Next, really like them. They are a bit roomy but I'm still in my normal size, one pair have elastic and buttons inside the waist band so you can adjust them a bit more (I only just discovered this and have had them for weeks!)

Evergreen17 · 09/10/2016 08:16

Gum I got a pair of black jeans for work from Next and super happy. Hate the fact that everything they sell is skinny (I hate skinny jeans) but I bought them in a bigger size and they are good.
I will need to get a coat though but money is tight Confused
Regarding size I was a 12 in Next pre pregnancy and I ordered a 12 and cried for an hour. I got a 16 and it is roomy but nice because it has that elastic belt thing inside.

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 09/10/2016 08:19

I'm also living in my Next ones, they're like normal jeans though, not skinny but band is good and light grey, not black which is good for with lighter colour tops. Tempted to buy Jojo skinnies, at least a size too small though! Any reviews of those?

Im off to a local NCT sale today, anyone been to one before? I'm imagining elbows out (!) and loads of old toys but would like to get decent stuff, even a pram frame if there's something good. Has anyone been to one before?

Shellbell0403 · 09/10/2016 08:27

I'm still terrified to buy stuff! Need a shake!! Lol...

SBSparkles · 09/10/2016 08:31

Morning guys. So another Sunday of waking up and feeling like total crap. Anyone else feeling like this? Had the worst nights sleep as usual. I feel like I'm coming down with a horrible cold but before the actual symptoms start. But I've been feeling like this for about three weeks. Not sure what to do? It feels like the baby must be taking all my nutrients and leaving me like this. Sad

topmammy · 09/10/2016 08:40

Morning all.

I'm so tired but mostly due to my toddler who has a cold so she's been a bit unsettled in the night.

Jeans - I've got a pair of maternity over the bump jeans by Blooming Marvellous which I like. I have some Next ones but they always fall down! They're not over the bump though.

SB sorry you're feeling pants. I guess you're taking vits? Do you think you're getting enough iron in your diet? Lack of iron can make you feel tired and generally crap. My mum keeps telling me to eat steak. There's also these liquid iron supplements called Spatone you can get which are much gentler than iron tablets. Theye just taste like apple juice.
