Scottish pm me your email address and I'll try and add you to the fb group.

I am wearing underwire bras for as long as possible. As long as they fit well they shouldn't cause problems. I'm sensitive to elastic and non wired bras seem to have lots of it (esp the seamless ones) and they make me so bloody itchy.

divadee · 12/10/2016 19:30

Thanks london unfortunately it would seem not. We can't interview until week beginning 05/12 and then if they have to give a months notice I start maternity on the 03/01 and so won't be there to train them at all. Which means when I go back in June I will have a new team and won't know how trained they are. It's making me want to start maternity a lot later.

Evergreen17 · 12/10/2016 19:44

Sparkles sounds like the one I have Smile

ScottishSnowflake · 12/10/2016 19:44

Hi Gumboots, have pm'd you. Thank you Smile

MarjorySunshineDust · 12/10/2016 21:04

My nipples don't hurt in the cold but they did last time! I'm pretty much living in nursing bras now as my underwired bras were digging in a bit. I could buy some in a larger size but feels like a waste of money when I won't be wearing them for long.

London I'm sorry your dad is like that, it sounds awful. Well done for putting up some boundaries.

gumbootsandjandals · 12/10/2016 21:13

DH has been doing more than his fair share of the chores lately and I've started worrying that he thinks I'm a lazy bugger. To remedy this somewhat, today instead of having a sit/lie down when DS had his nap, I just ploughed on through with jobs. I got to dinner time before I finally sat down, and when I did I realised that the haemorrhoid that I'd managed to reduce right down had blown up again. FFS!!! I told DH and he told me I was silly not to have a break. Lesson learned - back to lazy buggerness tomorrow!

FriendlyGhost · 12/10/2016 23:26

Just catching up after a week away. So much chat! I had a lovely relaxing holiday but it's so good to be back in my comfy bed and I found that I swelled up loads in the heat. I'm glad I'm not going to be heavily pregnant in the summer!
I hope you managed to speak to your dr twocats. Pregnancy is exhausting but it does sound like more.
Someone a few pages back was asking about sleepyheads. I did a lot of research when I bought one for dd. They fully comply with safety regulations and are breathable. Both myself and a very paranoid friend tested this by squashing our faces into them. Also from experience they're not shaped in a way or high enough that a baby could get stuck against them. They're similar to rolling up towels which they do in hospital for premature babies so by that logic I'm absolutely convinced they're safe. I also ended up co sleeping with dd and I felt safer with her in a sleepyhead as I couldn't roll onto her but she was still next to me.
Marjory I hope your dh is ok.
My nipples are also very sore. I'm at the point where I wish dd would decide to stop breastfeeding. It's fine once she's on but I wince every time she latches. They were like rubber before so it must be pregnancy.
I'm pretty sure my baby has turned or moved higher tonight as I've been getting kicks above my belly button. Makes a nice change from dancing on my bladder!

Mysterycat23 · 13/10/2016 02:27

Something weird is happening and I wonder if any of you ladies are having it too before I ring dr. At night I'm waking myself up taking a really sudden deep breath kind of half through nose and half through mouth. It's happened during the day a few times too. Quite painful. It seems to be a reflex as I'm not able to control it. I'm guessing baby has moved up and is reducing my lung capacity, but are the random breaths normal? Or do I need to get checked out?

ScottishSnowflake · 13/10/2016 06:41

Hi Mystery, don't know if I've been doing a similar thing but it makes a horrible inward type snort - happens once or twice a day, completely involuntary. I was going to mention it to my midwife when I next see her but as I've started snoring a lot at night (much to DH's delight) I figured it's just a pregnancy thing but always better to get it checked.

MarjorySunshineDust · 13/10/2016 06:51

Take it easy gumboots! Your dh sounds great, don't feel guilty for letting him do a bit more at the moment.

I've not experienced that mystery but perhaps others have. Maybe worth checking?

Friendly I feel for you still feeding, quite pleased DD self weaned when I was around 16 weeks as it was getting so uncomfortable. I have friends who carried on feeding through pregnancy, massive respect to that!
DH doing well, just needs lots of rest. He has lost quite a bit of weight after the surgery and now this so I'm trying to build him up again and make sure he recovers properly now. He hates not being able to do much but need him on top form for February!

MarjorySunshineDust · 13/10/2016 06:53

friendly is your DD still getting milk? I know some women don't 'dry up'' in pregnancy and others are happy to dry nurse.

Mysterycat23 · 13/10/2016 07:11

Scottish yes sounds the same thing. Really odd. Will ring up and ask!!

Just spotted this post on workshops for working mums in London and our gang is eligible as they're wanting February due ladies. Sounds interesting:

kikisdelivery · 13/10/2016 08:36

gumboots your comment about the elastic in bras might've struck upon the reason my under-boob skin's been so itchy!! I was trying to figure it out, wondering if it was a sudden new hormonal reaction to my washing powders or something. I had to switch from my lovely underwired bras because they started to hurt too much (to be fair I was due some better fitting ones anyway!) and lo and behold - itchiness!! Oddly not so bad with the non-wired t-shirt fit type, but anything fancier is a no. I had to swap my bra this morning because of instant itches. Hmm!

Had a huge, nearly all-day row with the OH yesterday about second hand purchasing. I wouldn't mind one or two new things, given we have money from his parents, but he's absolutely going mental about it and saying everything has to be second hand - apart from mattresses/new bedding etc.

I know in a way I'm being silly - even some sites advise second hand is fine, as long as it's thoroughly checked and any important elements replaced - but I just wanted one or two new things for the baby - brand new, that are his. I'm not really asking for advice on how to handle it/change the OH's mind - I'm just having a mini-rant! I'd like to take a full year's mat leave, so I know second hand is probably better overall with money (especially as the OH is a self employed computer developer so work can sometimes come and go) and so on....but waaah....

Shellbell0403 · 13/10/2016 08:40

Just incase... I'm going to have a wee nosey...

Due February 2017 - Thread 8!
FriendlyGhost · 13/10/2016 09:29

Kiki feel similar to you in that it's nice to get new things. My dh was also a bit funny about the amount of money I wanted to spend. Luckily I have very generous parents who insisted on buying a lot of stuff-my mum still feels guilty that she couldn't afford to buy everything new when I was born but they can afford things now so she over compensated. This time I want to buy a new co-sleeper and my dh wants me to get second hand. Actually when you factor in the cost of a new mattress and the price second hand ones are going for around here there's not a huge difference! It's worth looking at the actual saving because sometimes it's not that much for good quality items. There are some things I think are better second hand though. I bought second hand furniture for dd (except her cot) and have again for her big girl room because I think you get better quality solid wood things if you get older stuff. I'be also bought some clothes second hand for dd as she's got older. I find that newborn stuff is washed so much it doesn't last as well so isn't always great quality second hand. You might also want it to last for more than one baby Wink
Marjory I actually have no idea if dd is still getting milk. She's 22 months so doesn't actually 'need' it and I suspect she's just using me for comfort and as a human dummy. She asks for it before naps and bed though and won't go without so I wonder if she's getting a small amount of collustrum. She's certainly not getting much though and her eating has definitely improved since I've been pregnant!

SBSparkles · 13/10/2016 12:50

Ahh so I'm still in bed off work feeling rubbish!!! Totally wiped out. They say iron tablets take two weeks to work! Not getting paid for this either! My school must hate me!

kikisdelivery · 13/10/2016 12:52

Friendly yes, I know what you mean! The OH's parents have been incredibly generous and sent us money which would allow us to get a new cot, set of drawers and moses basket, but he wants to stretch it as far as possible and look ofr second hand everything. I also agree that there is the possibility of thinking a saving's being made, only to then have to spend out on new bedding/mattresses etc.

I've partly compromised I guess, I found a 5 month old (apparently) Chicco Next to Me on a local group so have messaged the person selling as it's half the usual retail price. There's also another ad with what appears to be a free moses basket which just needs to be gone, and one of the OH's work contacts can apparently get us a cot. It's not what I wanted to do... I really have no rational explanation for wanting new, other than I just do!! - but I guess second hand now might mean more money during mat leave later.

I'm with you on second hand furnishings being generally sturdier and stuff, though. I'm currently trying to track down a decent chest of drawers - though for me, given I'm 5'10, decent also means tall enough to possibly put a changing mat on top without too much bending!!

I've suddenly gone wild on buying things, mind, rather than waiting for Black Friday etc like I said I would...!!

MarjorySunshineDust · 13/10/2016 15:58

Kiki i agree it's nice to be able to buy some things new. I really wanted to buy everyone new at first but we did get some really good stuff second hand. I picked up a Tripp trapp high chair, mamas and papas moses basket and a fisher price jungle gym in excellent condition from the local netmums selling page.
Also, we love Kiki's flying delivery service! Grin

friendly my DD was similarly just having sleeptime/comfort feeds but seemed to lose interest when the milk decreased to nothing. Was relieved she wasn't upset by it as I had no idea how to tackle weaning, it was such a big comfort for her (she stopped just before turning 3) I think she probably would have fed throughout pregnancy if she was a bit younger.

kikisdelivery · 13/10/2016 16:05

Hahah marjory I am glad you got the name reference! I love the film too, it's so great! My black cat, I swear, gives just as much lip as the cat in the film.... though clearly not in English!!!

Yeah, I think I am just getting baby excitement and wanting all the shiny shiny new things.... but actually although my maternity policy is generous, it's not limitless, so I have to very begrudgingly think sensibly too.

I might check out the local Netmums page.... netmums, not mumsnet? there's so many different sites out there for selling on, it's tricky to know which might be good!

Evergreen17 · 13/10/2016 16:40

On my way to the hospital because I havent felt the bubba move since yesterday and they said to go
I work in London and we have southern train strikes and I am having a nightmare journey

ScottishSnowflake · 13/10/2016 17:19

Good luck evergreen, hope all is well with little one

kikisdelivery · 13/10/2016 17:21

Good luck Ever, let us know how you get on x

CeeCeeEnnEss · 13/10/2016 17:28

Oh gosh evergreen sure everything will be fine but I'm glad you're getting seen. Don't stress xx

FriendlyGhost · 13/10/2016 17:38

Good luck Evergreen. I went in at a similar stage last time and my baby had just got into a tricky position. He'll suddenly start to have a party in there once the monitor's on! Southern are bastards. Hope you get there soon.

MarjorySunshineDust · 13/10/2016 17:56

kiki yep netmums! I'd never been on there before (or since actually) but managed to get some good stuff at the time.

Hope everything is ok evergreen, I'm sure it will be fine but definitely sensible to have a checkup.
