I use a pillow - helps with backache for me too.

Hope the birthday due-dates work out how you like them. DD was born 11 days before my 30th - we went out for pasta, first public feeding to celebrate!

Lovely pics and scan news everyone. Glad the appt was nothing serious, Puggle. I'd quite like another one, I feel a little abandoned following the additional attention I had in the first trimester.

I doubt we will have a babymoon, holidays with DD are quite tiring! Feb half term is usually skiing, but as two of the four adults that usually go together are pregnant, I doubt we would manage it. I'll be there next year though, DD adores it and so does DH. I'm happy doing a couple of hours on the slopes and then coming back to play with the bairn.

MyGreenSofa · 19/10/2016 08:17

We will be going to Center Parcs end of Feb, so a babymoon of sorts, although we will have DD and dog in tow! We love it there!

I have a pregnancy pillow that I used last time. Personally I didn't find it that helpful later on in pregnancy and it does take up a lot of the bed! I move around a lot at night, if I stayed still it would probably be more helpful as it could help me get comfortable until I needed to move again!

marmitecheesetoast · 19/10/2016 08:26

That's annoying about your half terms jpeg shouldn't be allowed to happen! Hope you and OH have lovely special few days away together next week

Lakes and Whitby will be lovely Sarah!

Ooh Marrakech has been on my list a while Bubbins sounds like you had a gorgeous time. Spa day definitely sounds called for this time!

Think we are going to go ahead and book a week in the Canaries first week in December! Never been on holiday in winter time before anywhere warm, exciting!

That's annoying about appointment puggle unnecessary stress! Glad you got some reassurance out of it though and got to see baby again!

I still need to look into pregnancy pillows too kittycat not finding I'm getting too uncomfortable yet but every single time I wake up in the night (quite a lot!) I've ended up on my back! Any top recommendations from those who've done this before?!

Bubbinsmakesthree · 19/10/2016 17:14

chat - I know what you mean about feeling abandoned, I appointments every couple of weeks through my last pregnancy, the lack of attention this time is obviously good news but feels strange!

Canaries sounds great!

I had a dream genii pillow last time which didn't take up half the bed. Didn't use it until much later on though, I am relishing being able to toss and turn and lay on my back whilst I still can.

I slept for 11 hours last night Shock - 5 mins shut-eye at 8pm turned into me sleeping until 7am (woke for 5-10mins a few times but mostly glorious uninterrupted sleep). Not sure I have slept that long since before DS was born!

jpeg28 · 19/10/2016 17:44

Kitty was actually going to post about the hip pain!! Mine is like a sharp almost trapped nerve pain and really keeps me up. I have a huge 12ft pregnancy pillow but it's not helping, I'm wondering if I brought the wrong one. And marmite I keep ending up on my back too! I'm getting worried about it.

Wow bubbins what an amazing sleep! You must have needed it.

I had really stingy eyes today at work and that's probably due to lack of sleep! I taught 5 pretty awful lessons! Bring on half term!!

Cazbg · 19/10/2016 18:08

Hey, so lovely to see all these amazing scan pictures - I have been written off for the last two weeks with a nasty cold (passed from dd1).
16week appt on Friday.
Is anyone else finding this stage strange where u don't have so many symptoms but yet to feel movement. Making me super paranoid (had the same with dd1).
Anyone feeling movement yet?
Xxx

TopKittyKat · 19/10/2016 20:46

Thanks for the responses on the pregnancy pillows. I might have to try one to see.
Jpeg - yes it's a sharp pain. It is always on the side I'm laying on but I get it both hips.
marmite - I always end up on my back too. Not sure how long I'll be able to do that for.

bubbins - I'm jealous of your long sleep. Did you feel refreshed when you woke up.

Cazbg - I've had a few times in the night when I've rolled over and thought I've felt something but I'm not really sure. I'm probably imagining it! I can't wait to feel proper movement.

I'm 15 weeks now and my bump is huge. I swear I'm much bigger than I should be. How is everyone else's bumps growing?

sarahhh1984 · 19/10/2016 20:54

Kitty, I have a Dreamgenii and it's not too big. Just have a standard double bed and still plenty of space for DH. Find it's helped with the pains I was getting in my leg plus I've stopped rolling onto my back. Imagine it will be good for bump support later on as well. I've definitely woken up in the night less since I've been using it.

MumiTravels · 19/10/2016 21:32

I'm just using a spare normal pillow at the minute. Mainly under my boobs though as they are still sensitive on the mattress and have doubled in size. My sciatica is tinging now and again too.

DH is on the settee tonight so I can sprawl out and have a good sleep. He just tucked me into bed with a glass of milk Grin

jpeg28 · 20/10/2016 06:32

That's so nice of him Mumi! I love having the bed to myself.

So this ha happened... is it bump or bloat?! I'm going to work like this today so I'm pretty sure people will think I've been over eating!!

April 2017 #4 More baby scans, less morning sickness!
Helbelle75 · 20/10/2016 07:09

Pretty much like mine jpeg and I'm going with bump! My sister came round last night and she was like ' you've got a bump!' And she's very cynical and would usually say it was bloat. In my maternity leggings now and they're so comfortable!

SharkBastard · 20/10/2016 07:25

I've been feeling swooshing in my tummy, like when you drive down a hill too fast. I believe that is movement but I'm only 13+4 but it is my second and I remember very well how DD felt!

My symptoms are still going strong, feeling nauseous, trouble sleeping, peeing all through the night, boobs hurting. Hoping this bloody sickness ends soon, proper fed up!

Niks2026 · 20/10/2016 08:11

Morning all. Bumps so far look great ladies. Im definitely in the stage where it's difficult to tell bloat or bump?!? I've caved and taken the day off work today. Left work before 10.30 yesterday to go to Drs as felt rough. I have a water infection. And nothing keeps these headaches away. So to be gentle with myself and baby I've taken the day off. Just hope work are not too annoyed at me :( I know there's nothing they can do about it but I don't want to be made to feel bad

MonkeyArms · 20/10/2016 09:45

Need a hand hold/reassurance/ a good talking to. Started getting low down abdominal pain last night which has continued to this morning. My lower back is achey too. This feels exactly like I normally do the day before my period starts normally. Really hoping that this is just down to stretching due to bump growth but petrified that this is the start of the end. I know I am being pathetic but just can't shake a feeling of doom.

SharkBastard · 20/10/2016 10:00

How many weeks are you, Monkey? Stretching pains are normal, but you already know that. There is nothing wrong with feeling nervous about it, it's a really nerve inducing time.

No blood I assume? That's a great sign

Try and rest and look after yourself. If you feel worried give your midwife a call Flowers

MonkeyArms · 20/10/2016 10:08

Thanks shark. I'm 17 weeks today but as its my first i have no idea what normal stretching feels like. No blood thank goodness. Overseas with work at the moment so can't really do anything till I get back next week unless I start bleeding.

jpeg28 · 20/10/2016 10:28

Monkey I'm sure everything is ok... can you call your MW who I'm sure will reassure you. I have had that feeling a lot, especially around 12/13weeks. It felt exactly like my period was coming. I felt it loads early on too and everything is fine. Maybe it's just some serious growing happening this week.

Helbelle75 · 20/10/2016 11:13

I had the day off yesterday Niks as I felt so tired. I feel a lot better today after a lot of rest, so get you feet up.
I had some stretching the other night monkey, a bit like period pains. I'm 15+2 today. Everything is fine here so far, so hoping you're ok and it's just growing pains.

MrsRhubarb · 20/10/2016 12:39

Hello all! Just been catching up, I don't know where the last week or so went. Flu really wiped me out, just spent days on the sofa without even the energy to scroll through MN. Feeling much better, so been busy catching up on housework and boring stuff that got neglected while I was poorly.

One of DD's rabbits died unexpectedly yesterday, I think I explained it all okay as she has taken it very well. I had a cry once she was in bed though!

Had 16 week midwife appointment today (am 15+4) and we heard the heartbeat! Midwife is pretty sure I have an anterior placenta, but baby is right up high already, I hadn't even realised. Don't see her again until January, which seems forever away. Definitely felt a few thumps and somersaults from in there.

Cath3081 · 20/10/2016 12:39

Hi, I'm late joining this thread. Is anyone still around? I haven't seen any posts since 20 September?

I'm due 30 April 2017 with DC #1. I only found out I was pregnant at 10 weeks Shock

I had my 12 week scan yesterday. Seeing the little baby on the screen made everything seem so real. He/she had their hands up behind the head (as if sun tanning on a beach!). Seems very chilled out in there.

Cath3081 · 20/10/2016 12:55

Ooops.. sorry. Just ignore my last message about there not being posts on this thread since 20 September. I didn't realise there was more than one page. Can I blame baby brain Halo

Niks2026 · 20/10/2016 12:57

Welcome cath i think there is a Facebook group from this thread. I can't remember who it was that you had to message with your email to join.

MyGreenSofa · 20/10/2016 13:34

Monkey - like others have said it's most likely to be stretching pains at this stage! The hormones also make your muscles relax which can cause back ache.

marmitecheesetoast · 20/10/2016 13:46

Hi all,

Ooh Jpeg I said your bump would pop out soon! Looks like start of a bump to me! That's what I'm telling myself too - bump not bloat!

Topkitty I'm glad you've said that as I'm only 15 weeks tomorrow and also feel like bump is way bigger than it should be (bump/bloat Wink) as you can see from previous pic! I keep reading online that with first time pregnancies lots of women don't have a noticeable bump til closer to 20 weeks!... ummm Blush

hope you're ok Monkey I've been having lots of quite intense period type pains and stretchy pains, and an achey lower back too. I'm sure it's just all the strange stretchy sensations. It is confusing when every sensation is so new though

Welcome cath sound like a great scan pic! Grin

I'm going to go and look at pregnancy pillows this weekend (and hopefully a new Ikea kitchen!! Grin)

What's anyone been using to rub on their bumps? I've been using Bio Oil that I already happened to have in the house but its nearly finished now and trying to decide whether to buy more of that or try something eles

marmitecheesetoast · 20/10/2016 14:16

Ps sorry to hear you're still struggling Shark no wonder you're feeling fed up sounds miserable Sad

I'm just wondering when I'm going to stop feeling so constantly knackered... Hmm
