Sorry ladies been a bit absent. Busy few days. Will try and catch up this evening.
I had my booking in appt last week (very late) but because I'm classed as overweight (5ft 4 13st) I have to go for a glucose blood test....no eating from 9pm tonight, have to drink a bottle of lucozade in one go tomorrow morning at 7 to have blood taken exactly 2 hours later. Anyone else had this done? Apparently it's a new thing?!?

Hayls17 · 16/10/2016 16:51

nicks I'm overweight too but i was told the glucose test will be somewhere around 26weeks. May be different in different areas though.

Congrats strubo I can't believe gender scans are coming around already! Mine isn't until December, I'm so tempted to pay for an early one!

jpeg28 · 16/10/2016 17:31

Congrats strubo! I cannot believe the gender scans are coming around either! It feels like it's going so fast but also so slow!

When do you think you will all start buying stuff?

Avengerhart85 · 16/10/2016 17:51

Eeek strubo congratulations!!

finova · 16/10/2016 17:52

Er I might have bought a couple of baby outfits already!

Avengerhart85 · 16/10/2016 17:53

jpeg we bought an early scan on groupon so as soon as we have that we (me Wink) will be off shopping.
I think I waited until 20 weeks with DS before buying very much, purely because I get carried away starting too early!

jpeg28 · 16/10/2016 18:00

I'm tempted to start shopping! Mothercare have a new born list and because it's my first I have no idea what I'm doing! Think I'll just print it off and start checking things off!

Hayls17 · 16/10/2016 18:07

jpeg That mothercare list is so handy, that's what I've been using too. I've started shopping already, I started last week. Mainly because I'm a crap saver and it's dawned on me we have 6 more paydays till baby is here Shock and also as it's our first it's pretty costly starting from scratch!

JennyOfOldstones · 16/10/2016 19:19

Congrats strubo

I got moved forward a week and I know when we conceived because we only did it twice that month! The sonographer showed us the bladder and said you only see it after 13w but I am SURE I was 12+5 not 13+5!!

SharkBastard · 16/10/2016 19:24

I'm due to have the GTT test at 28 weeks...seems very early to have it now?! Not usually something they do till the baby is bigger.

Congrats on the boy news strubo!

MumiTravels · 16/10/2016 19:33

Jenny, I think sperm can survive inside you for about 5 days so it may have been lingering before your egg got fertilised maybe?!

Mummymulb16 · 16/10/2016 19:50

I want to start shopping now but holding out till 20 weeks scan! So I can buy gender specific items then 😊

choccybiscuit · 16/10/2016 19:56

Congrats strubo wonderful news!
Dh nearly bought the baby monitor today but forgot to go into boots. Might buy it this week

SussexTeacher · 16/10/2016 19:58

I'm having the glucose test at 27 weeks. I'm Indian and overweight so at high risk.

I'm doing the John Lewis nursery consultation, just to get a master list of things we need. Then I can buy online and tick off.

Hoping to leave the big bits until after Christmas, in the hope there might be some sales on....

crumblequeen · 16/10/2016 20:42

Thanks for the welcomes. We bought two Jellycat bunnies after our scan - one pink and one blue. I haven't kept any baby things so we'll have to start from scratch. Need some maternity trousers quite badly for work, keep getting up for the printer with unbuttoned ones Blush

crumblequeen · 16/10/2016 20:43

Sussexteacher I love the John Lewis stuff, been eyeing up the clothes already.

MyGreenSofa · 16/10/2016 22:26

Congrats on team blue Strubo!

I'll wait until we find out gender to start shopping, but there isn't loads to buy this time round, especially if it's another pink one! We do need to completely redecorate our spare room and buy new furniture to be DD's new room though, to spare up her current room which would eventually be this baby's room. Even though they'll room in with us for first 6 months or so, all their stuff needs its own room!

I'll be having the GTT test at 28 weeks niks, but in my last pregnancy they did it at 16 & 28 weeks and it was a blood test before and 2 hours after drinking the glucose drink (hospital provided, not lucozade) and this time it's the same but also instructed to eat high carb diet for 3 days prior to the test, I didn't have to do this last time but not complaining! It's not a very new thing.

ChatEnOeuf · 16/10/2016 22:33

Sounds early for a GTT (and at our trust they do a fasting sugar first as well), but earlier is better if there's a problem. Wouldn't fancy a bottle of lucosade with this nausea though! I expect that would tip me over the edge.

I have a maternity/babywearing coat from my first pregnancy (Sept birthday, I only used it carrying DD). It's huge, so will definitely do me all winter and early spring.

Toops superstitious to buy anything just yet. We have all of DD's stuff in the loft, so lots of neutral stuff in nb and 0-3m but only pink and purple things in tiny baby :)

Niks2026 · 17/10/2016 08:11

I read up on the glucose test and it said about having a blood test first then waiting the 2 hours and it's usually much later in pregnancy. I do find it very odd that Im not having a normal one first then waiting the 2 hours for a second. And that I had to buy a bottle of lucozade to drink (which I nearly threw up) I can't stand orange or fizzy normally let alone when nauseous. Just on my way to the hospital now. Need to have my bloods between 9.02 - 9.23 which is 2 hours after (took me ages to try and drink it ) then my scan is at 9.45. Just wish I didn't have to go back to work after.

marmitecheesetoast · 17/10/2016 10:04

Morning everyone Smile
I seem to have a full on totally un-hideable full on bump now almost overnight it seems... is that too early?! I'm only just over 14 weeks and it's my first. Everything I've read suggests you don't show that much with a first until about 16 weeks?! I wore a loose fitting dress this morning which I though definitely still hid it and my friend walked into the office and went 'oh my god you look so pregnant!' Blush

Also, I weighed myself yesterday for the first time since getting pregnant and I'm worried I've put on too much weight already! I've put on almost 10 pounds!! ShockBlush that is too much right!? Ive not got bigger anywhere other than bump though... how much has anyone else put on yet if you don't mind me asking!?

MyGreenSofa · 17/10/2016 11:10

Niks - good luck with GTT & scan. Does seem a bit odd how they're doing your GTT but these things always vary place to place. They might get you to do it again later on in pregnancy.

Marmite - I've known of a few people (especially particularly slim ones) who say their bumps 'pop' 13/14 weeks. It may be water weight though! It's nice if you feel like it's a proper bump though, usually there's a long period of just feeling fat before you get there!

I was weighed last week and haven't gained any weight since booking in appt which I was flabbergasted at! I imagine I gained weight before hand though. Have you been feeling nauseous and having to eat regularly through first trimester? I wouldn't worry too much about how much you gain, as long as you're not eating ridiculous amounts there's not much you can do about it!

MonkeyArms · 17/10/2016 12:04

marmite i think ive put on 7lbs so in the same ball park. I'm 16 weeks and I felt like I could feel my bump moving up on Sunday morning. very weird feeling indeed. I am now flat again between my hop bones but have a definite bump in a tight top. though it might just be the constipation kicking in.... Blush

MumiTravels · 17/10/2016 13:46

I don't know much about the GTT test sorry ladies. Not requiring it.

I'm absolutely shattered today. Go on holiday in 2 weeks for 4 weeks and I cannot be bothered one bit. I just don't want to go. For the first time ever I can't be bothered to go on holiday. I just feel so stressed at the moment. I need some sleep too. My bloodcount was already creeping down, does anybody know if they recheck it?

Trying to sort out everything for moving now too, we are paperless billing and they want copies of everything so need to go and ask nicely as at the bank this afternoon if they will print me statements.

marmitecheesetoast · 17/10/2016 14:02

Thanks Monkey and Green I think I'm just a bit taken aback to notice such a difference so soon! Although DH keeps saying your uterus is now the size of a melon, there's nowhere you could hide it!Hmm
I can't believe you haven't gained any weight yet Green! I guess everyone is different though! I was quite slim before so maybe DH is right there was nowhere to 'hide' it. Just feel a bit self conscious that people will think it's too early to look like I have a proper bump! It does feel quite firm rather than squishy. As you say a lot may be fluid though.
I did have more nausea rather than sickness in T1 so was doing more constant grazing than throwing up, although I largely managed to keep it pretty healthy. I know I should just stop worrying about it but feel a bit paranoid about it now!

Hope GTT went ok niks don't like the sound of having to drink a bottle of lucozade!

Sounds like you're having a tough time mumi. Hopefully when you actually get on holiday I'm sure you'll relax into it and hopefully enjoy it. Where are you going?

MumiTravels · 17/10/2016 14:56

Asia and Australia Marmite.

I'm normally such an organised person but have lost my oomph at the moment. Various bits still to book as having to avoid Zika areas. I think that's why I can't be bothered as I haven't finished booking stuff and we leave in less than two weeks.
