I haven't yet told work and I'm 15 weeks pregnant - how have everyone else's conversations about it gone?

jpeg28 · 17/10/2016 15:15

Marmite that's great you've popped! Wish I had! I'm 13+6 and put on 4lb but I look so my fatter!! My face, arms and thighs!! I haven't popped yet but my trousers are snug! I'm not slim in the first place tho so I think my stomach can absorb the bump in existing fat!!

everdene I told work at 12 weeks. My head teacher is really awkward and didn't know what to say! Apart from that people were very nice!

Helbelle75 · 17/10/2016 15:56

I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and have put on 3lbs so far. I definitely have a bump now - very difficult to hide it with some clothes. I'm used to having a flat stomach, so it's very odd! THis is my first too, and I wasn't expecting to show so early.
I'm the same mumi - usually so energetic and organised and really can't be bothered with much at the moment.
I told my line manager at 7 weeks, but am telling HR 'officially' this week. Everyone has known since about 12 weeks though, and they're all really happy about it. I work in a really small school, so it's hard to hide anything really.

marmitecheesetoast · 17/10/2016 16:28

Oh I can imagine that must be a bit of a stress mumi. Hopefully you'll have a day of feeling energised soon and can get the last bits sorted. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time and will be great memories to look back on when the baby arrives!

Jpeg you might pop soon then, mine seemed to happen almost overnight at 14 weeks! And nonsense I think you are fairly slim from those wedding outfit pics if I remember rightly! (In a non-creepy way!) I've attached pic of my sudden new 'growth' maybe it is just food?! BlushGrin

My line manager is really awkward too, told him the day afternoon I had my 12 week scan, was just ready to get it out in the open by then. Have only told my immediate small team so far though. Need to tell the wider department soon before I start rocking up with a really obvious bump but we don't interact that frequently despite sharing an office and being quite friendly with some of them so it feels a bit awkward how to bring it up

12 week scan went well. They've moved me forward a couple of days so my EDD is now 29th April. Saw baby wriggling and kicking away. Apparently the reason for the glucose test is to use prevention rather than treatment in women who are "overweight" then re-test at 28 weeks. 20 week scan booked for 15th December...that seems forever away! The sickness is definitely starting to fade now thank goodness.

Celen · 17/10/2016 17:51

Great scan pic Niks !Smile

Hayls17 · 17/10/2016 18:02

Lovely scan nicks

everdene I told my manager at 8 weeks. I'm so glad I got it out the way early, we have already had the chance to plan what will happen on my maternity leave. I'm the only person who does my job and it will take quite a lot of training to get the person covering up to speed. I'm a control freak and I hate the idea of going back after 6 months to find out things have been cocked up, so it's such a relief to get a plan in place early on. It can be awkward bringing it up but it's such a weight off your shoulders when it's done!

BinglyBinglyBeep · 17/10/2016 18:15

Marmite I texted DH today to tell him bump has popped out. My first too, I think we're in the same boat! Whether it's bloat or baby I need to do some emergency clothes shopping online tonight though, and pack away some clothes this weekend if I can find the energy!

Welcome new joiners!

MyGreenSofa · 17/10/2016 19:03

Lovely looking bump marmite! Grin

jpeg28 · 17/10/2016 19:12

You look great marmite! And thank you Smile I can't wait to actually look pregnant!!

I just had a delivery today of a load of maternity clothes from eBay. Some of its brand new! Loads of bargains on there!

Great scan picture Niks and congrats!

Celen · 17/10/2016 20:42

I haven't been able to find any nice clothes on there yet jpeg, you must have been lucky Smile

abeandhalo · 17/10/2016 21:03

That's funny I suddenly noticed yesterday that I have a proper bump now. It came out so quickly!

Went for brunch with my friends yesterday & they had been saying earlier in the week that they were excited to see my pregnant and I'd told them there would be nothing to see, but when I got dressed yesterday morning I thought 'bloody hell, yes there is!'

Had our second attempt at dating scan on Saturday (after a mad rush as they didn't tell me it was at a different hospital from last time) and my due date was brought forward to 7th April. They did have a little look for sex as we're so close to 16 weeks but couldn't see anything!

marmitecheesetoast · 18/10/2016 08:17

Thanks Green and Jpeg! Although as to whether it's genuine bump or bloat who knows, probably a combination of both! It is very firm though! Whichever, it's getting almost impossible to hide even my baggiest tops!
Ah we are in the same boat Bingley hope you managed to find some nice things to order online. Ooh eBay is a good idea Jpeg never thought of that.

I'm going swimming after work tonight for the first time in a few weeks (stopped going as was too self conscious of new tummy Blush) but just need to bite the bullet and get on with it I think! Plus if I see a colleague again at least it's out the open this time! Hopefully I look more pregnant in my cossie this time!

DH and I were umming and ahhing about a 'baby moon' last night for a chance for a last 'adults only' relaxing holiday! It's difficult timing though being pregnant through winter isn't it? To get a bit of warmth and sunshine without going too far I figure it's basically Canary Islands or Cyprus. Anyone else planning a last break?

marmitecheesetoast · 18/10/2016 08:19

Ooh you too abe! What did your friends say at brunch? Glad scan went well

Puggleface · 18/10/2016 09:40

Hello lovely ladies, welcome newbies!
Ah I caved and got some new maternity leggings yesterday! I'm wearing them today and they are amazing! I've also well and truly 'popped' at 14 weeks! (Well 14+4 now!) I'm a few weeks ahead of scedule if I look back at bump pics from last time so the stomach muscles are Defoe not holding this time! (Not that I had proper ones to begin with any way!)
So after being discharged from Fetal Medicine I got a letter through on Saturday asking me to come in for an appointment today. I've not convinced myself that I have GSB or something as I had to do lots of swabs and tests last time so I'm a bit worried and trying not to google anything until I get home from the appointment! I'm sure I'm over reacting!
No baby moon for us marmite but I'd think somewhere like the canaries would be good! Let us know if you book anywhere!

jpeg28 · 18/10/2016 09:56

No babymoon for us unfortunately, even though we are both teachers we have separate February half terms which is so annoying! OH is going skiing in his half term, my skiing days are over for a few years Sad we are going away next week just for a couple of nights as it would have been my due date with baby number 1... even though we definitely cannot afford it I thought why not, we won't be able to do things like that very often in 6months!!

SharkBastard · 18/10/2016 13:29

After a good few days of little to no nausea, I'm back down to horror with a smash this week. Grrrr

Great scan, Niks :)

I've noticed swelling but I'm a fat git anyway, and I don't think I'll show till much later due to layers of lard. I have stretchy clothes anyhoo, so will stick with them for as long as possible. Loathe to buy anything maternity wise as I just don't want to waste money on clothes (I hate shopping).

No babymoon for us, if it were our first, I'd certainly want one, so I say go for it if you can!

sarahhh1984 · 18/10/2016 14:25

We're sort of doing a babymoon, marmite, but they're actually trips we had planned before I got pregnant!

Going to the Lake District for DH's birthday in November which will be lovely, and then we have a trip to Whitby planned with some friends early next year when I'll be about 29 weeks. I'll be huge but it'll be nice and relaxing to have a few days out at that stage!

Puggleface · 18/10/2016 17:28

Back from the FMU appointment. The letter was send out in error! It made me so anxious! I still managed to get in to see the wonderful consultant who delivered my son last year and he gave me a scan anyway! It was very reassuring in the end but I'm now on an anxiety 'come down' nice to see baby again and all was looking well! Even got a estimated Fetal weight! Baby is currently around 4oz! 😱 I'm pretty sure that's the amount of sugar I put in to make a small batch of cupcakes!!

Bubbinsmakesthree · 18/10/2016 17:32

We had a babymoon in Marrakech last time - stayed in a gorgeous riad and relaxed most of the time, bliss!

With a toddler to consider no such plans this time round but I am lobbying DH for an early birthday present of a spa break (seeing as may be busy giving birth on my birthday!)

Hayls17 · 18/10/2016 17:37

bubbins I could well give birth on my birthday too Shock I'm due 1 week before!

Celen · 18/10/2016 18:27

How funny re: birthdays! I'll probably having my baby a few weeks before my 40th birthday! At least I'll be able to celebrate a little Wine

Bubbinsmakesthree · 18/10/2016 18:37

Celen it is my 40th too! My dates make me due bang on my birthday, scan reckons I will be a week earlier. Whether the baby is here or not I'll be treating myself to a glass of something sparkly!

crumblequeen · 18/10/2016 22:07

Lovely pictures! Hope the birthday ladies get to celebrate-I had my last DS shortly before my 30th and managed to escape for a girls afternoon tea. Work were fine with me. One lady has a garage of baby things I can look through and one of the partners gave me his old cot last time (used for his two children then my two) so he was really pleased for me and said to have as much time off as I want. It's a relief that people know now and I can wear dresses that show the bump!

TopKittyKat · 19/10/2016 07:21

Morning ladies.
Quick question - have any of you been using one of those pregnancy pillows?
I'm 15+3 and have started getting awful hip pain at night when I sleep on my side. It's waking me up a lot in the night.
I read that having a pillow that runs the length of your legs to keep you legs evenly spaced relieves pressure on your hips. Have any of you experienced this and does it work?
We've only got a double bed and the pillows look huge (like a whole other person) so I'm worried there will be no room for DH!
