If you are feeling crap would really recommend going for a swim (if you normally enjoy it anyway). I have started going on Monday evenings and find it very relaxing, and feel virtuous afterwards as I've taken exercise - even if it is only a few lengths!

He's got to work on the Friday Twoplusone!??! Thats a bit tough isn't it after being away for so long? Fingers crossed he makes it in earlier.

Trimum - your situation sounds the same as mine. I'm really not exageratting that I do look about 6 months gone now when I'm only 16wks. A few people have even started noticing (and asking me if I'm PG so they must be fairly certain) and this definately didn't happen in my earlier pregnancies - I just think I'm going to be massive!!! Although I am taking words of comfort from recent posts that the weight gain will slow down.

Basically Bertieboo, you are no alone in teh way you feel or the way your body has responded. I know that in itself may not make you feel better but at least you know you can always find an understanding ear on here.

Hi all, as usual haven't been on here for ages. am at home today as dd is still ill - she had a convulsion 2 weeks ago and has been so up and down with her temperature and now has an ear infection and tonsilitis. keep on having time off with her illnesses and mw visit / scans etc that feel like such a slacker!!

Anyway, on some of the current topics: we didn't have a play pen and don't intend to - dd started crawling at 5 mths! Have only used a stair gate since she's been in a bed (we put it at her bedroom door) She learnt quickly where she could and couldn't go and it has really helped when we've gone to other houses etc as she just knows she's not to go near the stairs etc.

Am sort of in maternity clothes- I have some normal bigger clothes that I am also wearing. Don't really have a bump though and parents at school where I work haven't suspected anything -they're usually a nosey bunch! Have got a whole load of maternity clothes from previous pg, and sister so should be ok...

Have my 20 week scan on 1st march - saw mw last week who told me that I won't be seen until 28 weeks now which just seems ages away. Was also told that they'll be keeping an eye on me as I'm likely to have big baby - aarrggh! - last one was 9lb 4oz but she was 11 days overdue, so they may induce me at 40 weeks if it looks like a big 'un! Up until that point i was feeling positive about the whole birthing experience but am now more worried

Glad to hear most of you are ok our hormones are just reminding us to take it easy and look forward to our new bundles of joy!

Have had a big clothes splurge! Jeans from JoJo Maman Baby are brilliant - incredibly comfy, they are the ones that come up under your armpits (lol) and are adjusted on the inside by built in elastic and buttons which you let out as you expand (my oldest son said they were kangaroo jeans). Have also bought a lovely top from there, another pair of jeans which have a huge band of elastic at the top (not sure I am keeping those!) and a plain black skirt. Have also ordered a silk tunic thing from M&S maternity, and some tops from pumpkin patch and a couple of very reasonable double layered vest thingys from Funmum. Feel better already. Thanks for help re clothes everyone.

Just seen the midwife today. Because of where I live (remote area of Scotland) she travels around a lot, therefore comes to me! So we had a nice relaxing chat in my house - fab. I heard the heartbeat (first time!) which was lovely. She noted that I don't look like I've put on any weight but didn't seem overly worried about it (but next time she is going to bring some scales to see!). She discussed the plan for when I go into labour - because I live so far from the hospital I am going to (hopefully) meet her en route - she will assess me before we go in too, which is very reassuring. She will also come to the hospital with me and deliver the baby - talk about wraparound care!! She is really lovely so I am most pleased about that. Nothing is too much trouble - she had forgotten her sonicaid so went up to the surgery borrow the GP's one so that I got a listen

Bertieboo - I feel exactly the same - i didnt lose all of no2 baby weight before getting pregnant and now am th esize of a house and only 16 weeks - look at least 20!! Also think my tummy is a different shape now because of section. I am feeling totally down in the dumps and crap about myself, feel like Ive no confidence, and am not enjoying this pregnany AT ALL, which is making me anxious that it will somehow rub off on the baby and I wont bond or something. cant wait until July - think it was Groveregg said that too, which made me feel less freakish.

I didnt feel like this both pregnancies - what is going on?

Dewmeadow and everyone else who is feeling pretty down at the moment, the one thing I keep thinking to myself that always cheers me up when it feels really bad is that this is DEFINITELY the last time I am ever going to go through this !

A really trying week so far, dh had an operation to remove some polyps from his nose on Monday and my back has been killing. Still there have been some good bits: we saw a dietician at the hospital about ds (he has milk and egg allergies) and from looking at the food diary we had done, he is getting enough calcium and I can stop breastfeeding, hooray! I am now down to one feed a day and am hoping to get some more energy when I stop. Also on the clothes front has anyone seen in New Look they are doing some really nice pinafore/tunic type things with gathers under the boobs, not maternity at all but perfect for covering bumps and hiding the top underneath that rides up to show fat midriff!

Enjoy today Twoplusone!!! Does DH have to work all day tomorrow? Hope not!

Hi to everyone else - haven't been on here much recently but am still thinking of you all, especially as we are coming up to 20wk scan time (provided you get offered one of course!).

Miao - Very pleased you've got a lovely midwife - it makes all the difference doesn't it. Especially when you are slightly more remote as in your case.

Hope you have a great day twoplusone!

Just carried DS to his nursery in his backpack, we have about 2 inches of snow here and it is still falling thick and fast. All the local schools are closed but luckily the nursery was open - am working from home today so have avoided trying to get in to work. Have already said I'm not coming in tomorrow if it's icy as terrified of falling over...

Hi all, sorry, not been on for a while, but hope everyone is managing ok! Twoplusone, I see today is the day! Have a very happy reunion!

Been getting some lovely reassuring kicks the last couple of days, and have 20 week scan date now for the 21st. Can't believe how quickly this pg is going!

Am hoping to get a morning off from DD soon to go and do some maternity clothes shopping, so will trawl back through the posts as there have been some top tips!

Very of everyone who has got some lovely white snow. Down in Dorset, we have got glorious sunshine, but lots of big soggy puddles from last night's rain. DP got all excited last night when he heard it coming down and jumped out of bed to look, thinking it was the white stuff. Came back with the biggest sulk on that it was just rain! He has DD today and was hoping to go sledging and snowman building. I left him looking very dispondent in front of Pingu this morning!
