Hey Bodkin - My scan is also the 21st, but its an 18 week scan so I'm still 2 weeks behind you . Its not too long to wait I guess!

Will be thinking of you then, Chooster, as we are lying on our backs trying to work out what the hell we are looking at in the murky depths!

When pg with DD, at the 20 week scan the sonographer was Chinese, with a very strong accent. All we could hear was her pointing vaguely at regions and saying "De head, de river, de regs, de kidleys, de rungs" It was like a 2 ronnies sketch!

catstar · 08/02/2007 13:33

I woke up this morning and looked out of the window, saw the snow and got all excited. then I remembered I'm not 5 years old and would have to get to work in it!!! It made me even more excited about having children though .

Thanks for kind messages earlier in the week - now completely over the food poisoning. On the MS subject, I am enjoying food during the day (although still not chocolate ) but still feeling rough in the evenings and not that bothered about eating. I discovered the magic of Gaviscon yesterday after my first bout of indigestion.

Got an appointment tomorrow mornign with consultant to check a couple of things out - hopefully all is okay.

Twoplusone - feel really excited for you and hope all goes well!!!

Wow that's nice of him/her!

Have succumbed and bought tena. My cough is getting worse and getting embarrassing how much I'm weeing myself. Think it's time to go to Dr. 6 weeks is a long time to have an infection. Just been violently sick too. Feel much better though for it. Wasn't MS sick either.

justbeme · 08/02/2007 22:39

Hi - had my 20 week scan today - LO is spot on for size and every thing is looking good - apart from my fibroid - Its right at the "exit point" which means, im told that im probably going to have a Caesarian ! - I cant believe it! Ive been having visions of a waterbirth and been looking at TENS machines etc - got to go back in 2 weeks to see the consultant for further details. At least I wont have to do my pelvic floors exercises though! and DP felt his first kick tonight!
Oh and they wouldnt listen for a heartbeat as they say "seeing" the heartbeat on the scan is enough - so I wont hear it until week 28!

justbeme, c-sections aren't too bad, and would much rather have an elective one than an emergency one! Also quite nice to know that you are going to have your baby on a certain date so you can get v organised before, lots of meals in the freezer and help with the housework. Regarding the recovery my advice would be to take ALL the drugs that they offer you, first few days were pretty uncomfrtable but after that it was fine. There's heaps of advice on mumsnet about c-sections and while you are obviously disappointed about not having a natural delivery 25% of most pregnancies end up with sections so it's not too unusual...

Jennster · 09/02/2007 09:56

I didn't last pregnancy kyte, but then wasn't religious with the pelvic floors after. They are mega wracking coughs though.

has anyone around 16 weeks felt movement yet. I'm sure i feel the tiniest of little kicks but then think I may have been imagining it.
When will it become a definite kick that I can't mistake for wind.

abgirl · 09/02/2007 12:02

typhoonsmum is my second pregnancy and definitely felt movement at 16 weeks - is quite common to feel movement from 16 onwards in later pregnancies.

hee hee bodkin, your description of your 20wk scan had me giggling out loud!!!!

Great you are getting some good care Kyte!

Jennster - Sorry to say this but every time I read your posts I do my pelvic floor exercises. That is the only time mind you, so I definately need to get better as remembering. It does seem strange to be leaking wee for that long at 17wks - Did you say you were going back to the docs?

justbeme - great that the scan went well and sorry for the disappointment about the CS. As has been said, at least you can plan for it and you know what will happen. It must be worse to have a really clear birth plan and then have an emergency CS.

Things are great to me at the moment - i am truly enjoying this pregnancy now having got low risk results from my triple test. I thought I was going to have to wait another week but the midwife called me last night and confirmed the results. She knew how anxious I was so really went out of her way to help - Sometimes the NHS is just fab!!!! So now I really feel 100% pregnant - look it too!!

Miaou · 09/02/2007 15:20

Justabout - good for you! My toddler group is lovely but there are lots of power struggles going on there atm (there are only 7 of us and most of the children are 1.5 to 2.5 - argh!) so we have to all be vigilant and launch in to separate the fighters if a parent isn't to hand

Well, after saying how much better I feel, I have been quite sick over the past few days (last night threw up most of my tea! ). Fortunately I'm not constantly nauseous, but it does take me by surprise and I have not made it to the loo every time . Anyone else still throwing up at 17 weeks? I need to know I'm not alone!!

Jennster · 09/02/2007 15:37

Miaou yes my lunch and the few mouthfuls I managed of dinner ended up on bathroom floor last night while I was coughing violently on the loo. Think it was the mucusy cough though not ms. Am 16+5 weeks

Chooster, it's the cough and sinus infection I'm going to the Dr about. There aint anything but pelvic floor exercises that can help my bladder, (and not coughing so frequently and hard) Don't think my muscles are THAT weak, it really is the force of the cough and the fact I've had it 6 weeks that's the problem. My appointment is 10.30 Tuesday, but it's the Dr who pretended he could see down my husbands throat clearly, when his torch didn't work. I've been trying to do that for weeks and not managed. He just referred him to the ent clinc!

Miaou, Jennster, Firststar - Still having the old nausea and vomiting, made worse by this sinus infection that I have now had for three weeks, I am now just about 18 weeks. Have decided to give up trying to fight it now and am going to the Drs next week if no improvement over the weekend. Sorry that there's still a few of us suffering. Soon I will move on to the next complaints of indigestion and heartburn!! What fun. At least, I can feel the little one giving a good old kick now which makes up for all the complaints.

Chooster - Really glad the triple test results have helped to relax you. I had mine done on Tuesday and have not heard back yet, I will also feel much happier once I have the results.

Abgirl - You really are a star to keep up with the stats list. Ta.

Twoplusone -
Hi to everyone else, hope you all have a lovely weekendx

bubble78 · 09/02/2007 16:40

Hi all just a quicky dh made it home safe and sound... but poor ds came down with a viral infection that is going around lastnight, he had a temp of 39+ throught the night and threw up in his bed so I ended up downs stairs on the sofa with him, and infor the same tonight as he threw up about an hour agoo in bed so all has been stripped again.

DH is of work now for 2weeks which is good.. but he may well be going to America in 2 weeks for 2weeks... I think I can handle that though!!!!

G;ad the scan went well Justbeme- sorry that you may end up with c-section thought..

Soory those that are still throwing up with MS hope it goes away soon...

Hoping ds is better tommorrow so we can go out.. saying that my throat feels like it has razor blades down it!!! never mind dh is home and I am a very happy lady

Take care all will catch up soon xxx
