He is lovely! But how scary - so glad you are being monitored and that things look good!

Hi all,

Had a look at the buggy in Argos yesterday and unfortunatly it won't fit on the auto base which in my opinion is the best thing in the world when you've got a screaming lo . The last thing you need is to be getting hot and sweaty trying to sort out the seat belt
So i've found a Graco mosiac travel system in Toys r us and plan on selling all of my other accumulation of buggies.

A bit of a tip for 2nd timers I wouldn't bother with a double buggy just opt for a pushchair suitable from birth and put a buggy board on the back. My DD1 hardly made use of the double buggy. I did buy it 2nd hand which I think is another good idea and leant it to several of my friends.

Can I please have a small rant and also check if I'm the only one? Several people have asked how I am. When I've said fine, but getting a little tired because sleep's been rather interupted they've made comments about isn't it a bit early for that, that's not right etc. Tehy're making me feel like there's something wrong with me! Can someone confirm that I'm not the only one to be feeling a bit tired at almost 27 weeks?

Abgirl, your little boy looks a real sweetie. A happy ending but must have been a real roller coaster at the time and for a while after he was born. It's good they are monitoring you closely.

Jamantha - if it's too early to feel tired and have interrupted sleep, than I'm abnormal as well...

Report
Jamantha · 13/04/2007 20:01

thanks jendos. I knew I wasn't abnormal, but was feeling pretty got at today. I've heard other people saying about the thing when you're pregnant and people think they can say what they like, but this was the first I've experienced of it. Guess I've got away lightly perhaps, but it was hard and DH is away so no-one else to moan to.

Hi ladies - Jamantha you are definately not the only one! I get tired easily and feel like I need to get to my bed by 10pm (only 10 mins to go for me!) - and I probably wake about 3 times a night - either for the loo or just because I'm uncomfortable. You are not unusual at all! People can be so cheeky. Pregnancy does have a habit of bringing out everyone's 'opinions' about things...

Jamantha - Glad I'm not alone. I was feeling great until this week but I've started getting really tired again.
Last night I was in bed early and looking forward to a lie in as I had today off work, but I woke at 2 and didn't get back to sleep until just before 6, then the flipping cat started miaowing to go out! Thankfully managed to go straight back to sleep but was up again at 9:30.
I start working part time hours next week to use up all my annual leave and I'm so relieved!

Had quite a productive day in the few hours I was feeling awake though, took a load of stuff to the charity shop and arranged for them to come next week and collect the big pieces of furniture we need to get rid of to make space for cots and things.

justbeme - it sounds like we're after the same things buggy wise, my car is small too, and I want a pram seat that reverses. I don't like the travel systems where the car seat sits on top of the pram either.
So far the only options I've seen are the Loola, Maui, or the Bugaboo (which is way beyond my price range.) Let me know if you find any other alternatives.

hello everyone
bit horrified as despite religiously doing my kegel exercises, when i sneezed tonight I leaked a teensy bit . it's the first time that's happened. it's my first baby and I just don't know how common this is and how much of a bad sign it is for after the birth. Does it mean it's all downhill from here continence wise??? is it worth talking to the GP about it or should I just accept it and keep doing the pelvic floor exercises?
any advice appreciated...

Report
abgirl · 14/04/2007 07:34

izzzie, don't think you're alone - some people on this board were talking about this weeks ago. Keep doing those pelvic floor exercises and mention it to the midwive if you're concerned...

Report
pulapula · 14/04/2007 12:33

Izzzie,

You are not alone. I leak a bit when I cough, sneeze and also at other moments when I wouldn't expect to, but then I had problems after my first child where I lost complete control. I also don't have control over my 'trumps' sometimes, which hasn't happened since just after delivery!

I think you should mention it to your midwife/GP but they may just say to keep doing the exercises, and then just see how things are after delivery. In hospital, they have a physio who comes round to see anyone who has incontinence problems after delivery, and you may be referred if you need further intervention.

A work colleague said his wife would wet the bed in the latter stages of pregnancy (I am not sure she'd want us all to know!), so I think incontinence is very common.

I am having a c-section to try and avoid the problems I had last time, but the consultant still said that the pregnancy can result in incontinence, I guess because of the pressure put on the bladder by the baby.

I had more than a little bit of a leak when I was coughing a while back, but that has cleared up with pelvic floors and a course of antibiotics to get rid of the nasty long running infection I had. It's perfectly normal to leak a little before birth. Immediately after a vaginal birth you wonder if you will ever be continent again...but you should be!

Thanks again folks. Feeling much better today, despite the heat. And thanks for the reminders about the pelvic floor exercises. Mine hasn't been quite as good as I'd like at late, so guess I'd better getting working while I'm out enjoying the garden.

Hi everyone - hope things are well. Gorgeous day here - loving it!

Been away for a week so trying to catch up on the million posts! Miaou, I think I was up near your neck of the woods, Skye, Plockton etc. Absolutely gorgeous - never been before, but I will be back!

I have also been subject to the odd embarassing leak - though am finding that my ability to hold my pelvic muscles is SO much better than the the earlier part of the pg, which shows they work. But I guess a little leakage is par for the course. If I'm honest, a seriously good joke could set me off at the best of times .

Hope everyone is feeling ok. I am starting to feel quite large now... though perhaps more to do with holiday indulgence than the wee one!

hi all, and hope ypou are all doing well. We have been away last week - in Norfolk. Nice for a little break, but have come back and back to work today and dd woke at 2am and barely slept again until gone 5am - hence the early posting. am now going to feel really dreadful for the day on 3 and half hours sleep! Also, my replacement is starting at work today - we're having an 8 week handover period and wanted to make a good impression. Ooops!

On the buggy front, which lots of you have been talking about. For dd we had a 'Jane' travel system type thing. Can't remeber the proper name - Jane Carrera I think. Anyway, it folds up umbrella style (we had a suzuki jeep at the time with titchy boot and it fitted in that). The good thing was that the car seat goes completely flat. I wasn't really keen on the idea of pushing dd around in a car seat, but with this type of car seat it was just like having a carry cot. The drawback was that the car seat was a pain to put in the car (there is no base with it) and it was heavy. Also we never put it in the car flat as the straps used for that position are velcro and didn't seem safe enough. My sis-in-law who is ultra ultra safe conscious on evereything usually also has one and used car seat flat with her dd2 until she was 7mths!

This time, am planning on using the same system, with a buggy board if necessary for dd (she's 27months now, but generally a good walker)

Have a great week everyone. Gotta go to get ready for work! x

Where in Norfolk were you Keiralou? It's my home county, and so I'm always pleased to hear that people had a nice time there. Makes up for the bad press it can get (or is that just from my DH?)

I come from Norfolk too originally, grew up just outside Norwich (Thorpe End), what about you Jamantha? I agree, I think Alan Partridge has a lot to answer for!

Lynnec I sympathise with you on the tiles; we are still in chaos with our bathroom and our builder seems to have got distracted with sorting out our rotten window frames. Looking forward to the day I can leave all my lotions and potions in there rather than clear them out every morning so they don't get covered in filth.

Sorry for the abrupt change in subject, but does anyone else have achy hips? Have you got any top tips to deal with them? My left hip is particularly sore today...

Groveregg, know what you mean about the lotions and potions, i gathered all our perfumes and aftershaves into a wicker basket, after dh took the tiles off the wall i went in to see how good a job he'd done only to find he hadnt removed the wicker basket, the towels or the tooth brushes the plumber has told us just to take all the walls right back an inch (thats how much came off with some of the tiles)now the whole house is covered with dust and i hate mess!!!
