Guess what!? The name Mason is a no go because DH knew someone at school with that name and didn't like him!

My search continues

lynnec · 22/03/2007 18:05

lol at Myfairone dh, ive been the exact same with people im not too keen on I liked macey but a neighbour took it i also liked millie and someone else took that!! Quite liked Jay but dh gave me funny looks....so my search also continues!!Although i do really like Kayla and so does dh and ds.

Got on well at the hospital today...they didnt give me a scan, two docs just measured baby and both argreeed baby measured 22 weeks, so its not so big after all (PHEW) although they did say because ds was a big baby i was more likely to have a big baby again, so wasnt that bothered, although dh said i should be, especially when im in labour

I hope everyone is well! x

Jamantha · 22/03/2007 18:23

Otto just makes me think of the bus driver on the Simpsons - not a problem for me though as I think he's a really funny character

Jamantha · 22/03/2007 18:24

Liking Jay, lynnec

Jennster · 22/03/2007 20:37

Otto is a nice name but reminds me of von Bismark. Don't know why, I have no idea who he was. Don't Google him though in case it puts you off. We've decided not to discuss names with people because some people are SO rude! They don't think before they say something like Oh no he smelled of wee at school or something nasty when it is actually a family name.

Caroline1852 · 23/03/2007 09:20

I am quite keen to choose a name where it is likely that there will not be more than one of them in a class. In my older son's class there are three Harrys - Harry B, Harry P and Harry T (and the Harrys P & T often mishear their name (mishearing the P or T) understandably!). So I am trying to totally ignore the top 50 or so names to reduce that likelihood. We also like Toby but I know a Toby who is a very very naughty boy and I don't want a naughty boy. I also like Oscar but worry about its increasing popularity. And I really love the name James but it is too popular. My older boys told me about the bus driver in the Simpsons being called Otto, but they said he is cool. My sister said Otto would be nice if he was tall and very good looking but a short fatty called Otto would be probably a teasing target - I think the same is true whatever name you have. Rambling now! I like Mason and Jay but they sound more American than English to me.

Myfairone · 23/03/2007 10:59

Morning all,

Caroline, I am laughing out loud at your Harry story! There were 3 people in my class with my name and my Mum had the cheek to say that my name was unusual! yeah right!
Your sisters comment about Otto works for any name really. If the person is short and fat then no name works well!

I love Jay and Kayla LynneC. Sorry to hear that your little one is not so little but as long as its healthy

Jennster - I totally agree that discussing names openly seems to be an open invitation for people to be as rude as possible. I told someone at work my favourite girls name and was really annoyed at the response. So now I am only discussing names on MumsNet!

How are you all feeling today? I slept pretty well last night but feel a little sicky!

abgirl · 23/03/2007 11:10

Dear All

Many apologies but no weekly stats this week as I have been signed off work for a week with sinusitis and it hurts to look at a computer screen at the moment. Am on my second lot of anti-biotics after the first lot didn't work and am keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be feeling better soon! Have a sky engineer here at the moment so at least will be able to spend the rest of the day watching films!!

Hope you are all well....

Jamantha · 23/03/2007 11:42

Hope you feel better soon abgirl

Myfairone · 23/03/2007 12:17

Abgirl, you poor thing. You have really been through it haven't you!

Have a duvet afternoon and watch some soppy black and white movies with a huge bar of chocolate!

Feel better soon.
x

Chooster · 23/03/2007 12:32

Hope you are feeling better abgirl! I'll have a shot at updating the stats - presume if I just add on a week I'll be OK!

I really like the names being suggested - Love Otto - its strong and unusual which I like. I also like Jay and Kayla - my DH suggested Jay for ours (a boy) as in short for James. I can't help but think of the boy on Eastenders called Jay and it sort of puts me off. I agree that discussing names in RL is tough as everyone has an opinion. At least on here we are all in the same boat!

Glad you measurements have worked out well LynneC - I was at the docs this morning for routine check and am measuring spot on for almost 23 weeks. All seems well.... Jamantha, I've not had the kind of monitoring you mention but any continuing checks have got to be a good thing. Its certianly not unheard of not to feel much movement and it could be the way the baby is lying and where the placenta is?

Chooster · 23/03/2007 12:36

Updated stats - I've also added the sex of my baby as I know it - anyone else want to own up?

Whoever is doing the stats now I'm having a boy too so can you add that!
Sorry not been on for a while. Work is horrendous.

huskygirl · 23/03/2007 20:00

please could i be added onto the stats again. 24th july. i was on there but have dissapeared again hehe! havent had much time to post but have been enjoying reading everyones progress. just over 120 days to go for me

Miaou · 23/03/2007 21:08

Abgirl, hope you are feeling better soon! You have my total sympathy - my head is really blocked up too, am still waiting for the nasal spray to kick in.

It will be fun I think to keep the weekly stats going once we get into Postnatal - do a weekly roundup of who's given birth, the weight and the sex (she says, giving abgirl more work to do )

abgirl · 24/03/2007 14:24

Hmmm, Miaou will wait to see how many weeks I get to and how I cope with two DCs before agreeing to any more work!

Many thanks for all the good wishes, anti-biotics finally seem to be working and am feeling much better today. Have come into our home office hoping to have a sort through and start clearing it out for the baby and have strangely ended up on mumsnet (again!!). How's everyone else getting on with their preparations now that these babies are starting to feel very real?

typhoonsmum · 24/03/2007 16:26

I have bought a babycom, and a few blue clothes and a steriliser but not much else. Keep looking at the box room thinking I'll have to sort that out soon but baby will be with us for a while so I have a while to do it so put it off.
Will get DD's cot, crib and moses basket back off my sister in a few months. Have sterilised old breast pump and it looks brand new. Need to get a new pram and like the idea of the vibrating bouncers and the hammock like thing that fits in the big bath to bathe them so might get those two things as well. I feel realitively calm about it all. Keep thinking I've got 18 weeks to worry about it so not bother now.
Next thing I know it will be July and I'll be panicking.

cazzybabs · 24/03/2007 17:30

don't know if you still remeember me - well today I have a postivite pregnancy test - YEHHHH.

Please pray/keep fingers crossed my baby makes it this time!!!!

lynnec · 24/03/2007 18:21

lynnec · 24/03/2007 18:24

abgirl, got to confess....i have everything in, even my hospital stuff as i knew i was finishing up with my work early (very early) so got everything in while i still had my wadges coming in.

justbeme · 24/03/2007 18:40

Fantastic news Cazzybabs - I do remember you!!
Had to get measured for another bra today, arent those changing room ligthts awful?? Talk about blue veins and stuff!! (also abit embaressing standing there with another woman showing her your massive tummy!)
