Tutter · 21/03/2007 07:57

sorry for long period awol - spend fdar too long on inconsequential threads in Chat...

all good here - now 22+3 and alarmingly big. i think i was this size at about 30wks with ds1

have discovered i'm expecting another biy, so double trouble for me too

unlike your baby, 2+1, mine has a freakishly large head - same as his brother - which is a tad unnerving. took a lot to get ds1 out, so am planning on taking my own (sharp) scissors in with me this time

am gaingin weight too fast - can't stop eating - but am trying to exercise at least once a week to counteract it. last time i gained 3 stones. already 1st 2lbs this time [alarmed]

good luck to anyone still awaiting anomoly scans

Tutter and Twoplusone - congratulations on your successful scans and two boys! wooohooo!

Twoplusone - I am laughing at your story about the little one touching himself! Bless him!

Well you will all be pleased to hear that I feel better today! But not as relieved as my DH! He even dared ask me if its okay to go to a concert near the time of the birth and I said yes! Well I had to really didn't I? I have been such an unreasonable cow lately!

A little concerned at the amount I am eating (I feel I need to so I don't feel so sick!)..I look huge today as Im wearing a regular jumper and its very tight around my middle!

Hope you all feel well today.

big hugs

catstar · 21/03/2007 12:14

Congrats on boy scans Tutter and 2+1 - and everyone else who's had them recently - deparately trying to catch up on the thread after a few days away from the computer! Mumsnet is such a great thing - I never feel like I'm going through this alone and always look out for everyone's news.

I feel a great relief at reaching 24 weeks, which I understand means my lo is now considered "viable". Saw a lovely doctor for my routine 24 week check this morning. He seemed really interested and was so enthusatic when feeling the uterus - "Wow - I can feel the baby so clearly ... here's her head, she's pointing diagonally downwards..." etc. I came out on a real high!

My dh is away at the moment, mountain biking in Spain, and I've been a bit of a whimpering wreck without him! I'm usually pretty independent and make the most of my time when he goes away, but this time has been different. As a subsitute, I discovered Grey's Anatomy on our on demand TV service, and have watched 14 episodes in 3 days!!! Am now addicted and have bought the next series on ebay. I should be buying baby stuff!!!

By the way, does anyone know when you get the MAT1B form? Do I have to request this from my doctor/midwife, or is it provided automatically? Am a bit puzzled, as Work is asking for it.

Catstar - Glad to hear your check went well. Isnt it great when the doctors are enthusiastic like that! Sorry to hear you have felt a little wimpish, I am sure Greys anatomy is the answer though {grin]

My work requested the MATB1 form too and when I asked the midwife she said that they give it out at 26 weeks in my area. Another pregnant lady in work got hers at 22, so I think it depends where you live.

Cyee · 21/03/2007 13:00

Hola - the sun is shining!

HR hat on for a sec - MATB1s are a 26 week event in the vast majority of cases, but seems to be linked to your area's schedule of midwife visits.

Greys Anatomy - love it! I discovered it while off with m/s and am now doing cold turkey til the next series. Did you see the end of the last one? Cliff hanger!

Really good to hear about all of the good scans and the great doc experiences. By the way has anyone done/heard about hypnobirthing? I've bought some CDs around relaxation and birth prep and think it's quite an interesting idea. Ultimately I'll try anything! Also just got that Sheila Kitzinger book... it's all starting to feel scarily real.. as in... this bambino HAS to come out

Hope all's well.

Chooster · 21/03/2007 14:08

Ahhh, more boys to add to our merry crew. Congratulations Tutter and twoplusone. Maybe if Abgirl is kind enough to send another update this Friday we could all add the sex of our babies if we know - and maybe gut feel for those who don't know.

I've never been sure what the protocol is with forms but I'll be checking with my GP on Friday when I see him.

All is well with me - feel massive, look massive and heavy. I tried on some old maternity trousers last night and they were too tight around my thighs... Now I can't blame that on baby bulge can I?

Quick honest opinion on names for boys - Cody and Jaden...??? Anyone like them / hate them. One thing that out me off Jaden is that Britney Spears boy is called that. but as DH says, I'm never likely to bump into her am I!

Congrats to all those with scan results and who know what they are getting! I don't know what I'm having, and since my gut feeling when pg with dd1 and dd2 was that I was having a boy each time, this time I refuse to speculate!! Would be interesting to see how many are having boys and how many are girls as I would guess there are more boys than girls at this stage

Still suffering with my head pressure/dizziness/ hearing underwater in a swimming pool feeling but have picked up my nasal spray today so fingers crossed it will help ease the symptoms in time. I've been prescribed stugeron to help deal with the associated nausea and was pleasantly surprised to discover that it actually works! Having taken it before to combat travel sickness and not felt much benefit, I was a little sceptical to say the least!!

Still not put on much weight but am not too concerned yet - plenty of time to catch up!

Chooster · 21/03/2007 14:38

Miaou - Glad you've got your nasal spray and that the other medication works for nausea - that must be a massive relief!!! I'm sure there is plenty of time to catch up on the gaining weight front. Maybe it is a boy after all if you are not gaining as much weight as with your girls!! Sorry, I am dreadful at making people guess what they are having... I'm just too curious for my own good!

Thanks for the feedback on the names Firststar - The two I mentioned were the ones that DH came up with after saying no to my personal favourite - Zack. When DS was due we each took the name book (DH took a bit of persuading to do this! ) and we each wrote a list of our 5 favourites to see if any matched.... None did! Then when DS was born we came up with a name that had never come up before.

Miaou · 21/03/2007 14:53

Great theory Chooster - except I put on more weight with ds than I ever did with the dds - so all bets are off atm!! I'm thinking that when I feel better and less sicky then everything will just explode

Myfairone · 21/03/2007 15:19

Chooster - I too tried on some mat trousers that I was wearing a few weeks ago and no go! Couldnt even get them over my hips! And, we had to have a photograph taken for our new 'team' at work and I look like an elephant! I can't blame my fat cheeks and two chins on the baby can I?

As for the names, I love Cody (that is on my list) but Jaden if shortened is Jade and as I know a girl with that name it kind of spoils it for me. Hope I haven't offended you, just my opinion

I love the name Zach but we can't have it because it doesn't go with our surname!

I too have been trawling through a name book. I got my list together and am now patiently waiting for DH to 'get round to it'! For some reason every name I like seems to belong to either a dog or a stripper, according to him!

Miaou - You poor thing! I hope that the nasal spray works for you. Don't worry too much about the weight issue, I am sure that once you feel better and start to eat more you will put it on. As long as little one is okay.

Ahh, forgot you had a DS as well Miaou... Really hope you start feeling better soon.

No offence on the names at all myfairone - I'm looking for honest opinions. Zack is still my personal favourite so my plan is to keep quiet about it for a couple of months and suggest it again. Its one of my approaches with getting DS to eat new food. If at first you dont succeed - wait a while - then try again LOL at your name choices sounding like dogs or strippers. We already have a 'dog' name for DS (Max) so we need to try to avoid another one

Myfairone · 21/03/2007 16:35

Firststar - my DH does that! He rhymes it or tells me all about the person he knew that was called that, and why he didn't like them! I get worn out trying to discuss it! lol..

Chooster - I love your theory on trying again....its the wear 'em down theory isn't it!
My DH obviously had a mis-spent youth if the only names he can associate with are strippers and dogs!

Hope you all have a great evening!

Trimum2 · 21/03/2007 17:16

MFO - Same here! All my boy faves are dismissed as - knew a guy called that at school / college and didn't like him or whatever.

Our added stress is that with DS1, my family and DH's family call him different names. One is full name and one is "pet" name. Its drives DH mad when he hears my family making such a point of calling him his full name but DH bites his tongue and has never said anything about it to them. But its adding to stress of picking out a name for no.2 as its no.1's name has caused such issues.

Miaou · 21/03/2007 17:26

lol chooster - when I was expecting ds I suggested Hamish but dh wasn't so keen - but this time round he suggested it for a boy! . It's obviously grown on him!

lynnec · 21/03/2007 19:41

Hi ladies, i'm so glad im not the only one having bother fitting into the mat trousers, i bought a nice pair of cropped trousers about 4 weeks ago, and dont think im going to get another four weeks out of themi havent put on alot of weight but my bump is massive, i did loose a bit of weight at the start of pg due to the healthy eating and not been able to eat chocolate or sweets and im still like that just now,can only manage my 3 meals a day, mostly always salads, just cant wait to see how big this baby actually is at the scan tomorrow, as im sure my doc was very worried about the size of my bump compared to the size of me!!!
I hope everyone is well and goodluck with those who have scans soon and congratulations to all who found out the sex.

Myfairone · 22/03/2007 10:44

Good luck with your scan today LynneC....I am sure that you look wonderful with your big bump! The maternity trousers I bought to replace the ones that got too tight are now getting tight too!
Well down on eating salad! I still haven't been able to face anything green!

Miaou - Hamish is a nice strong name...glad it grew on him! And now he can take credit for picking it!

Trimum - That's funny! I am sure that no matter what you pick, someone will have a pet name for them!
A friend of mine couldn't decide what to call her little one. They were telling everyone that they liked the name Mark BUT we might call him something else...Eventually the name BUT stuck and now the poor little mite gets called 'BUTTY' by everyone!

I slept last night but have woken up with a headache, I am sure its where I slept! Just can't win!

My new office is absolutely freezing too! I keep pulling the 'I'm pregnant' line and now they are getting the heating engineers to look at my area first! It does come in very handy being pregnant at times doesn't it!?

Hope you all feel well today.

Jamantha · 22/03/2007 12:11

Hi all - been watching all your messages, so much going on it's hard to take it all in. But well done to everyone, and don't despair about expanding middles, it's all in a good cause. I had an extra check witht eh MW this mornign as I've not been feeling much movement (only about 1 definite movement a week, though some "wobbles" that are hard to tell if they're baby or me). Heartbeat was VERY loud and strong though, phew! Been told it may be I just can't feel it, or I may have a placid/lazy one but I can go in for regular heartbeat checks if I need to. And if it's still like this at 28 weeks I can go for some monitoring to check it's movements, blood flow, "breathing" etc more thoroughly, but for now to try not not to worry. Has anyone else had any experience of monitoring?

Myfairone · 22/03/2007 12:18

Hi Jamantha, Sorry to hear that you haven't had much movement but at least you did the right thing and went and got it checked out.

The offer of regular checks sounds reassuring and I am sure that it will put your mind at rest.

Hope you feel okay.

Jamantha · 22/03/2007 12:39

Thanks Myfairone. Feel much happier today having heard such a good HB.

Rang DH to tell him it was all OK, and he (jokingly!) said "so my tax-payers money goes on reassuring you flapping mothers then?" Cheek! Thankfully I know he's being tongue-in-cheek about it.

Caroline1852 · 22/03/2007 14:04

Glad everyone getting good scan results etc. I like the name Otto (baby is quarter Austrian so would be nice to have a European name). What do people think? Honestly! (I can take it!)

Myfairone · 22/03/2007 14:18

Jamantha - He's lucky he caught you on a good day!
It's nice to hear that for once our tax money is being spent on something useful at least!

Caroline - I know an Otto and I think the name is really cute (because the Otto I know is such a sweetie!) Its one of those name that is not easily forgotten, easy to spell and hard to shorten. Go for it!

Okay, what do people think about the name Mason? I heard it the other day and rather liked it. My Mum said that when shortened it is Mace (not sure I like that!) but tell me honestly what you think please.
