Oh cazzybabs, congratulations!! That's wonderful news. Hope all goes well for you

I was going to say I'm not at all organised - but in fact I am really, I've just not needed to buy anything! I've got all ds's first baby clothes back from bensmum4 (we circulate all our clothes - they go from her, to me, back to her - great way to keep the cost down!!), plus the moses basket. Dh bought a new cot because ds has rattled his to bits - but picked it up for a bargain from a charity shop (he is great at finding bargains!). Ds has a little bed ready to go into too. I've got plenty of washable nappies, and the baby can have ds's buggy as he hardly uses it even now. I've got a double buggy too but I really don't think I'm going to get to use it! If this baby turns out to be a girl then I think I'll have to rely on some pink presents for a while .

Abgirl, the wink was to show I'm not serious!! Postnatally a list wouldn't need to be too much work anyway as once people's birth is up there it won't need to change, just add on the new ones! I was just thinking the idea would be nice to continue as it's great to keep up with the news - but anyone could do that!

Wish me luck - I have a job interview on Monday. I am applying for a job as Senior Playleader at my local nursery. Hopefully they won't hold my pregnancy and impending birth against me

Chooster · 24/03/2007 20:38

Great news Cazzybabs - yes remember you! Am so glad that you are pregnant again - Best of luck this time - We'll all be keeping our fingers crossed for you. Please let us know how you get on

pookey · 24/03/2007 21:39

Congratulations Cazzybabs

Abgirl (hope you are feeling better) I havent done any prep yet, I still need to decide what to do about transport so either sell my pram and get a double buggy or decide to try using a sling at first and see if we can skip double buggy. I also need to buy a hammock and maybe a cotbed (or else a bed for ds so this one can have his cotbed). I am obsessed with getting as much as sleep as possible this time round, I just do not do well with broken sleep, so will prob buy into every sleep gimmick I can sell to DP. I also want to buy another chest of drawers so that I can start sorting ds old clothes rewash and store the early ones in readiness. Then there is all the old eqipment sterilising, clearing out kunk and doing maintenance work on the house ....... Blimey even writting the to-do-list will be a job and a half.

pookey · 24/03/2007 21:40

Kunk? junk. didnt get much sleep last night!

bilblio · 24/03/2007 23:06

Hi, I'm joining in late. I've read about a months worth of messages and got lots of useful info off you all, but forgive me for not reading the other 2 threads
I'm expecting my first baby on the 19th July. Blokey and I are sooo excited, we've been putting kids off for too many years (in my opinion anyway.)

My scans show the baby is healthy, normal size etc, but I've got to have another scan at 36 weeks because my placenta is low. When they found that out they've also booked me in for more tests because I have a suspect latex allergy, I've been tested before but the results were inconclusive, I'm hoping I'll get definite results this time.

Anyhow, that's me, looking forward to chatting to you all.

Many congrats Cazzybabs! That's great news.

Welcome Bilblio!

Good luck with the interview Miaou.

Just seen the most gorgeous sunset and feeling chipper that the fair weather seems to be upon us... but nervous that the very same weather always makes me want to indulge in a few large glasses of cold white wine..Mmmm.... darn it!

Have a good week everyone.

keiralou · 25/03/2007 22:08

Hi all, and big congrats to you cazzy..
Was wondering if anyone can help out - we're just starting to organise dd's new bedroom ready for junior to take over her room. We've just come across the Ikea Hemnes Day Bed - does anyone ahve one? They also have straightforward single beds which we were going to go with, but the day bed seems great value. Just a bit worried that it's smaller than the average.
Anyone got Ikea beds generally if not?

Have a great week! x

keiralou · 25/03/2007 22:11

And also, does anyone have advice on 'safe' duvets and pillows to buy? Am sure I've heard that some makes are better or healthier for lo's but can't seem to find anything at the mo. DD is still in her grobag and has no pillow

Chooster · 26/03/2007 08:38

Hi kieralou - I done have much experience with IKEA beds, but we have got one of their kids extendable beds at my mums house for when we all stay. DS seems really happy in it and it comes with a small bed guard and he hasn't fallen out of it. The only thing I would say is most of their duvet covers / pillow covers all feltt really horrible to me, quite stiff and scratchy.

I agree with you that duvets are important. I bought quite an expensive one for DS called an 'acclimatiser' I think. It was meant to keep him warm in winter and cool in summer. But all it did was make his eyes red and very sticky. He obviously reacted to something in the duvet (it had some wool in it) as I soon as I stopped using it he's been fine. So that one is now stuffed in a cupboard until I get round to selling it on ebay and we got a cheap £20 duvet and pillow set from John Lewis instead - its been great!

twoplusone · 26/03/2007 09:55

Hi ,
kieralou not sure onthe day bed, my dd has a double bed from Ikea and she loves it.. I was suprised her matteress came all rolled up .. took 72 hrs to flatten ont and get thicker.. but she loves the bed now..

We have decided to call our little boy.. Lee Anthony.... ( I think!!) 99%. So that will mean I have
DD- Nicole Louise..
DS1-Scott William Phillip..
DS2- Lee Anthony..#

I think seeing them like that they all go nicley together.. (if that makes sense!! lol)

Cazzybabs - that is such great news! Really happy for you and got everything crossed!

Am loving some of the names mentioned here. I think that boys are much harder to name than girls - perhaps you can get away with more as a girl! Knowing that I am having a girl, we have been going through the books, but keep coming back to the same name, Georgina Grace (Grace as a middle name). I think we need a couple of reserves incase when she's born we decide she doesn't look like a "Georgina" .... And also a boy's name just in case the scan was not as conclusive as the sonographer suggested !!

The sun is shining here so we're off to a good start this week. Have a good one.

Trimum2 · 26/03/2007 13:51

Routine appointment this morning. baby is breech . Loadsa time for it to turn though... but no more lounging on the sofa for me.

Myfairone · 26/03/2007 15:54

Cazzybabs - Yes I do remember you and I am so thrilled to hear that you are pregnant! Congratulations! I cannot imagine how heartbroken you were before but this is just wonderful news. Stay positive and I am keeping it all crossed for you! Good luck.

Trimum - I am sure there is plenty of time for little one to turn.

Justbeme - Congrats on the new car!

Miaou - Good luck with the interview. let us know how it goes

Twoplusone - Love the name Lee! It's a very strong name to me. I know a Lee who is a big strapping, handsome fireman, and always think of him when I hear it!

Bilblio - Welcome to the July thread! As you can see, we are a chatty lot so feel free to join in!

Abgirl - We are planning on doing the baby's room at Easter. I have a ton of junk in there (cannot believe I got so much stuff into a small space!). I keep telling myself that I have plenty of time but I know that July will come round sooner rather than later and I will be too huge to do anything!

I feel so exhausted today. My Mum was taken into hospital on Friday (hopefully coming out today!) so I have spent the entire weekend stressed out and worried

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!

My Mum got out of the hospital today!

Hoping to be able to sleep tonight now!

Love the name Gracie, it sounds very feminine to me

catstar · 26/03/2007 17:30

Good news myfairone - hope you get a good night's kip tonight.

Grace was my Grandma's name and I've always loved it. It wouldn't work as a first name really, because of our surname, so I thought I'd slip it in as a middle name. When I suggested Georgina to a couple of friends they said they found it quite a "hard" sounding name, but I think Grace would soften it a bit.... Oh, it's a real minefield, but I think you just have to go with your heart.

Trimum2 - mine's breech as well. Is it really time already to start perching on the swiss ball?!?

keiralou · 26/03/2007 20:22

thanks for the advice chooster and twoplusone about the ikea beds.
I also really like the names Grace and Gracie - am just a bit worried that it is soooo commmon now - I think it was number 2 in the top 100 names for last year. Also really like Ruby. Struggling with boys names - we can't really agree as I quite like Joseph and Joshua. DH not totally convinced on either of these. Still - more time to work on him!!
It's going to be a warmer day tomorrow than today - yeah!!
How did the interview go Miaou?

lynnec · 26/03/2007 21:34

Could anyone suggest how many real nappies i'd need to start of with??? Not too sure as this is my first time using them, dont want to buy too many, incase i end up using disposables, but dont want to leave myself short.

Hope everyone is keeping well.xx

Miaou · 26/03/2007 22:00

It went OK, thank you for asking!! I will find out tomorrow if I got the job (fingers crossed!)

madmumNika · 26/03/2007 23:18

LynnC- Re. nappies, I would say you'll need 12- maybe try getting them from EBay as cheaper there.... Or try getting 6 fitted and 6 terry cloths and some nappy nippas! You will also need 4-6 wraps. If you don't find you really use them you shouldn't have difficulties selling them.... Also do ask around for advice on makes... I love motherease nappies but found these one size nappies too big for a newborn. I actually ended up using terries for a while and learnt some nifty folds which I've probably now forgotten! Tots bots were great too....

Miaou- have fingers crossed for you about the job!

Myfairone- really glad your Mum is back home, hope she's ok and you can start to relax

Trimum & Catstar- I am using a gym ball/birthing ball to sit at my computer as a friend said it would be great for baby's positioning... maybe worth a shot?!

Hope everyone else is doing well.... I have another consultant appt on Thursday and finally my anomaly scan ( 3 weeks late!)... bit nervous but also excited at seeing LO again.

Night night everyone hope you all sleep well xxxx

Jennster · 26/03/2007 23:31

LynneC - I've got loads of one size that were enormous on dd when newborn, but am determined not to use disposables this time, so am going to start off with muslin cloths and nippas. Have been advised to use the 'origami' fold with a snug wrap for breastfed poo. They are cheap and you can use them as boosters later on. They come in packs of 10 so was going to buy 2 packs.

twoplusone · 27/03/2007 10:51

No help on the reusable nappies.. must admit have always used disposables... may chat with DH about the reusable ones though.

Myfairone- Glad your mum is ok and at home now.

On babies postion.. lo is transverse at the momnet.. first one of mine to ever present tranverse at a check!!.. Said to DH last night lots of time to turn I know..

DD was breech at term (well delivery 36weeks)
DS was cephalic..(normal postioning.. but op so back to back)
Hope this one decides to get himself into good position..

My aunt studies shiatzu!!! I think and hshe has told DH and I were to press to help baby get to optimal postion at term and also were to press to help spped delivery and help with pain.. My other aunt used her techniques with her first last year and said they worked.. Will have to give themn a shot if I can remember which point for which.. think I need her to write it down and email them so we can remember.. esp as I will be having no gas and air.. Have also recentley been told that if I want an epidural in labour I have to go to see an anthiatist (sp) at an other hospital at 36eweeks to book one.. then it is only if someone is available that I can have one at the time.. If you dont do the 36week appointment with him you are not allowed one!!!!

Going to do the hospital tour in may or June.. think I will go for may as they are the last tuesday of every month..

Right of to blitz scotts toys and his room.. fed up of little bits everywhere going to do some proper sorting out.... and be ruthless.. ( or maybe put some stuf away for when lee is a toddler...

Jamantha · 27/03/2007 12:16

LynneC - I'm also hoping to use reuables, and have been looking for info on types, how many etc. Found a place near where I live that does trials of the different types. You basically hire some different types, and if you return them (washed!) then you just pay the hire cost, but if you then go on to use them they take the hire cost off the purchase price. Think I might use this scheme - might be worth seeing if there's anything similar near you?

Just had my GP appointment this morning, and all my fears that she's tell me off for putting on too much weight and/or find glucose in my urine and/or my BP would be up were unfounded. And despite not feeling much movement she says baby is very active, she had to keep chasing it round my tum to listen to the heartbeat for more than a couple of seconds at a time!
